Crossing the Threshold, one of a series of advice and guidance publications, is designed to support use of the online e-Portfolio Implementation Toolkit and video case studies by those involved in wide-scale implementation of e-portfolios in their institutions. As the resources address the needs of both managers and practitioners, the publication has relevance for a wide range of readers in further and higher education and work-based learning. To assist the planning and effective management of a large-scale e-portfolio implementation, Crossing the Threshold follows the stages of an implementation journey with insights and guidance drawn from the toolkit and its supporting case studies. The potential energy in materials is well approximated by pair functional which is composed of pair potentials and embedding energy. During calculating material potential energy, the orientational component and the volumetric component are derived respectively from pair potentials and embedding energy. The sum of energy of all these two kinds of components is the material potential. No matter how microstructures change, damage or fracture, at the most level, they are all the changing and breaking atomic bonds. As an abstract of atomic bonds, these components change their stiffness during damaging. Material constitutive equations have been formulated by means of assembling all components' response functions. This material model is called the component assembling model. Theoretical analysis and numerical computing indicate that the proposed model has the capacity of reproducing some results satisfactorily, with the advantages of great conceptual simplicity, physical explicitness, and intrinsic induced anisotropy, etc.

We analyse further the entanglement purification protocol proposed by Feng et al. (Phys. Lett. A 271 (2000) 44) in the case of imperfect local operations and measurements. It is found that this protocol allows of higher error threshold. Compared with the standard entanglement purification proposed by Bennett et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 76 (1996) 722], it turns out that this protocol is remarkably robust against the influences of imperfect local operations and measurements.

The ablation in zinc selenide (ZnSe) crystal is studied by using 150-fs, 800-nm laser system. The images of the ablation pit measured by scanning electronic microscope (SEM) show no thermal stress and melting dynamics. The threshold fluence is measured to be 0.7 J/cm2. The ultrafast ablation dynamics is studied by using pump and probe method. The result suggests that optical breakdown and ultrafast melting take place in ZnSe irradiated under femtosecond laser pulses.

研究了超短脉冲激光照射下LiF晶体的破坏机理及其超快动力学过程,利用扫描电镜和原子力显微镜等测试手段,观测了飞秒激光照射下LiF晶体的烧蚀形貌。利用烧蚀面积与激光脉冲能量的对数关系确定了LiF晶体的破坏阈值,并利用非线性玻璃棒展宽脉宽,得到了800nm激光作用下LiF破坏阈值对激光脉宽(50~1000fs)的依赖关系;利用抽运一探针超快探测平台,探测了LiF烧蚀过程中反射率的变化。采用雪崩击穿模型,并根据晶体材料反射率与材料的介电常量的依赖关系,通过数值计算,模拟了材料烧蚀阈值与脉宽的依赖关系及材料激发过

设计和制备了全向高反膜SiO2/TiO2,研究了它在不同脉冲宽度、不同脉冲能量的飞秒激光作用下的破坏阈值和烧蚀深度.利用发展的抽运.探针方法,研究了抽运脉冲作用下材料中导带电子的超快激发和能量沉积过程,建立并求解了飞秒激光激发材料和材料的激发对抽运光自身反作用的耦合动力学模型.模型较好地揭示了材料破坏的激发过程.
