This work describes a methodology for converting a specialized dictionary into a learner’s dictionary. The dictionary to which we apply our conversion method is the DiCoInfo, Dictionnaire fondamental de l’informatique et de l’Internet. We focus on changes affecting the presentation of data categories. What is meant by specialized dictionary for learners, in our case, is a dictionary covering the field of computer science and Internet meeting our users’ needs in communicative and cognitive situations. Our dictionary is aimed at learners’ of the computing language. We start by presenting a detailed description of four dictionaries for learners. We explain how the observations made on these resources have helped us in developing our methodology.In order to develop our methodology, first, based on Bergenholtz and Tarp’s works (Bergenholtz 2003; Tarp 2008; Fuertes Olivera and Tarp 2011), we defined the type of users who may use our dictionary. Translators are our first intended users. Other users working in the fields related to translation are also targeted: proofreaders, technical writers, interpreters. We also determined the use situations of our dictionary. It aims to assist the learners in solving text reception and text production problems (communicative situations) and in studying the terminology of computing (cognitive situations). Thus, we could establish its lexicographical functions: communicative and cognitive functions. Then, we extracted 50 articles from the DiCoInfo to which we applied a number of changes in different aspects: the layout, the presentation of data, the navigation and the use of multimedia. The changes were made according to two fundamental parameters: 1) simplification of the presentation; 2) lexicographic functions (which include the intended users and user’s situations). In this way, we exploited the widgets offered by the technology to update the interface and layout. Strategies have been developed to organize a large number of lexical links in a simpler way. We associated these links with examples showing their use in specific contexts. Multimedia as audio pronunciation and illustrations has been used.

ACCURATE sensing of vehicle position and attitude is still a very challenging problem in many mobile robot applications. The mobile robot vehicle applications must have some means of estimating where they are and in which direction they are heading. Many existing indoor positioning systems are limited in workspace and robustness because they require clear lines-of-sight or do not provide absolute, driftfree measurements.The research work presented in this dissertation provides a new approach to position and attitude sensing system designed specifically to meet the challenges of operation in a realistic, cluttered indoor environment, such as that of an office building, hospital, industrial or warehouse. This is accomplished by an innovative assembly of infrared LED source that restricts the spreading of the light intensity distribution confined to a sheet of light and is encoded with localization and traffic information. This Digital Infrared Sheet of Light Beacon (DISLiB) developed for mobile robot is a high resolution absolute localization system which is simple, fast, accurate and robust, without much of computational burden or significant processing. Most of the available beacon's performance in corridors and narrow passages are not satisfactory, whereas the performance of DISLiB is very encouraging in such situations. This research overcomes most of the inherent limitations of existing systems.The work further examines the odometric localization errors caused by over count readings of an optical encoder based odometric system in a mobile robot due to wheel-slippage and terrain irregularities. A simple and efficient method is investigated and realized using an FPGA for reducing the errors. The detection and correction is based on redundant encoder measurements. The method suggested relies on the fact that the wheel slippage or terrain irregularities cause more count readings from the encoder than what corresponds to the actual distance travelled by the vehicle.The application of encoded Digital Infrared Sheet of Light Beacon (DISLiB) system can be extended to intelligent control of the public transportation system. The system is capable of receiving traffic status input through a GSM (Global System Mobile) modem. The vehicles have infrared receivers and processors capable of decoding the information, and generating the audio and video messages to assist the driver. The thesis further examines the usefulness of the technique to assist the movement of differently-able (blind) persons in indoor or outdoor premises of his residence.The work addressed in this thesis suggests a new way forward in the development of autonomous robotics and guidance systems. However, this work can be easily extended to many other challenging domains, as well.

Kerala was the pioneer in modern seafood processing and exporting. But now the industry is Iacingalot of problems due to low productivity and deterioration in the quality of the products. only about 17% of the installed freezing capacity in sea food processing industry was reported to be utilised during 1979-80. The price of the export commodities its decided by the buyers based on international supply and demand pattern and based on the strength and weakness of dollar/yen. The only way to increase the profitability of the processors is to reduce the cost of production to the possible extent. The individual processors find it difficult to continue in this field due to low productivity and quality problems. The main objectives of the research are to find out how the production is being managed in the seafood processing(freezing) 17industry in Kerala and the reasons for low productivity and poor quality of the products. An Overview of known spatial clustering algorithms The space of interest can be the two-dimensional abstraction of the surface of the earth or a man-made space like the layout of a VLSI design, a volume containing a model of the human brain, or another 3d-space representing the arrangement of chains of protein molecules. The data consists of geometric information and can be either discrete or continuous. The explicit location and extension of spatial objects define implicit relations of spatial neighborhood (such as topological, distance and direction relations) which are used by spatial data mining algorithms. Therefore, spatial data mining algorithms are required for spatial characterization and spatial trend analysis. Spatial data mining or knowledge discovery in spatial databases differs from regular data mining in analogous with the differences between non-spatial data and spatial data. The attributes of a spatial object stored in a database may be affected by the attributes of the spatial neighbors of that object. In addition, spatial location, and implicit information about the location of an object, may be exactly the information that can be extracted through spatial data mining

Digitales stochastisches Magnetfeld-Sensorarray Stefan Rohrer Im Rahmen eines mehrjährigen Forschungsprojektes, gefördert von der Deutschen Forschungsgesellschaft (DFG), wurden am Institut für Mikroelektronik (IPM) der Universität Kassel digitale Magnetfeldsensoren mit einer Breite bis zu 1 µm entwickelt. Die vorliegende Dissertation stellt ein aus diesem Forschungsprojekt entstandenes Magnetfeld-Sensorarray vor, das speziell dazu entworfen wurde, um digitale Magnetfelder schnell und auf minimaler Fläche mit einer guten räumlichen und zeitlichen Auflösung zu detektieren. Der noch in einem 1,0µm-CMOS-Prozess gefertigte Test-Chip arbeitet bis zu einer Taktfrequenz von 27 MHz bei einem Sensorabstand von 6,75 µm. Damit ist er das derzeit kleinste und schnellste digitale Magnetfeld-Sensorarray in einem Standard-CMOS-Prozess. Konvertiert auf eine 0,09µm-Technologie können Frequenzen bis 1 GHz erreicht werden bei einem Sensorabstand von unter 1 µm. In der Dissertation werden die wichtigsten Ergebnisse des Projekts detailliert beschrieben. Basis des Sensors ist eine rückgekoppelte Inverter-Anordnung. Als magnetfeldsensitives Element dient ein auf dem Hall-Effekt basierender Doppel-Drain-MAGFET, der das Verhalten der Kippschaltung beeinflusst. Aus den digitalen Ausgangsdaten kann die Stärke und die Polarität des Magnetfelds bestimmt werden. Die Gesamtanordnung bildet einen stochastischen Magnetfeld-Sensor. In der Arbeit wird ein Modell für das Kippverhalten der rückgekoppelten Inverter präsentiert. Die Rauscheinflüsse des Sensors werden analysiert und in einem stochastischen Differentialgleichungssystem modelliert. Die Lösung der stochastischen Differentialgleichung zeigt die Entwicklung der Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilung des Ausgangssignals über die Zeit und welche Einflussfaktoren die Fehlerwahrscheinlichkeit des Sensors beeinflussen. Sie gibt Hinweise darauf, welche Parameter für das Design und Layout eines stochastischen Sensors zu einem optimalen Ergebnis führen. Die auf den theoretischen Berechnungen basierenden Schaltungen und Layout-Komponenten eines digitalen stochastischen Sensors werden in der Arbeit vorgestellt. Aufgrund der technologisch bedingten Prozesstoleranzen ist für jeden Detektor eine eigene kompensierende Kalibrierung erforderlich. Unterschiedliche Realisierungen dafür werden präsentiert und bewertet. Zur genaueren Modellierung wird ein SPICE-Modell aufgestellt und damit für das Kippverhalten des Sensors eine stochastische Differentialgleichung mit SPICE-bestimmten Koeffizienten hergeleitet. Gegenüber den Standard-Magnetfeldsensoren bietet die stochastische digitale Auswertung den Vorteil einer flexiblen Messung. Man kann wählen zwischen schnellen Messungen bei reduzierter Genauigkeit und einer hohen lokalen Auflösung oder einer hohen Genauigkeit bei der Auswertung langsam veränderlicher Magnetfelder im Bereich von unter 1 mT. Die Arbeit präsentiert die Messergebnisse des Testchips. Die gemessene Empfindlichkeit und die Fehlerwahrscheinlichkeit sowie die optimalen Arbeitspunkte und die Kennliniencharakteristik werden dargestellt. Die relative Empfindlichkeit der MAGFETs beträgt 0,0075/T. Die damit erzielbaren Fehlerwahrscheinlichkeiten werden in der Arbeit aufgelistet. Verglichen mit dem theoretischen Modell zeigt das gemessene Kippverhalten der stochastischen Sensoren eine gute Übereinstimmung. Verschiedene Messungen von analogen und digitalen Magnetfeldern bestätigen die Anwendbarkeit des Sensors für schnelle Magnetfeldmessungen bis 27 MHz auch bei kleinen Magnetfeldern unter 1 mT. Die Messungen der Sensorcharakteristik in Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur zeigen, dass die Empfindlichkeit bei sehr tiefen Temperaturen deutlich steigt aufgrund der Abnahme des Rauschens. Eine Zusammenfassung und ein ausführliches Literaturverzeichnis geben einen Überblick über den Stand der Technik.

Association rules are a popular knowledge discovery technique for warehouse basket analysis. They indicate which items of the warehouse are frequently bought together. The problem of association rule mining has first been stated in 1993. Five years later, several research groups discovered that this problem has a strong connection to Formal Concept Analysis (FCA). In this survey, we will first introduce some basic ideas of this connection along a specific algorithm, TITANIC, and show how FCA helps in reducing the number of resulting rules without loss of information, before giving a general overview over the history and state of the art of applying FCA for association rule mining.

The control of aerial gymnastic maneuvers is challenging because these maneuvers frequently involve complex rotational motion and because the performer has limited control of the maneuver during flight. A performer can influence a maneuver using a sequence of limb movements during flight. However, the same sequence may not produce reliable performances in the presence of off-nominal conditions. How do people compensate for variations in performance to reliably produce aerial maneuvers? In this report I explore the role that passive dynamic stability may play in making the performance of aerial maneuvers simple and reliable. I present a control strategy comprised of active and passive components for performing robot front somersaults in the laboratory. I show that passive dynamics can neutrally stabilize the layout somersault which involves an "inherently unstable" rotation about the intermediate principal axis. And I show that a strategy that uses open loop joint torques plus passive dynamics leads to more reliable 1 1/2 twisting front somersaults in simulation than a strategy that uses prescribed limb motion. Results are presented from laboratory experiments on gymnastic robots, from dynamic simulation of humans and robots, and from linear stability analyses of these systems.

Brightness judgments are a key part of the primate brain's visual analysis of the environment. There is general consensus that the perceived brightness of an image region is based not only on its actual luminance, but also on the photometric structure of its neighborhood. However, it is unclear precisely how a region's context influences its perceived brightness. Recent research has suggested that brightness estimation may be based on a sophisticated analysis of scene layout in terms of transparency, illumination and shadows. This work has called into question the role of low-level mechanisms, such as lateral inhibition, as explanations for brightness phenomena. Here we describe experiments with displays for which low-level and high-level analyses make qualitatively different predictions, and with which we can quantitatively assess the trade-offs between low-level and high-level factors. We find that brightness percepts in these displays are governed by low-level stimulus properties, even when these percepts are inconsistent with higher-level interpretations of scene layout. These results point to the important role of low-level mechanisms in determining brightness percepts.

We contribute a quantitative and systematic model to capture etch non-uniformity in deep reactive ion etch of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices. Deep reactive ion etch is commonly used in MEMS fabrication where high-aspect ratio features are to be produced in silicon. It is typical for many supposedly identical devices, perhaps of diameter 10 mm, to be etched simultaneously into one silicon wafer of diameter 150 mm. Etch non-uniformity depends on uneven distributions of ion and neutral species at the wafer level, and on local consumption of those species at the device, or die, level. An ion–neutral synergism model is constructed from data obtained from etching several layouts of differing pattern opening densities. Such a model is used to predict wafer-level variation with an r.m.s. error below 3%. This model is combined with a die-level model, which we have reported previously, on a MEMS layout. The two-level model is shown to enable prediction of both within-die and wafer-scale etch rate variation for arbitrary wafer loadings.

El presente trabajo desarrollado en el Hospital Méderi es una asesoría sobre modelos de pronósticos la cual consiste en analizar una base de datos de mercancía almacenada en la bodega general, suministrada por la entidad, mediante cuatro tipos de pronósticos diferentes, Promedio Móvil Ponderado, Promedio Móvil simple, Regresión Lineal y Suavizamiento Exponencial. Teniendo en cuenta el resultado arrojado por cada uno de los pronósticos, se hace una recomendación al hospital diciendo cual pronóstico debería utilizar para predecir la demanda con mayor precisión.

Esta tesis surge como una oportunidad de mejora en el almacén de cirugías del Hospital MÉDERI, debido a la recurrente devolución de medicamentos e insumos solicitados por las auxiliares de enfermería para las cirugías generales, lo cual repercute directamente en pérdidas de productividad laboral por los re-procesos, un aumento en los errores humanos y posibles pérdidas de medicamentos e insumos. Tras esta clara oportunidad de mejora, se toma la decisión de evaluar el proceso interno del almacén de cirugías con el fin de conocer el punto crítico que genera esta situación; dando como resultado los protocolos de cirugías, los cuales al haber sido diseñados varios años atrás basados en una demanda presentada en ese momento, no están acorde con la realidad que se vive actualmente el almacén de cirugía. Por lo tanto se decidió implementar un pronóstico de promedio móvil, para identificar la demanda real que se presentan en el Hospital MÉDERI, esto seguido de una identificación gráfica comparativa que permitiera definir el nuevo protocolo de cirugía general, lo cual permite disminuir la cantidad de material solicitado, con lo cual se generan disminuciones significativas en el inventario, perdidas y un aumento en la productividad.

Para lograr la integración de la cadena de valor, Brinsa S.A realizó la implementación del sistema de información, WMS, tecnificando los procesos del centro de almacenaje y alcanzando así la máxima utilización de este. BRINSA S.A. validó la teoría existente poniéndola en práctica y añadiendo características especiales que surgieron en el transcurso de esa implementación; ayudando a garantizar un éxito a la hora de aplicar un sistema de información dentro de una compañía.
