Morphology and protein patterns of honey bee drone accessory glands.

We used light and transmission electron microscopy to examine the morphology of the accessory glands of immature and mature adult males of Apis mellifera L. We also made an electrophoretic analysis of the protein content of the mature gland. The glands of the immature male actively secrete a mucous substance that can be seen in the lumen of the gland of the mature male. This secretion stains with mercury bromophenol blue and with periodic acid-Schiff reaction, which stain glyconjugates. The protein content was higher in the lumen secretion than in the gland wall extracts. The electrophoresis patterns of the wall extracts were different from those of the secretion found in the gland lumen.

Localization of rDNA sites in holocentric chromosomes of three species of triatomines (Heteroptera, Triatominae).

Chromatin organization in the holocentric chromosomes of three triatomines species was cytologically studied by fluorescent in situ hybridization with a 45S rDNA probe of Drosophila melanogaster to localize ribosomal genes. In Triatoma tibiamaculata, metaphases I showed telomeric highlights in a single, larger bivalent. In T. protacta, hybridization was detected in one of the telomeres of an autosomal chromosome. In T. platensis, there were highlights in a single, smaller chromosome (X chromosome). The results obtained did not agree with the expected localization of rDNA genes in the sex chromosomes of triatomines, as demonstrated by silver impregnation, and suggest that the chromosome reorganization that occurred in this group during evolution may be a more important mechanism involved in rDNA distribution.

Composition of constitutive heterochromatin of Pseudonannolene strinatii Mauriès, 1974 (Diplopoda, Spirostreptida) analyzed by AT/CG specific fluorochromes.

Triple staining with fluorochromes (DA/DAPI/CMA) and C-banding were used to characterize the composition of Pseudonannolene strinatii heterochromatin. C-banding showed C+ bands of different labeling intensity on chromosomes 1 and 2 in some cells. Fluorochrome staining revealed DAPI+ regions corresponding to the C-banding pattern, indicating that the heterochromatin of this species is abundant in AT-rich sequences.

This study conducts a theoretical and conceptual review on the social media field and the digital media tendencies of journalism. It is also pointed out how the fanpages development was conceived -- recently, these fanpages have been aiming to find a way to approach their readers and interact with them. How both newspapers found a brand-new model on their social networks and how this model contributed to a more participative and equal communication, which involves the social network users, are worth of mention goals in this research
