An auction model is used to increase the individual profits for market players with products they do not use. A Financial Transmission Rights Auction has the goal of trade transmission rights between Bidders and helps them raise their own profits. The ISO plays a major rule on keep the system in technical limits without interfere on the auctions offers. In some auction models the ISO decide want bids are implemented on the network, always with the objective maximize the individual profits for all bidders in the auction. This paper proposes a methodology for a Financial Transmission Rights Auction and an informatics application. The application receives offers from the purchase and sale side and considers bilateral contracts as Base Case. This goal is maximize the individual profits within the system in their technical limits. The paper includes a case study for the 30 bus IEEE test case.

This paper addresses the optimal involvement in derivatives electricity markets of a power producer to hedge against the pool price volatility. To achieve this aim, a swarm intelligence meta-heuristic optimization technique for long-term risk management tool is proposed. This tool investigates the long-term opportunities for risk hedging available for electric power producers through the use of contracts with physical (spot and forward contracts) and financial (options contracts) settlement. The producer risk preference is formulated as a utility function (U) expressing the trade-off between the expectation and the variance of the return. Variance of return and the expectation are based on a forecasted scenario interval determined by a long-term price range forecasting model. This model also makes use of particle swarm optimization (PSO) to find the best parameters allow to achieve better forecasting results. On the other hand, the price estimation depends on load forecasting. This work also presents a regressive long-term load forecast model that make use of PSO to find the best parameters as well as in price estimation. The PSO technique performance has been evaluated by comparison with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based approach. A case study is presented and the results are discussed taking into account the real price and load historical data from mainland Spanish electricity market demonstrating the effectiveness of the methodology handling this type of problems. Finally, conclusions are dully drawn.

We examine satisfaction with HRM practices, namely recruitment, training and rewarding in NPOs and attitudes regarding the appropriateness of these practices. The participants in this study are 76 volunteers, affiliated to 4 different NPOs, which work in hospitals and have direct contact with patients and their families. Analysing aggregate results we show that volunteers are more satisfied with training, and consider that the training strategies are very appropriate. After identifying differences between organisations we discover that in some organizations volunteers are satisfied with rewards, but in opposition they have negative attitudes regarding the appropriateness of the recognition strategies and vice-versa an opposite relation between satisfaction with reward and recognition strategies and the process of reward and recognition. We also name the more and less satisfied volunteers.

As unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI), so das reas hospitalares que mais dinheiro consomem nas instituies pblicas. As funes dos profissionais de sade so imprescindveis, mas tambm a logstica e gesto so de vital importncia e como tal, tm de ser avaliadas. Por isso, todos os indicadores clnicos, econmico-financeiros, recursos humanos, produtividade, qualidade - so importantes para que a gesto possa, dinmica e oportunamente, ter informao til para a tomada de decises. Assim, a garantia de uma gesto eficiente dos recursos cada vez mais importante de forma a satisfazer no s os pacientes como toda a estrutura hospitalar. Nos tempos que correm, e com a situao socioeconmica de crise que se vive, de extrema importncia saber com o maior nvel de detalhe possvel, com que recursos se pode contar. importante quantificar de forma eficaz e eficiente como so utilizados os recursos, para satisfazer com o maior nvel de qualidade possvel um paciente que entre numa UCI. Para tal, a utilizao de sistemas de informao (SI) e das ferramentas indicadas na gesto de uma unidade hospitalar, so de grande importncia. Nesta tese, proposta uma ferramenta, que seja simples e de fcil utilizao, desenvolvida com recurso a tecnologia ROLAP para a extraco e anlise de indicadores numa UCI, e que possa ser facilmente integrada num software de gesto do dia-a-dia.

O conceito de Liderana tem sido amplamente estudado por diversos autores, sendo j considerado pela literatura como um tema clssico evolutivo. A investigao que aqui se apresenta pretende compreender a mais recente abordagem a esse conceito - a Liderana Autntica, no contexto especfico de um CH pblico em Portugal. Alm disso, seu propsito perceber se uma Liderana Autntica preditora de um Clima Organizacional Autentiztico e se ambos os construtos explicam a Satisfao - com o trabalho em geral e com a superviso - e a Sade Mental dos trabalhadores. Procura, ainda, mediante anlises exploratrias, estudar a influncia de algumas variveis demogrficas e profissionais na Liderana Autntica, no Clima Organizacional Autentiztico, na Satisfao e na Sade. Participaram neste estudo de caso 278 trabalhadores, de diferentes grupos profissionais e vnculos contratuais, tendo os resultados obtidos apontado para uma indubitvel relao preditiva entre a Liderana Autntica e a Satisfao com a Superviso, a Satisfao com o Trabalho em Geral e a Sade Mental. A Liderana Autntica igualmente uma preditora significativa do Clima Organizacional Autentiztico. Este ltimo afigura-se, para a amostra, como explicativo de maior Satisfao e Sade Mental dos trabalhadores. No que respeita ao estudo das variveis demogrficas (sexo, idade, estado civil e habilitaes literrias) e profissionais (vnculo contratual, grupo profissional, nvel da organizao, antiguidade e sexo do superior hierrquico) em funo das variveis em estudo (Liderana Autntica, Clima Organizacional Autentiztico, Satisfao e Sade), concluiu-se que as mulheres evidenciam nveis inferiores de Sade Mental, comparativamente aos homens. Os homens denotam menor perceo de Liderana Autntica que as mulheres. Os mais escolarizados evidenciam menor Sade Mental e maior perceo de Liderana Autntica que os menos escolarizados. O grupo tcnico de sade est mais satisfeito com o trabalho em geral mas evidencia menor Sade Mental que o grupo tcnico operacional. Os trabalhadores cuja chefia do sexo feminino demonstram nveis inferiores de Sade Mental. Por fim, comparadas as percees de Liderana Autntica entre chefias e trabalhadores no chefias, inferimos que so os primeiros a perceber os lderes como mais autnticos. O estudo apresenta as suas concluses e aponta estratgias de interveno em termos da Gesto e Desenvolvimento e Recursos Humanos para o CH em investigao.

Estuaries are perhaps the most threatened environments in the coastal fringe; the coincidence of high natural value and attractiveness for human use has led to conflicts between conservation and development. These conflicts occur in the Sado Estuary since its location is near the industrialised zone of Peninsula of Setbal and at the same time, a great part of the Estuary is classified as a Natural Reserve due to its high biodiversity. These facts led us to the need of implementing a model of environmental management and quality assessment, based on methodologies that enable the assessment of the Sado Estuary quality and evaluation of the human pressures in the estuary. These methodologies are based on indicators that can better depict the state of the environment and not necessarily all that could be measured or analysed. Sediments have always been considered as an important temporary source of some compounds or a sink for other type of materials or an interface where a great diversity of biogeochemical transformations occur. For all this they are of great importance in the formulation of coastal management system. Many authors have been using sediments to monitor aquatic contamination, showing great advantages when compared to the sampling of the traditional water column. The main objective of this thesis was to develop an estuary environmental management framework applied to Sado Estuary using the DPSIR Model (EMMSado), including data collection, data processing and data analysis. The support infrastructure of EMMSado were a set of spatially contiguous and homogeneous regions of sediment structure (management units). The environmental quality of the estuary was assessed through the sediment quality assessment and integrated in a preliminary stage with the human pressure for development. Besides the earlier explained advantages, studying the quality of the estuary mainly based on the indicators and indexes of the sediment compartment also turns this methodology easier, faster and human and financial resource saving. These are essential factors to an efficient environmental management of coastal areas. Data management, visualization, processing and analysis was obtained through the combined use of indicators and indices, sampling optimization techniques, Geographical Information Systems, remote sensing, statistics for spatial data, Global Positioning Systems and best expert judgments. As a global conclusion, from the nineteen management units delineated and analyzed three showed no ecological risk (18.5 % of the study area). The areas of more concern (5.6 % of the study area) are located in the North Channel and are under strong human pressure mainly due to industrial activities. These areas have also low hydrodynamics and are, thus associated with high levels of deposition. In particular the areas near Lisnave and Eurominas industries can also accumulate the contamination coming from guas de Moura Channel, since particles coming from that channel can settle down in that area due to residual flow. In these areas the contaminants of concern, from those analyzed, are the heavy metals and metalloids (Cd, Cu, Zn and As exceeded the PEL guidelines) and the pesticides BHC isomers, heptachlor, isodrin, DDT and metabolits, endosulfan and endrin. In the remain management units (76 % of the study area) there is a moderate impact potential of occurrence of adverse ecological effects and in some of these areas no stress agents could be identified. This emphasizes the need for further research, since unmeasured chemicals may be causing or contributing to these adverse effects. Special attention must be taken to the units with moderate impact potential of occurrence of adverse ecological effects, located inside the natural reserve. Non-point source pollution coming from agriculture and aquaculture activities also seem to contribute with important pollution load into the estuary entering from guas de Moura Channel. This pressure is expressed in a moderate impact potential for ecological risk existent in the areas near the entrance of this Channel. Pressures may also came from Alccer Channel although they were not quantified in this study. The management framework presented here, including all the methodological tools may be applied and tested in other estuarine ecosystems, which will also allow a comparison between estuarine ecosystems in other parts of the globe.

A avaliao de empresas sempre constituiu um tema de elevada reflexo, sendo que vrios especialistas tentam encontrar os modelos que melhor se adaptam a situaes especficas e para as quais precisam de determinar um valor. No contexto empresarial portugus comea a ganhar significncia a prtica da gesto orientada para a criao de valor (Value-Based Management). O conceito de Value-Based Management assistiu a um particular desenvolvimento nos ltimos 20 anos como resultado da globalizao e desregulamentao dos mercados financeiros, dos avanos nas tecnologias de informao e do aumento da importncia dos investidores institucionais. Vrios analistas apresentaram evidncia de que as empresas que adotam sistemas VBM melhoram o seu desempenho econmico em relao a outras de dimenso semelhante no mesmo setor. neste contexto que o EVA (Economic Value Added) se apresenta como uma mtrica de desempenho privilegiada nos processos de controlo das decises estratgicas tomadas. No presente trabalho pretendemos abordar o conceito da gesto baseada na criao de valor e a sua importncia para o acionista, o que implica rever outros modelos de avaliao tradicionais baseados no valor contabilstico. Como mtrica de avaliao do desempenho passado da empresa ao nvel da criao de valor vamos dar particular importncia ao estudo do EVA, fazendo referncia possvel correlao entre esta mtrica e o MVA (Market Value Added). O objetivo principal analisar empiricamente a relao do EVA como medida de desempenho associada criao de valor para os acionistas com a performance da empresa. Com efeito, vamos efetuar um estudo de caso, que vai incidir sobre um grupo empresarial portugus, referncia no seu setor de atividade, o Grupo Galp Energia, cotado na Euronext Lisbon. Pensamos que a crescente prtica da gesto baseada na criao de valor nas empresas cotadas em Portugal e a necessidade de aferir os resultados desta, tornam esta investigao pertinente, para alm do facto de serem poucos os estudos empricos questo da criao de valor e a sua correlao com o valor acrescentado de mercado e com o valor de mercado dos capitais prprios das empresas cotadas em Portugal.

O presente relatrio possui o propsito de apresentar o estgio curricular desenvolvido na empresa Santa Casa da Misericrdia de Felgueiras, iniciado a 1 de maio de 2013, englobando horas de aprendizagem e consolidao de conhecimentos adquiridos no percurso acadmico. A realizao do presente estgio est enquadrada no protocolo celebrado entre a Santa Casa da Misericrdia de Felgueiras e a Associao de Politcnicos do Norte, cumprindo desta forma o art. 2 e 3 do Regulamento de Estgios Curriculares da Associao de Politcnicos do Norte (APNOR). A realizao do estgio, bem como a realizao deste relatrio, o produto final de meses de experincia laboral, pesquisa bibliogrfica e de reflexo, de um ano curricular. Com a realizao deste estgio e do relatrio permitiu-me concluir acerca de como elaborada a gesto hospitalar e a sua importncia no contexto empresarial. A gesto contribui com o fornecimento de informaes econmicas nos diferentes usurios como: Gestores, Governo, Sindicato, Funcionrios.
