Resumo:
alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticulate films could be formed on the surface of alpha-Fe2O3 hydrosol after aging of the hydrosol or by compressing of the nanoparticles on the sol surface, in. which a three-dimensional ordered structure was constructed by the Langmuir-Blodgett; technique and colloid chemical methods. The structure of the LB film was characterized by AFM, TEM, XPS, and UV-vis spectra and small-angle X-ray diffraction. Gas-sensing measurement shows that the LB film has good sensitivity to alcohols at room temperature,

The steady-state fluorescence properties of naphthalene-labeled polymers dispersed in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) cast films were studied under tensile loadings at 80 degreesC. The labeled polymers were composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and 1-naphthylmethyl methacrylate (NMMA). Three of the copolymers were used in this work, and the contents of NMMA were 0.59 mol % (CP1), 22.0 mol % (CP2), and 56.7 mol % (CP3), respectively. The fluorescence spectra of the films containing CP1 and CP2were unchanged during elongation. For the film containing CP3, the excited monomer emission of naphthyl groups at around 337 nm decreased with increasing applied tensile strain. The strain enhanced the emission ascribed to the excimer of the naphthyl groups in the region of 390-420 nm. The ratio of fluorescence intensities at 400 nm and 337 mn, I-400/I-337, increased with the applied strain, which indicates that CP3 is a sensitive probe for detecting the structural changes of polymer matrices. The obtained results mean that the excimer-forming sites in the PMMA films during elongation depend both on the applied strain and the concentration of naphthyl groups in the dispersed polymer probes. The thermal influence on the electrical conductivity of polyimide film surfaces induced by KrF-laser irradiation was investigated, The formation of conducting phases was demonstrated to be highly temperature sensitive, as evidenced by strong dependence of the electrical conductivity on repetition rate and ambient temperature. XPS and Raman studies showed that the efficiency of the formation of conducting phases could be enhanced by the increase of temperature on irradiated polyimide film surfaces. After the disruption of polymeric chain, the carbon-enriched clusters remained on the irradiated polyimide film surfaces organized into polycrystalline graphite-like clusters responsible for electrical conductivity. The resulting dangling bonds from the decomposition process of polyimide acted as centers for the rearrangement of carbon-enriched clusters. It is suggested that the motion of radicals was promoted with increasing the temperature. Therefore the formation of polycrystalline graphite-like clusters benefited from high remaining temperature on the irradiated polyimide film surfaces. These results revealed that thermal influence played a dominant role on the formation of conducting phases.

Ultrathin multilayer films of a polybasic lanthanide heteropoly tungstate-molybdate complex and a cationic polymer of quaternized poly(4-vinylpyridine) partially complexed with osmium bis(2,2'-bipyridine) have been fabricated on a gold electrode precoated with a cysteamine self-assembled monolayer. The multilayer films have been characterized by optical spectroscopy, small-angle X-ray diffraction, and electrochemical methods (cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance). Especially, the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is developed to monitor the layer deposition processes. It provides important information such as double-layer capacitance and charge-transfer resistance. All obtained results reveal regular film growth with each layer adsorption. The possibility of the formation of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films with dimethyldioctadecylammonium (DODA) after the addition of cobalt(II)-substituted Dawson-type tungstodiphosphate anion (briefed as (H2O)(CoP2W17O618-)-P-11) in the subphase has been explored. Marked modifications of the compression isotherms are observed when this anion is dissolved in the subphase, which demonstrates that the polyanions interact with the monolayers. LB films have been readily obtained from this system. The adsorption Fourier transform IR (FT IR) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) have been used to investigate the morphological and molecular structure of the deposited film. The FT IR results showed the presence of the polyanion within the LB films, and the shift for its characteristic bands may be related to the presence of positively charged DODA. AFM measurement reveals that the LB films of DODA/(H2O)(CoP2W17O618)-P-II are regularly and uniformly deposited on the substrate. XRD experiments prove that the lamellar structure of the LB films of DODA/(H2O)(CoP2W17O618-)-P-II is well-defined. The LB films of DODA/(H2O)(CoP2W17O618-)-P-II immobilized onto an indium-oxide (ITO) glass, in aqueous solutions of pH 2.0-5.0, show quite facile redox reactions even for multilayers. All the experiments carried out in the present study suggest that the new materials of heteropolyanions can be formed by LB techniques and beneficial physicochemical properties of heteropolyanions can be maintained/enhanced through molecular-level design. A novel organic-inorganic composite film was formed by attaching Keegin-type heteropolyanion, SiW12O404- (devoted briefly as SiW12), on a glassy carbon electrode derivatized by 4-aminophenyl group. The composite film has an ionic bonding character between SiW12 and the surface amino group, which greatly improves the Blm stability and exhibits a more reversible electrochemical behavior. The modified electrode offers an excellent and stable electrocatalytic response for the reduction of nitrite. Possible mechanism was provided for the reaction of nitrite with SiW12O404-/aminophenyl composite film.

The electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol at the Titanium oxide (TiOx, x<2) film modified with Pt microparticles has been studied. The results show that the modified electrodes exhibit a significant electrocatalytic activity and good stability for the oxidation of methanol. Under the optimal conditions, the peak current density at 0.58 V for the oxidation of methanol in the positive-going sweep is about 526 mA/cm(2) at the scan rate of 5 mV/s in 0.5 mol/L CH3OH and 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution and the over potential of the methanol oxidation at the modified electrode increases about 30 similar to 40 mV after 70 minutes at the current density of 100 mA/cm(2) and 50 mA/cm(2). The enhanced electrocatalytic activity and good stability are ascribed to the high dispersion of Pt microparticles in and on the TiOx film and the synergistic effect between Pt microparticles and TiOx.

A conducting layer with the conductivity of 1.2 Omega(-1)cm(-1) stripped in a solvent from KrF-laser-irradiated polyimide thin film is taken as a sample to determine the microstructure of the conducting layer. Fourier-transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies show the formation of the carbon-rich clusters after irradiation. The element analysis gives the atomic ratio of C:H:N:O for the carbon-rich cluster as 60:20:3:1. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction indicates that the conducting layer is mainly amorphous carbon with a small amount of the short-range ordered carbon-rich clusters. This study suggests a structural model with three-layer carbon sheets linked together in a random fashion for the short-range ordered carbon-rich clusters. The interplanar spacing is 3.87 Angstrom and the layer diameter 25 Angstrom. The transport model of variable-range hopping in three dimensions is used to explain the conducting behavior of the conducting layer. In our case, the short-range ordered carbon-rich clusters are assumed to be conducting islands dispersed in the amorphous carbon-rich cluster matrix.

The rare earth complex oxides with different types have been synthesized. Their structures and electric properties have been investigated. According to our experimental results, the effects of the outest shell electronic configuration, electron spin state, electron transport path and formation of cluster on the electric properties of rare earth complex oxides have been summarized. When the electrons in the outest shell of the central metallic ion are unpair, and the outest shell is not half-filled, the electric conductibilities of these compounds are better, If there is a -M-X-M-X- or -M-M-M- (the distances between two atoms <0.31 nm) continuous electron transport path, and the electron configurations of the central metallic ion conform to the above condition, then the electric conductibilities are good, The isolate cluster can not become the continuous electron transport path, therefore, the formation of the isolate cluster will reduce the conductibility.

Amperometic flow measurements were made at +0.55 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) in 0.1 mol l-1 KOH electrolyte with an Ni(II) chemically modified electrode (CME) with an Eastman-AQ polymer film. The use and characteristics of a Ni(II)-containing crystalline and polymer-modified electrode obtained by a double coating step as a detector for amino acids in a flow-injection system using reversed-phase liquid chromatography are described. The detection of these analytes is based on the higher oxidation state of nickel (NiOOH) controlled by the applied potential. The electroanalytical parameters and the detection current for a series of amines and amino acids were investigated. The use of such a CME in the flow-injection technique was found to be suitable in a solution at low pH. The linear range for glycine is 5 X 10(-6)-0.1 mol 1-1 with a detection limit of 1.0 X 10(-6) mol l-1. A 1 X 10(-4) mol 1-1 mixture of serine and tyrosine was also detected after separation on an Nucleosil C18 column.

A study has been made of the crystallization behavior of polypropylene (PP) filled with rare earth oxides under isothermal conditions. These rare earth oxides include lanthanum oxide (La2O3), yttrium oxide (Y2O3), and a mixture of rare earth oxides containing 70% Y2O3 (Y2O3-0.70). A differential scanning calorimeter was used to monitor the energetics of the crystallization process from the melt. During isothermal crystallization, dependence of the relative degree of crystallinity on time was described by the Avrami equation. It has been shown that the addition of any of the three rare earth oxides causes a considerable increase in the overall crystallization rate of PP but does not influence the mechanism of nucleation and growth of the PP crystals. The analysis of kinetic data according to nucleation theories shows that the increase in crystallization rate of PP in the composites is due to the decrease in surface energy of the extremity surfaces. The relative contents of the beta-form in the composites are somewhat higher than that in the plain PP. However, the contents of the beta-form in the plain PP and the composites are all very low relative to those of the alpha-form and the influence of the formation of the beta-form on the crystallization kinetics can be neglected.

The behaviour of the electroplated copper film electrode on tin oxide/glass or glassy carbon surface was studied in potassium hydroxide medium by cyclic voltammetry and in situ transmission spectroelectrochemistry. The results indicate that the electroplated copper film electrode is similar to a copper electrode and cyclic voltammetry with this electrode affords more resolution. The anodic peaks were found to correspond successively to the adsorption of oxygen, the formation of a surface layer of Cu2O, the formation of a surface layer of Cu(OH)2 or CuO and formation of a thick multilayer film of CuO. This is the first time it has been proposed that a surface layer of Cu(OH)2 or CuO is formed from the oxidation of the surface layer of Cu2O. Similarly, a clear interpretation is presented that the cathodic peaks correspond successively to the reduction of CuO to Cu2O, the reductions of Cu2O to Cu and the soluble Cu(II) species to Cu. On the other hand, a shoulder peak related to the chemical transformation of Cu(OH)2 to CuO was first observed.

La-0.8Sr(0).2CoO(3) (LSCO) oxide powder was prepared using the adsorption properties of cellulose. The preparation process was studied by XRD, FTIR, TG-DTA and CO2-TPD techniques. The results of XRD, IR and TG-DTA testified that cellulose could successfully reserve the homogeneity of the solution system to the solid precursor. During the early stage of pyrolysis, cellulose was partially oxidized, and some COO- groups appeared in its texture, which were then complexed with the adsorbed metal ions, and effectively suppressed the aggregation of metal ions. Formation of a pure perovskite and the properties of the powder resulted were found to be significantly influenced by the cellulose to metal nitrate ratio. Also the properties of the resulting powder were greatly influenced by the calcination conditions. If the produced carbon dioxide could not be eluted in time, carbonate would be formed in the bulk. Hence, a high calcination temperature (> 800 degreesC) was needed to acquire a pure phase LSCO. At optimized conditions, nano-crystal LSCO could be obtained at as low as 500 degreesC.
