Hexa-n-butylditin is prepared in high yield (83%), by reduction of bis(tri-n-butyltin) oxide with sodium borohydride in ethanol. The first stage is reduction. to tri-n-butyltin hydride (not isolated), which rapidly gives hexa-n-butylditin with the Loss of hydrogen under the basic reaction conditions.

Convenient route to enantiopure aryl cyclopentanes via Diels-Alder reaction of asymmetric dienes. Total synthesis of (+)-herbertene and (+)-cuparene

A general route for the synthesis of highly substituted aryl cyclopentanes has been developed involving Diels-Alder reaction of asymmetric dienes prepared from (+)-camphoric acid followed by aromatization of the resulting cyclohexene derivatives. Employing this protocol enantiospecific synthesis of (+)-herbertene and (+)-cuparene has been accomplished. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Orthogonal on-off BPSK: a convenient signaling scheme for near-far resistant detection in DS/CDMA

This paper proposes a convenient signaling scheme-orthogonal on-off BPSK (O3BPSK)-for near-far (NF) resistant detection in asynchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) systems (uplink). The temporally adjacent bits from different users in the received signals are decoupled by using the on-off signaling, and the original data rate is maintained with no increase in transmission rate by adopting an orthogonal structure. The detector at the receiver is a one-shot linear decorrelating detector, which depends upon neither hard decision nor specific channel coding. The application of O3 strategy to the differentially encoded BPSK (D-BPSK) sequences is also presented. Finally, some computer simulations are shown to confirm the theoretical analysis.

The convenient synthesis of a liquid-crystalline polyacrylate with a tetramethylene spacer

A protecting group approach to the synthesis of a liquid crystalline polyacrylate containing a tetramethylene spacer unit is described. This approach prevents the formation of side products obtained when a more direct synthetic pathway is used. The resulting material shows behaviour typical of a nematic liquid crystal polymer.

Intramolecular Diels-Alder furan-mediated synthesis of 8-aryl-3, 4-di-hydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones, convenient precursors of indeno[1,2,3-ij]isoquinolines

We describe herein preliminary studies on the Intramolecular Diels-Alder Furan-Mediated Synthesis of 8-Aryl-3, 4-di-hydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones that constitutes a new, formal synthesis of Indeno[1,2,3-ij]isoquinolines.

A convenient synthetic route for alkynylselenides from alkynyl bromides and diaryl diselenides employing copper(I)/imidazole as novel catalyst system

A mild, convenient, and effective strategy is developed for the synthesis of alkynyl selenides from alkynyl bromides and respective diselenides using Cul/imidazole as a novel catalyst system with Mg as additive. The Procedure affords the title compounds in moderate to good yield (51-89%). The main advantages of the protocol include the use of inexpensive copper catalyst, a novel Cu(I)/imidazole combination, and good yield of the products. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
