The Internet and World Wide Web have had, and continue to have, an incredible impact on our civilization. These technologies have radically influenced the way that society is organised and the manner in which people around the world communicate and interact. The structure and function of individual, social, organisational, economic and political life begin to resemble the digital network architectures upon which they are increasingly reliant. It is increasingly difficult to imagine how our ‘offline’ world would look or function without the ‘online’ world; it is becoming less meaningful to distinguish between the ‘actual’ and the ‘virtual’. Thus, the major architectural project of the twenty-first century is to “imagine, build, and enhance an interactive and ever changing cyberspace” (Lévy, 1997, p. 10). Virtual worlds are at the forefront of this evolving digital landscape. Virtual worlds have “critical implications for business, education, social sciences, and our society at large” (Messinger et al., 2009, p. 204). This study focuses on the possibilities of virtual worlds in terms of communication, collaboration, innovation and creativity. The concept of knowledge creation is at the core of this research. The study shows that scholars increasingly recognise that knowledge creation, as a socially enacted process, goes to the very heart of innovation. However, efforts to build upon these insights have struggled to escape the influence of the information processing paradigm of old and have failed to move beyond the persistent but problematic conceptualisation of knowledge creation in terms of tacit and explicit knowledge. Based on these insights, the study leverages extant research to develop the conceptual apparatus necessary to carry out an investigation of innovation and knowledge creation in virtual worlds. The study derives and articulates a set of definitions (of virtual worlds, innovation, knowledge and knowledge creation) to guide research. The study also leverages a number of extant theories in order to develop a preliminary framework to model knowledge creation in virtual worlds. Using a combination of participant observation and six case studies of innovative educational projects in Second Life, the study yields a range of insights into the process of knowledge creation in virtual worlds and into the factors that affect it. The study’s contributions to theory are expressed as a series of propositions and findings and are represented as a revised and empirically grounded theoretical framework of knowledge creation in virtual worlds. These findings highlight the importance of prior related knowledge and intrinsic motivation in terms of shaping and stimulating knowledge creation in virtual worlds. At the same time, they highlight the importance of meta-knowledge (knowledge about knowledge) in terms of guiding the knowledge creation process whilst revealing the diversity of behavioural approaches actually used to create knowledge in virtual worlds and. This theoretical framework is itself one of the chief contributions of the study and the analysis explores how it can be used to guide further research in virtual worlds and on knowledge creation. The study’s contributions to practice are presented as actionable guide to simulate knowledge creation in virtual worlds. This guide utilises a theoretically based classification of four knowledge-creator archetypes (the sage, the lore master, the artisan, and the apprentice) and derives an actionable set of behavioural prescriptions for each archetype. The study concludes with a discussion of the study’s implications in terms of future research.

Dojoji Temple ( Dōjōji, 1976) is a short puppet animation directed by Kihachirō Kawamoto. Influenced by Bunraku (Japanese puppet plays), emaki (painted scroll), Noh theatre and Japanese myth, Dojoji Temple tells of a woman’s unrequited love for a young priest. Heartbroken, she then transforms into a sea serpent and goes after the priest for revenge. While Kawamoto’s animation is rich with Japanese aesthetics and tragedy, his animation is peopled by puppets who do not speak. Limited and restrained though the puppets may be, their animated gestures speak volumes of powerful emotions. For our article, we will select several scenes from the animation, and interpret their actions so that we can further understand the mythical world of Dojoji Temple and the essential being of puppetry. Our gesture analysis will take into account cinematographic compositions, sound and bodily attires, among other elements.

This chapter has two major sections, one by Lederach and the apprentices, and one by Goldberg. The introduction above represents an amalgam of Lederach’s own writing and Goldberg’s, which summarizes some key information, but loses in written flow what it gains in information. As Goldberg reviewed Lederach’s initial chapter, she became deeply interested and asked Lederach for further materials. She conducted two interviews and collected background and supplementary materials and used them to explore some areas that were touched on by Lederach, but, if expanded, offered greater richness. In order to preserve the clarity of writing, the material will be presented in two sections. The first will include Lederach’s original chapter with the apprentice narratives. We start with an overview provided by John Paul that describes several practices incorporated into the process of the past three years. Each of the four apprentices will then reflect on how they experienced these practices and the impact, if any, they have had on their lives and professional careers. Each segment written by Lederach and the apprentices is written in the first person, starting with Lederach’s practices, below. Following will be Goldberg’s work deepening the information presented in Lederach’s section, and the conclusion.

The Sovereign Great Priority of Canada is a national Masonic organization which consists of seventy-six preceptories that are organized within fifteen districts. The no.8 Plantagenet, St. Catharines is listed under the Hamilton District .The warrant (document issued to authorize formation of a lodge) was issued to this preceptory on November 14th, 1866. This preceptory is still active and meets on the first Monday of every month excepting June, July, August and September. with information from the website Sovereign Great Priory of Canada Meaning of the Tyler/Tiler’s Register: Historically speaking, medieval craft guilds guarded their trade secrets. They placed a guard outside their doors. This person would generally be a junior apprentice who was not entitled to attend trade discussions. The Masons continued this use of doorkeepers. In 1723 in The First Book of Constitutions Dr. James Anderson mentioned “another brother to look after the door, but shall not be a member of it” and in regulation XXVI charged the use of “doorkeepers”. In the minutes of June 8, 1732 this person’s specific title was referred to as “the Tyler”. The word “tyler” appeared in print in new regulation XXVI of the 1738 Second Book of Constitutions. The Masonic ritual of today calls him “a brother without the door”. The Tyler is usually a Past Master who is very knowledgeable in Masonic law and customs. He does not need to be a member of the lodge. He greets brethren and assures that they are “duly qualified”. He gives the first impression of the lodge and insures that visitors and members sign the Tyler’s Register. with information from www.masonicsites.org

Over the last years we have seen a significant increase in scholarly production within the organization studies field in Brazil. However it is still not representative. The tendency to consume foreign and fashionable ideas unrestrainedly, to make use of imported, universal and non-contextualized explanations to inquiry phenomenon which are essentially local and particular, make it difficult to develop a true Brazilian tradition. This work is a result of an ambitious ethnographic adventure" of an acknowledged apprentice of sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's large body of knowledge. It is about taking reflexivity to the limit. It is about learning "through the body" in an effort - both theoretical and empirical - to investigate a Brazilian organizational phenomenon which reproduces the hierarchical side of our society and, under the disguise of the legitimacy offered by organizational discourse, help keeping the very structure of our society in a silent but powerful way. I also want this work to be an alert for the importance of contextualization as a means to avoid a recurring distortion of the scholarly production in administrative science: the mobilization of theoretical references in such a safe way that make explicitness totally unnecessary, the appropriation of concepts whose essence is strange to the nature of the very phenomenon which they aim to explain, and the insistence in the impersonal style, in third-voice narratives, as if it were possible to produce knowledge in social sciences with absolute impartiality. In this thesis I present the prototexto notion and to I base as a complex system while strategy of knowledge construction and reconexion of you know in physics teaching. Prototexto is a poetic narrative of the science, proposal and used initially as "instrument of creative" learning for students apprentice of science of the medium and technical teaching of the Vitória da Conquista's CEFET-BA, in the period of 1997-2004. Later become pregnant as a strategy of knowledge construction, in the Universidade Estadual da Bahia - UESB, the prototexto notion configures a complement to the mathematical formulation. The proposal of a poetic narrative of the science is that the apprentice of science starts to organize in an aesthetic-literary way your knowledge, dispersed in disciplines, starting from a theme of the physics. The prototexto emerges of my reflections concerning the classic science, identified for Edgar Morin as tends a thought excessively numeric, and that it has been reproduced in physics teaching, in most of the schools, limiting him/it to an order pattern with the mistake absence. They are operations of the prototexto: the poetic language, the pedagogic stamp, the unfinished of the argument, the system character and the apprentice's of science inclusion as subject implicated in the construction of the knowledge. the theoretical foundations are based Morin's proposition of the method as strategy, the beginning of the complementarity of Niels Bohr in conceiving excluding categories as face of a same phenomenon and the conception of creative time of Ilya Prigogine that enunciates the alliance among the nature and the man that it describes her

This thesis represents a didactic research linked to the Post-graduation Programme in Education of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte which aimed to approach the construction of the geometrical concepts of Volume of the Rectangular Parallelepiped, Area and Perimeter of the Rectangle adding a study of the Area of the Circle. The research was developed along with students from the 6th level of the Elementary School, in a public school in Natal/RN. The pedagogical intervention was made up of three moments: application of a diagnostic evaluation, instrument that enabled the creation of the teaching module by showing the level of the geometry knowledge of the students; introduction of a Teaching Module by Activities aiming to propose a reflexive didactic routing directed to the conceptual construction because we believed that such an approach would favor the consolidation of the learning process by becoming significant to the apprentice, and the accomplishment of a Final Evaluation through which we established a comparison of the results obtained before and after the teaching intervention. The data gathered were analyzed qualitatively by means of a study of understanding categories of mathematical concepts, in addition to using descriptive statistics under the quantitative aspect. Based on the theory of Richard Skemp, about categorization of mathematical knowledge, in the levels of Relational and Instrumental Understanding were achieved in contextual situations and varied proportions, thus enabling a contribution in the learning of the geometrical concepts studied along with the students who took part in the research. We believe that this work may contribute with reflections about the learning processes, a concern which remained during all the stages of the research, and also that the technical competence along with the knowledge about the constructivist theory will condition the implementation of a new dynamics to the teaching and learning processes. We hope that the present research work may add some contribution to the teaching practice in the context of the teaching of Mathematics for the intermediate levels of the Elementary School

The health transition experienced in Brazilian health care model requires a metamorphosis in human and society, placing new demands on health and education. The Faculty of Science, Culture and Extension of Rio Grande do Norte (Facex), aware of their responsibilities to the Health System, which brings the principle of comprehensiveness as its structural axis, dared to implement a course of nursing in complex thinking and Experiential Pedagogy Humanescente with curriculum inter / transdisciplinary. For deployment of proprosta was not enough to reform thinking of educators, there was a need corporalizar new teaching practices that are aimed at the integral formation of human beings. In this context, emerged the workshop on Human Education autopoietic, self-forming area of the educator, where he developed an Action Research Existential (PA-E) which enabled experience, describe and analyze how the human autopoietic educators could contribute to the practice educational humanescente transdisciplinary curriculum project. Were worked out in meetings, knowledge necessary to practice the transdisciplinary 1st Meeting - learn to create; 2nd Meeting - learn to recognize the laws of nature with emphasis on complexity theory, 3rd Meeting - learn to organize, 4th meeting - namely autoestruturar themselves; 5th Meeting - know how to choose, 6th Meeting - knowing innovate 7th Meeting - namely exchange. Next an autobiographical perspective, we chose the metaphorical possibility to narrate the ways and strategies covered by the author and apprentice in the company of the Little Prince de Saint-Exupery, in search of a sensible pedagogical practice complex, which promotes re-enchant transdisicplinar education. The route involved five methodological connections: a literature review which relate to training for care in undergraduate nursing: the study of learning processes that drive the formation humanopoiética, emphasizing the relationship that involves the complexity and embodiment in the educational process transdisciplinary, highlighting the analysis of what is to learn from the findings of biosciences and recent cognitive theories of Maturana and Varela, the description of the interdisciplinary curriculum of the nursing course of Facex and Training Workshop, Human autopoietic, with emphasis on Experiential Education Humanescente; the report of seven meetings of the Workshops (cocoon), recording the experiences and listening to educators (luminescent butterflies), the final reflections with learning opportunized. Experientiality lived through, the expressions and words, educators say the influence of workshops for their teaching practices, highlighting it as a space for selforganizing, creating, learning and enchantment, and can identify the workshop as a place of transformation necessary for deployment an interdisciplinary curriculum. The knowledge emerging from the study indicate the need for permanent spaces of self, in which the educator learns from its body, between cognitive processes and vital, and in the experiences of their formative process the opportunity to act on the dimensions of knowing and being

This study intends to analyze the social representation of teaching for students of first years of undergraduate courses in Education, Letters and Biology. The field of this research was the Federal University of Piaui - Campus of Picos in 2009. To reach the objective proposed above, was used the theory of social representations to the seizure of the elements which constitute such representations according to Moscovici and colleagues, considering the contribution of Abric with his Theory of Central Nucleus and Wagner with the Theory of Sociogenesis. Data were collected in two phases: first, through the Technique of Free Association of Words (TFAW) of which 100 subjects evoked representations of their teaching through the inductor terms 'to teach', 'student' and 'teacher'. For those data we used the EVOC software that promoted to detect the elements of the core and to conclude that the social representation of teaching is one of the work performed by a master / teacher who transmits, directed to an apprentice who learns, confined to the school involving the student with all his virtues to be smart, interested and dedicated, and teacher to be friend, wise bearer of knowledge and also intelligent. Then, using the Multiple Classification Procedure (MCP) only 10 subjects made ratings of 25 more evoked words in the first phase, for the analysis of data from the MPC with the use of the SPSS software we used Multidimensional Statistical Analysis (MSA) for the Free Classification we found three dimensions of Social Representation of Teaching: The Didactic, that focuses on teacher and student being superimposed, meaning the inseparability of these elements, the Affective, which presents the elements inherent in teachers with love as the strong point of this dimension, and the Formative, that is as ambiguous as ambivalent because it sees the teacher as a professional directed to help students get an education; for Directed Classification with Similarity Structure Analysis (SSA), we learn that teaching is a profession that materializes in the classroom, which is extremely true because the action happens in this teaching space, supposing a caring, loving, cheerful, capable, apt, patient, partner, responsible, dedicated, committed educator, who has wisdom and knows how to teach and help students through dialogue to there study and learning. All of it s necessary to occur the result of teaching, which is education in a disciplinary manner. The results point to a very traditional social representation of what is the role of teachers, the role of students and the role of the relationship itself between teaching and learning through the act of teaching. With this statement, we can confirm that the structure of Social Representation of Teaching for the investigated subjects reflects the sociogenetic conditions that engendered them, and that these conditions permeate their structural organization, in particular time-context in which social representation was captured
