Why Would the Deuteronomists Tell about the Sacrifice of Jephtah's Daughter?

It is commonly assumed that the story of Jephthah's vow refers to an 'old tradition' that was integrated into the Deuteronomistic History. But such a view is contrary to Dtr ideology which is absolutely hostile to any human sacrifice (2 Kgs 16.3; 17.17, 31; 21.6 etc.). A literary-critical approach to Judges 11 shows that vv. 30-31 [32] and 34-40 may be considered as post-Dtr. The author of Judg. 11.30-40 seems to know the story of the Aqedah, but he is not willing to make a happy ending. There is a tragic dimension in the story and quite an Hellenistic atmosphere (the best parallels to Judg. 11.30-40 may be fou Hellenistic nd in texts). So this text should be considered an insertion from the end of the Persian or beginning of the Hellenistic periods. The author tends to show that Jewish classics can be as tragic as Greek ones.

Reconstruction fronto-orbitaire complexe avec prothèse en PEEK et expansion cutanée : à propos d'un cas [Complex fronto-orbital reconstruction with a PEEK prosthesis and skin expansion: about a case].

INTRODUCTION: Reconstructions of the fronto-orbital area remain a challenge to the reconstructive surgeon, due to the functional and esthetic impact. OBSERVATION: The authors present a case of a complex fronto-orbital reconstruction with a PEEK (PolyEtherEtherKetone) implant, associated with a skin expansion. DISCUSSION: With a follow-up of over three years, the cosmetic result is excellent. The authors believe that this technique is reliable, fast with long-term good results.

Escala de madurez gonadal de cabrilla Paralabrax humeralis (Valenciennes, 1828)

Se realiza la validación de la escala de madurez gonadal macroscópica de la cabrilla Paralabrax humeralis. Se analizaron 197 ovarios y 188 testículos provenientes del seguimiento de la pesquería demersal y cruceros de investigación de recursos demersales en el 2005 (Enero-febrero y mayo-junio). Sobre la base del análisis histológico se asignó a cada individuo un estadio de madurez macroscópico. Se realizó la descripción de los estadios de madurez que van desde el estadio 0 (virginal) hasta el 5 (recuperación en hembras, post expulsante en machos). Se realizó una comparación con escalas anteriormente realizadas, discutiendo además los beneficios de su uso.

Evaluación poblacional de Gari solida (Gray, 1828) en bahía Independencia-Pisco, junio 2010

En junio 2010, se efectuó la evaluación poblacional de almeja Gari solida en los principales bancos naturales de bahía Independencia: El Ancla, Pan de Azúcar y La Pampa para determinar su distribución, concentración, estructura por tamaños y magnitud poblacional. Los resultados evidenciaron una disminución de la biomasa y población, respecto a agosto del 2008, en 44,9% y 56,2%, respectivamente. La densidad por unidad de muestreo fluctuó entre 1 y 47 ind.m-2, las mayores densidades medias se encontraron en Pan de Azúcar (5,06 ind.m-2), La Pampa (2,42 ind.m-2) y menor densidad en El Ancla (0,57 ind.m-2). La biomasa total se calculó en 336,96 t (± 19,9%) y la población en 8,48 millones de individuos (± 19,85%), el 22,1% de la biomasa correspondió a ejemplares con tamaño mínimo de extracción (TME ≥75 mm). Las tallas de 792 ejemplares analizados fluctuaron entre 4 y 95 mm de longitud valvar, con moda en 65 mm y media en 57,5 mm. El rendimiento promedio del pie con respecto al peso total fue de 1: 9,5.
