The perception of modern society regarding the nature and indigenous peoples came to be shaped in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with two major events, the invasion of Europeans in America and the scientific revolution. These events symbolize the cultural overlap and European thinking about the rest of the world. The current scenario is industrialism, consumism and cultural standardization driven by Cartesian thought. This work demonstrates, through literature research and data analysis, that this dominant model has caused the crisis of modernity, focusing especially on the environmental crisis that threatens human life. The solutions are present in the modern society the knowledge of indigenous peoples that is inherently ecological and sustainable by tradition. From the union of diverse cultures and knowledge dialog you can find solutions for today's problems and provide a renewal of relationships between modern society, indigenous peoples and nature. The World Conscious Pact presents this proposal which can be increased through public relations strategies in order to reconnect the man-nature bond, generating critical behavior with respect to the current dominant system and motivate society to adopt truly ecological postures. Influência do espaçamento do feixe de laser Nd: YAG na obtenção de óxidos e nitretos na superfície do titânio em pressão atmosférica

Neste trabalho investigou-se a modificação de superfície do titânio pela irradiação com feixe de Laser Nd:YAG. Os parâmetros do laser como a potência, o comprimento de onda, a frequência, a velocidade de varredura e a área de exposição foram mantidos constantes, exceto o espaçamento da matriz, o qual foi de 0,01 e 0,02 mm. A caracterização da superfície foi realizada por Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV) e Difração de Raios X (DRX), sendo que os espectros foram refinados pelo método Rietveld. Pela análise de MEV, observou-se uma mudança na topografia, obtendo uma superfície rugosa produzida pelo fenômeno de ablação. As análises por Rietveld dos espectros de difração de raios X detectaram TiN, Ti2N, TiO2 (anatásio e rutilo), sendo que a amostra com espaçamento 0,01 mm apresentou uma maior quantidade de óxidos e nitretos. Isso pode ser devido à sobreposição do feixe, induzindo à formação de uma superfície com maior estabilidade termodinâmica. Os óxidos e nitretos obtidos são de grande importância, pois são responsáveis por produzir uma maior interação entre o osso-implante.

Disturbios neuropsicológicos e síndrome da apneia do sono em crianças

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is characterized by snoring and / or repetitive pauses in breathing during sleep associated with hypoxemia and hypercapnia. Affects approximately 1-3% of children, especially preschoolers. There is an association of OSAS with negative impact on neurocognitive development. However, there are few studies using protocols to assess cognition and behavioral disorders in children with OSAS. The objective of this study was to analyze the major studies related to the topic within the last two decades. The main studies published between 1995 to 2011 were identified through MEDLINE and LILACS databases. We selected the most relevant for OSAS in children, neurocognitive effects and association between obstructive disorders / OSAS in the target population (children). It was concluded that the studies analyzed showed that there is strong evidence regarding the overlapping of OSAS in children with neurocognitive disorders and that treatment of OSAS has positive impact on neurocognitive development.

Lombalgia equina: diagnóstico e tratamento

Low back pain is considered a major cause of lameness and performance decay, but identify the location of the lesions and quantify the intensity of pain is difficult because often the most obvious clinical sign, in some cases, is not the pain itself, but, low athletic performance. The diagnosis and treatment of this disease are associated with a high cost and have a strong impact on the equine industry, since it results in direct economic losses. The diagnosis of low back pain is made through physical examination and additional tests, including radiography, ultrasound, thermography and blockades. Major injuries causing back pain in horses is the contact or overlap of the spinous processes, supraspinous desmitis, osteoarthritis of the articular processes, vertebral body lesions and myositis. Therapeutic measures used in the treatment of these diseases are systemic inflammatory steroid, local infiltration, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, changes in training and surgeries.
