Vivemos atualmente num inundo globalizado. A diversidade étnica, linguística e social, a religião c os novos costumes de cada família despertaram em mim a procura das melhores formas de educar as crianças e acolher as famílias, respeitando e aceitando a cultura de cada uma. A minha vivência pessoal, as minhas inquietações e a forma como fui acolhida em Portugal também foram motivações, tendo em conta que eu sou de outro país, onde o sistema da educação que recebi e a cultura em geral são bem diferentes em relação com a cultura que estou a viver agora. Sem dúvida a educação em si, em qualquer canto do mundo, tem como objetivo ajudar as crianças a integrarem-se e a fazerem aprendizagens, não ficando limitadas pela sua cultura própria. A diversidade das culturas é fonte de grande riqueza, pois se aprende a dar e a receber, em ampla complementaridade e reciprocidade. Assim, a partir de uma proposta de investigação, utilizando o paradigma qualitativo e interpretativo, usei como metodologia a realização de quatro entrevistas, com duas educadoras de jardim-de-infância da escola AIFSI c com duas famílias distintas, uma romena e a outra chinesa, que têm filhos na escola AIFSI. Pretendo com este estudo concluir que o processo de inclusão de crianças com culturas diferentes depende muito da forma como elas e as suas famílias são acolhidas, compreendidas, acarinhadas e motivadas na escola que frequentam.

Los problemas del desempleo y la pobreza en la Argentina suscitan discusiones, tanto en el campo intelectual como desde la sociedad civil, respecto de cuáles serían las formas de resolverlos. Estos debates implican una definición política acerca de qué sociedad y qué desarrollo queremos. Una de las propuestas más novedosas que se está desarrollando es la construcción de la Economía Social como alternativa al modelo neoliberal o a la economía capitalista. En este marco, el objetivo de esta ponencia es reflexionar acerca de las tensiones en la construcción de la Economía Social como política social, a partir de la experiencia del Plan Nacional Manos a la Obra. Parto de la hipótesis de que la política social para la promoción del auto-empleo desarrollada al margen de un marco legal adecuado y de una regulación eficiente de los mercados y de las protecciones para el trabajo asociado, genera formas de trabajo precarias. Por lo tanto las posibilidades de impacto en el bienestar (en términos de calidad del trabajo y protecciones sociales) de los destinatarios están fuertemente limitadas. En cuanto a la metodología utilizada, se trata de un estudio empírico en base a fuentes secundarias, fundamentalmente documentos, evaluaciones e informes de gestión producidos por el Ministerio de Desarrollo Social. Primero describiré brevemente los objetivos del Plan Nacional de Desarrollo Local y Economía Social "Manos a la Obra". Luego analizaré las tensiones que se plantean en la construcción de la Economía Social e intentaré plantear las potencialidades y limitaciones de esta política, a partir del análisis de datos respecto de su implementación. Finalmente esbozaré algunas conclusiones y preguntas que quedan abiertas para pensar la política social en relación con la política laboral y económica

A presente pesquisa investiga a formação de professores das ciências e sua perspectiva para o século XXI, a partir da análise das manifestações acadêmico-científicas de docentes doutores pesquisadores em educação científica nas áreas de Biologia, Química, Física, Matemática e Ciências da Natureza. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, cuja narrativa procura contemplar aspectos de formação dessas áreas em meio aos conflitos, embates, especificidades e necessidades do atual contexto educacional. Busco tratar de visões e assumir posições sobre o que os professores das Ciências precisam aprender, pela configuração das tendências de formação e das práticas de ensino e de aprendizagem consideradas no século XX, bem como das projeções do que se põe como desejável para o século XXI. Nesse âmbito, identifico cinco categorias analíticas que são postas a partir de entrevistas junto aos meus sujeitos de pesquisa. Em relação à primeira categoria de pesquisa as tendências apontam que os conteúdos científicos são imprescindíveis, porém não suficientes durante o processo educativo, havendo necessidade de juntar o seu valor formativo. A segunda categoria traz a consideração do aluno no processo de aprender e ensinar ciências. Dentre o que não pode mais ser admissível neste século, a terceira categoria discute a dissociação entre ciência, tecnologia e sociedade atrelada a uma visão fragmentada de ciência. A quarta categoria aponta o que é posto de novidade na formação de professores das ciências, e a quinta categoria põe em discussão as necessidades formativas de professores das ciências para o século XXI. As análises dessas tendências em função dos relatos e entrevistas desses sujeitos de pesquisa são responsáveis pela integração entre o ensinar e o aprender, compartilhando os saberes pedagógicos, filosóficos, sociológicos, científicos. A partir da literatura atual sobre a formação de professores de ciências, procuro dar conta de algumas inquietações que permeiam a investigação e corroboram com uma mudança epistemológica do ensino: Quais aspectos devem ser prioritariamente considerados no âmbito da formação de professores das ciências? Quais as necessidades formativas desses professores? As contribuições acadêmicas a respeito dos saberes profissionais dos professores têm contribuído sobremaneira para o estabelecimento de uma cultura reflexiva em torno da prática docente de forma bastante crítica. Este estudo teve como objetivo aplicar e avaliar a Análise Cefalométrica do Tecido Mole proposta por ARNETT et al. em jovens brasileiros, determinando seus valores médios e comparando com os dos autores. A amostra compôs-se de 60 indivíduos, sendo 24 do sexo masculino e 36 do sexo feminino. Todos brasileiros, leucodermas e portadores de oclusão normal natural, apresentando um mínimo de quatro das seis chaves de oclusão de ANDREWS. A utilização da posição natural da cabeça e da linha vertical verdadeira no momento da obtenção das telerradiografias compuseram a metodologia do trabalho. Avaliaram-se os fatores dentários e os esqueléticos, as espessuras do tecido mole, os comprimentos faciais, as projeções do tecido mole em relação à Linha Vertical Verdadeira e a harmonia intramandibular, a intermaxilar e a facial total. Os resultados demonstraram que os valores médios da amostra estudada apresentaram diferenças em relação aos valores normativos de ARNETT et al. na maioria das variáveis e quando comparados entre si, verificou-se que os americanos apresentaram altura facial maior, perfil facial mais reto e nariz mais proeminente que os brasileiros, tanto para o sexo masculino como para o feminino. O sexo masculino apresentou altura facial e espessura dos tecidos moles maior que o sexo feminino, porem, lábios superior e inferior menos protruídos em relação à Linha Vertical Verdadeira. A

Theta rhythm consists of an electrophysiological hippocampal oscillation present in mammalian species (4-12 Hz with variations across species). This oscillation is present during active waking and is also prevalent in local field potentials (LFP) during rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep). Several studies have shown that theta rhythm is important in cognitive tasks and that the medial septum is a key region for its occurrence. The septum sends cholinergic, GABAergic and glutamatergic projections to the hippocampus, which in turn projects axons to the septum. Besides the septum, other regions are involved in regulating theta rhythm, forming a complex network of interactions among brain areas that result in theta rhythm. Optogenetics is a recently developed method that has been widely used in various research areas. It allows us to manipulate the electrical activity of neurons through light stimulation. One of the existing techniques consists in using a viral vector to induce the neuronal expression of ion channels associated with the light-sensitive molecule rhodopsin (e.g. ChR2). Once infected, the neurons become sensitive to light of a particular wavelength. The present M. Sc. research aimed to perform luminous stimulation of the brain in anesthetized and freely behaving animals using chronically implanted electrodes and optical fibers in animals infected with a viral vector for ChR2 expression. Surgical viral injections were performed in the medial septum; histological results confirmed the expression of ChR2 by way of the presence of the eYFP reporter protein in the septum and also in hippocampal processes. Moreover, we performed acute experiments with luminous stimulation of the medial septum and LFP recordings of the septum and hippocampus of anesthetized animals. Action potentials were recorded in the septum. In these experiments we observed a significant increase in the firing rates of septal neurons during luminous stimulation (n = 300 trials). Furthermore, we found an early light-evoked response in the hippocampal LFP. Chronic experiments with luminous stimulation of the medial septum and hippocampus in freely behaving animals were also performed in combination with LFP recordings. We found that the luminous stimulation of the septum is able to induce theta rhythm in the hippocampus. Together, the results demonstrate that the luminous stimulation of the medial septum in optogenetically-modified animals causes relevant electrophysiological changes in the septum and the hippocampus.

The conventional control schemes applied to Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPF) are Harmonic extractor-based strategies (HEBSs) because their effectiveness depends on how quickly and accurately the harmonic components of the nonlinear loads are identified. The SAPF can be also implemented without the use of the load harmonic extractors. In this case, the harmonic compensating term is obtained from the system active power balance. These systems can be considered as balanced-energy-based schemes (BEBSs) and their performance depends on how fast the system reaches the equilibrium state. In this case, the phase currents of the power grid are indirectly regulated by double sequence controllers with two degrees of freedom, where the internal model principle is employed to avoid reference frame transformation. Additionally the DSC controller presents robustness when the SAPF is operating under unbalanced conditions. Furthermore, SAPF implemented without harmonic detection schemes compensate simultaneously harmonic distortion and reactive power of the load. Their compensation capabilities, however, are limited by the SAPF power converter rating. Such a restriction can be minimized if the level of the reactive power correction is managed. In this work an estimation scheme for determining the filter currents is introduced to manage the compensation of reactive power. Experimental results are shown for demonstrating the performance of the proposed SAPF system.

The circadian timing system (CTS), in rodents, consists of interconnected neural structures such as the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus, Intergeniculate Leaflet (IGL) of the thalamus, synchronous pathways and behavioral effectors. The SCN has been described as the major circadian pacemaker in several species of mammals, while the IGL appears to be involved in integration of photic and non-photic clues relaying them to SCN. The CTS allows an ordered internal temporal organization to the organism, providing the proper execution of physiological and behavioral mechanisms, which brings homeostasis. However, this stability is disrupted with aging process causing numerous pathological disorders, ranging from simple loss of physiological functions to decreases in cognitive performance. Therefore, is fundamental understanding the effects of senescence in this system. In this context, is proposed in this study to check if there are changes in IGL cytoarchitecture, neurochemical and retinal afferent markers with aging and their possible morpho-functional implications. To achieve this goal wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: young (3 months); Middle Age (13 months); Old (23 months). They were submitted to paraformaldhyde (4%) transcardiac perfusion to tissue fixation. Then, they had their brain removed and sectioned in 30 µm slices, which every sixth section were collected. This sections were processed by nissl method and immunostaining for GFAP, GAD, ENK, NPY and CTb in order to analyze the IGL features. It was observed a cell loss in middle age and old animals at Nissl, NPY and CTb stains. In addition, it was shown a increase in GFAP in middle aged animals compared to young and old ones. No differences were found in other neurochemichal stains. These data suggests IGL loss retinal afferents and neurons, in special the NPY-IR ones, likely having a compensatory gliogenesis. This supports the correlations between the CTS functional deficits and an anatomical deterioration of its components with the aging process.

Formal education, understood by the gradual process that occurs at school, aims at learning and systematic knowledge is of great interest to society as it benefits its individuals and leads to many positive effects, such as increased productivity and welfare (Johnes, Johnes, 2007). Understanding what influences the educational outcome is as important as the result itself, because lets you manage these variables in order to obtain a better student performance. This work uses the data envelopment analysis (DEA) to compare the efficiency of Rio Grande do Norte schools. In this nonparametric method, an efficiency frontier was construct from the best schools that use the inputs set to generate educational products. Therefore, the data used were obtain by Test Brazil and year 2011 School Census to state and municipal schools of Rio Grande do Norte. Some of the variables considered as inputs and outputs have been obtain directly these bases - the other two were prepared, using the Item Response Theory (IRT) - they are the socioeconomic and school infrastructure indices. As a first step, we compared several DEA models, with changes of input variables. Then was chose the non-discretionary model for which was deep the analysis of results. The results showed that only seven schools were efficient in the 5th and 9th grades simultaneously; there were no significant differences between the efficiency of municipal and state schools; and there were no differences between large and small schools. Analyzing the municipalities, Mossoró excelled in both years with the highest proportion of efficient schools. Finally, the study suggests that using the projections provided by the DEA method, the most inefficient schools would be able to achieve the goal IDEB in 2011, in other words, it is possible to improve the education of significant state taking the efficient schools as a basis for too much.

Introduction: The circadian system has neural projections for the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), directly interfering with sympathetic-vagal modulation of the cardiovascular system. Disturbances in the circadian system, such as phase changes in light-dark cycle (LD), has been related to the risk of development of cardiovascular diseases due to increased sympathetic tone and reduction o Heart Rate Variability (HRV - RR intervals). Purpose: Investigate the interaction between Circadian Timing System and cardiac autonomic control in rats. Materials and methods: We used 18 Wistar rats (♀, age = 139.9 ± 32.1 days, weight = 219.5 ± 16.2 g), divided into three distinct groups: Control (CG), phase delay of 6h (GDe) and phase advance of 6h (GAd). Three animals were excluded during data collection (CG/GDe/GAd - n=5). Telemeters were surgically implanted in each animal for continuous acquisition of electrocardiographic (ECG) signals (duration of 21 days in the CG and 28 days in GDe/ GAd). A LD cycle was established 12h: 12h, beginning of light at18:00h and dark at 06:00h. The animals remained in the same CG LD cycle throughout the experimental period, while, on the 14th day of registration, the GDe and GAd underwent a delay and an advance in 6h, respectively. Throughout the experimental period, the locomotor activity (LA), the mean heart rate (mHR) and variables related to iRR [mean RR (mRR), SDNN, RMSSD, LF, HF and LF/ HF ratio ] were recorded. All data were analyzed in blocks of 3 and 7 days, for the presence of circadian rhythm, values of Cosinor - mesor, amplitude and acrophase (paired t test), phase relationship, differences between light and dark (t test independent), averages every 30 minutes along each time series (two-way ANOVA with post hoc Bonferroni). The data block B1,M1 and M2 in CG served as benchmarks for comparisons between series of analysis of the GAT/GAV. Results: We observed circadian rhythmicity in the variables LA, mRR and mFC(p<0.01). mRR and mFC showed phase relationship with the LA in all three groups, being less stable in GAd. In the CG, no significant differences between blocks were found in any of the analyzes(p>0.05). Among the 7 day blocks, there was a significant reduction in mRR(p=0.04) and mFC(p=0.03) in GDe and significant reduction in HF mean(p=0.02) in GAd; and between 3 day blocks, a significant increase of LF/HF(p= 0.04) in the GDe; besides mRR(p=0.03), SDNN(p=0.04), RMSSD (p=0.04), LF (p=0.01) and HF(p=0.02) significant increase in the GAd. It was found that the differences between the means of the mRR, LA and mFC in light and dark phases were not significant after phase changes in some of the blocks/moments (GDe and GAd). No significant results were found when comparing rhythmic variables means every 30 minutes over the blocks, except for a significant decrease in mRR at the middle of the dark phase (B2) and the start of light phase (B3) - (p<0.01). Conclusion: phase advances and delays (6h) altered cardiac autonomic control in the experimental groups by temporarily HRV decrease. Phase advances apparently had greater negative interference in this process, in relation to the phase delays.

The pioneering work proposed by Skumanich (1972) has shown that the projected mean rotational velocity < v sini > for solar type stars follows a rotation law decreases with the time given by t −1/2 , where t is the stellar age. This relationship is consistent with the theories of the angular momentum loss through the ionized stellar wind, which in turn is coupled to the star through its magnetic field. Several authors (e.g.: Silva et al. 2013 and de Freitas et al. 2014) have analyzed the possible matches between the rotational decay and the profile of the velocity distribution. These authors came to a simple heuristic relationship, but did not build a direct path between the exponent of the rotational decay (j) and the exponent of the distribution of the rotational velocity (q). The whole theoretical scenario has been proposed using an efficient and strong statistical mechanics well known as non-extensive statistical mechanics. The present dissertation proposes effectively to close this issue by elaborating a theoretical way to modify the q-Maxwellians’ distributions into q-Maxwellians with physics links extracted from the theory of magnetic braking. In order to test our distributions we have used the GenevaCapenhagen Survey data with approximately 6000 F and G field stars limited by age. As a result, we obtained that the exponents of the decay law and distribution follow a similar relationship to that proposed by Silva et al. (2013).
Influência das condições ambientais no verdor da vegetação da caatinga frente às mudanças climáticas

The Caatinga biome, a semi-arid climate ecosystem found in northeast Brazil, presents low rainfall regime and strong seasonality. It has the most alarming climate change projections within the country, with air temperature rising and rainfall reduction with stronger trends than the global average predictions. Climate change can present detrimental results in this biome, reducing vegetation cover and changing its distribution, as well as altering all ecosystem functioning and finally influencing species diversity. In this context, the purpose of this study is to model the environmental conditions (rainfall and temperature) that influence the Caatinga biome productivity and to predict the consequences of environmental conditions in the vegetation dynamics under future climate change scenarios. Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) was used to estimate vegetation greenness (presence and density) in the area. Considering the strong spatial and temporal autocorrelation as well as the heterogeneity of the data, various GLS models were developed and compared to obtain the best model that would reflect rainfall and temperature influence on vegetation greenness. Applying new climate change scenarios in the model, environmental determinants modification, rainfall and temperature, negatively influenced vegetation greenness in the Caatinga biome. This model was used to create potential vegetation maps for current and future of Caatinga cover considering 20% decrease in precipitation and 1 °C increase in temperature until 2040, 35% decrease in precipitation and 2.5 °C increase in temperature in the period 2041-2070 and 50% decrease in precipitation and 4.5 °C increase in temperature in the period 2071-2100. The results suggest that the ecosystem functioning will be affected on the future scenario of climate change with a decrease of 5.9% of the vegetation greenness until 2040, 14.2% until 2070 and 24.3% by the end of the century. The Caatinga vegetation in lower altitude areas (most of the biome) will be more affected by climatic changes.

This study suggests sonorous ambiences from the propose of images configured according to the description in “A Visagem da Moça Caetana” by Ariano Suassuna in order to create individual sonorous possibilities that may help musicians to play the piece. The cycle, composed in 1996 (for voice, viola, cello, bass clarinet/clarinet), is formed by three untitled songs. Its text is an excerpt from the “Folheto XLIV”, from the Romance d’A Pedra do Reino e o príncipe do sangue do vai-e-volta, and describes a sentence of death illustrated by symbols of the Armorial imagery, with neologisms and the peculiar accent from the Sertão in northeast Brazil. In addition to the analysis of technical difficulties to play, this study informs interpreters of the sonorous timbre and texture used by Nelson Almeida to describe tradition through contemporary musical language. The metaphors and transgressions of reason in Suassuna’s book were explored to create three image compositions so that they may lead interpreters to the sonorous description of the inanimate objects and the affections to which the poetry refers, expanding any technical-interpretative indications limited by musical notation. This research used the Visagem scores, the literature on the theme, discussions with the musicians that played the piece, interviews with Almeida, and composers’ reports. To illustrate the theory, the three images are available, printed as woodcut in cordel literature.

Due to demographic transition process, the educational public sector politics formers encounter a highly specific demographic situation because, nowadays, despite the demographic transition, population is still growing because of the demographic inertia; however, due to steady decline in fertility, young population tends to decrease in next years. In this way, aiming to make high school widely accessible in the country, the issue of education quality is highlighted as well the importance of the physical structure of schools and their teaching equipments to confirm a favorable or not environment for developing educational processes. In this way, this work aims to relate the enrollment of students as school types with the demand of young people who will be able to attend high school on the Rio Grande do Norte state by the year of 2020, emphasizing teaching unities structural aspects, from a school profiling to the design of three prospective alternatives. So, from INEP's Scholar Census data and IBGE population's projections, this work is composed by four stages: i) literature review about research related subjects; ii) database design and build; iii) school profiling; and, iv) prospective alternatives creation. As results, three alternatives relate potential demand and enrollment using the built profiles and they are: i) “Alternative A” attends PEE's requirements related to demands but do not provide improvements in the school structural aspects; ii) “Alternative B” points into an increase of enrollment offering to the detriment of school's structural conditions which are offered to these students; iii) “Alternative C” propitiates a quantitative enrollment increasing combined with improvements on school's physical structure. These alternatives help to support decision making related to goals and realization of universal access with physical conditions which are necessary to a favorable environment to educational activity development.
