Os professores de química e o uso do computador em sala de aula: discussão de um processo de formação continuada

O presente artigo discute estratégias utilizadas em um processo de formação continuada que se destina a promover a inserção da informática nas aulas de Química, organizado com base na racionalidade prática e na reflexão crítica sobre o trabalho docente. Esse processo envolveu professores de escolas estaduais localizadas na região de Jaú (SP) e utilizou a educação a distância como recurso para mediar os períodos entre os encontros presenciais. As estratégias selecionadas para discussão neste artigo, dentre as utilizadas no processo de formação, são: a elaboração de material didático e o desenvolvimento de aulas nas Salas Ambiente de Informática das escolas. Tais propostas se revelaram importantes por considerarem o professor como autor dos recursos didáticos para trabalho em sala de aula, e o contexto escolar como subsídio à própria ação de formação.

Thus, the development of information proficiency can help with the execution of the job in a more efficient and responsible manner. In this paper, we present GPIMEM, a group that has been developing research in Mathematics Education related to computers and other media since 1993 to understand how mathematical knowledge can be produced with these technological resources, in face-to-face as well as online distance education. Members of the group dialogue with different fields of knowledge such as philosophy, history, psychology, anthropology, sociology, arts and technology, among others, to inform their research. The research addresses various topics relevant to Mathematics Education, including methodological and epistemological aspects of teaching and learning, of mathematical modeling and teacher education, always within a qualitative research perspective. We begin with the historical presentation of the group, revealing its dynamics and organization of work, followed by reflections on qualitative research methodology and description of research conducted over the past five years. Finally, we present a synthesis of the theories developed by the group and expectations for the future.

Impacto das tecnologias de informação e comunicação: cultura digital e mudanças sócio-culturais

The contemporaneous culture presents new con ditions of interaction with the information flows in the knowledge construction. Multidimensional codifications stimulate the brain and impress meaning to concepts initially empty. Culture is redefined as mosaic-culture, composed by a diversity of media and by immersion in the messages' sphere. In emerge nt countries like Brazil that propose to capacitate citizens for action and for interaction, the aims should imply the respect to the cultural specificities and in the real improvement of the citizens welfare. Information Science in this context must seek theorizations and practices that contribute to social improvements, capacitating and a better understanding of the challenges of Social Web. If the PISA examination demonstrates the County's frailness relating to the information, the 2011 Unicef report point to opportunities. The Universities have an essential role in the capacitating and in the creation of professional contingents, developing their own potentialities in the study, research and knowledge production for a better use of the Information and Communication Technologies. The man-machinery interfaces offer new problems to be dealt together with the literacy lags in Brazil: if information needs to be communicated to re-elaborate in knowledge, its representational supports need to be learnt as technological processes. Implementing informational ambiences studies will produce material for analyses, for the understanding and for the cultural practices importation, converting them to the contextualization of the Country's needs.

Women in the digital economy: breaking through the equality threshold

Prepared by ECLAC for the twelfth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, this document systematizes and describes various dimensions that shape the way the region's women participate in the labour market and how they access and use the different elements of the digital economy. Information and communications technologies (ICTs); provide essential support across all economic, political, cultural and social activity, as well as being a production sector in their own right. As such, they are potential allies in the drive to achieve equality by helping reduce the gender inequities which constitute not only a gender digital gap but also a social divide. Public policies on gender equality must take into account the key and interconnected dimensions of economy, well-being and technology if they are to be capable of providing an ambitious and innovative response to the challenges of today's society. The core argument in the reflection on ICTs and gender equality thus has to do with how women engage in processes of change and sustainable development in the countries, which cannot be achieved without equal participation by men and women. From this perspective, the gender digital gap offers a specific opportunity to tackle gender inequalities in the region.
