I-SS: integrated supervision systems approach based on interactive components

Process supervision is the activity focused on monitoring the process operation in order to deduce conditions to maintain the normality including when faults are present Depending on the number/distribution/heterogeneity of variables, behaviour situations, sub-processes, etc. from processes, human operators and engineers do not easily manipulate the information. This leads to the necessity of automation of supervision activities. Nevertheless, the difficulty to deal with the information complicates the design and development of software applications. We present an approach called "integrated supervision systems". It proposes multiple supervisors coordination to supervise multiple sub-processes whose interactions permit one to supervise the global process

El proyecto se plantea para elaborar un itinerario educativo partiendo de una idea fundamental, conocer Asturias, partiendo de conocer el medio m??s pr??ximo a ellos, en este caso Avil??s. Como complemento al material escrito, se va a elaborar un v??deo, diapositivas y transparencias que sirvan par realizar actividades en el aula sin olvidar las visitas que los alumnos hagan a los sitios m??s representativos. Se presenta una memoria con diapositivas, un v??deo did??ctico y un master para realizar otras copias originales. Los contenidos del proyecto son: introducci??n al estudio de Avil??s desde el Monte de la Luz; localizaci??n y concejos lim??trofes; estudio de la estructura de la villa; la ria de Avil??s; estudio de la econom??a; el Monte de la Luz; instalaciones como Ensidesa; monumentos; escudo de Avil??s; posibilidades de ocio en Avil??s.. En la memoria el recorrido se hace a trav??s de la historia, desde la Prehistoria hasta la actualidad. Los autores son profesores de centros adscritos al CEP de Avil??s.

Laser Health and Safety Interactive Video

This short video is designed to make you think about the safety aspects of working with lasers within laser laboratories. Postgraduates and research fellows work with many different types of lasers in a variety of different experimental conditions. These lasers are often more powerful than those used as an undergraduate and require additional safety practices. The video was demonstrated to the EUNIS 2008 conference Aarhus, Denmark, and was a finalist in the Dorup E-Learning Award.

What is Multimedia

This presentation is for students on the 3rd year ECS Multimedia course where students run their own conference, and submit and review papers. This presentation introduces them to the topic of Multimedia Systems, and explains a number of key areas of the subject.

Multimedia Systems

These are the materials for the Multimedia Systems course run in ECS. Multimedia Systems is taught rather differently than most courses. Although there is a lecture series, this is to support the main activity - the organisation and participation is a student conference. The coursework is to produce a short paper on a chosen topic to be presented as a paper, poster or demonstration at a course conference to be held at the end of the semester. The process of producing and reviewing the coursework and then participating in the conference has been designed to be the means by students cover the full range of material associated with Multimedia Systems.
