Let p be an odd prime. A family of (p - 1)-dimensional over-lattices yielding new record packings for several values of p in the interval [149... 3001] is presented. The result is obtained by modifying Craig's construction and considering conveniently chosen Z-submodules of Q(zeta), where zeta is a primitive pth root of unity. For p >= 59, it is shown that the center density of the (p - 1)-dimensional lattice in the new family is at least twice the center density of the (p - 1)-dimensional Craig lattice. The negative symmetry flows are incorporated into the Riemann-Hilbert problem for the homogeneous A(m)-hierarchy and its (gl) over cap (m + 1, C) extension.A loop group automorphism of order two is used to define a sub-hierarchy of (gl) over cap (m + 1, C) hierarchy containing only the odd symmetry flows. The positive and negative flows of the +/-1 grade coincide with equations of the multidimensional Toda model and of topological-anti-topological fusion. (C) 2002 Elsevier B.V. B.V. We introduce a CP trajectory diagram in bi-probability space as a powerful tool for a pictorial representation of the genuine CP and the matter effects in neutrino oscillations. The existence of correlated ambiguity in the B is uncovered. The principles of tuning the beam energy for a determination of CP-violating phase delta and the sign of Deltam(13)(2) given baseline distance are proposed to resolve the ambiguity and to maximize the CP-odd effect. We finally point out, quite contrary to what is usually believed, that the ambiguity may be resolved with similar to 50% chance in the super-JHF experiment despite its relatively short baseline of 300 km. The algebraic matrix hierarchy approach based on affine Lie sl(n) algebras leads to a variety of 1 + 1 soliton equations. By varying the rank of the underlying sl(n) algebra as well as its gradation in the affine setting, one encompasses the set of the soliton equations of the constrained KP hierarchy. The soliton solutions are then obtained as elements of the orbits of the dressing transformations constructed in terms of representations of the vertex operators of the affine sl(n) algebras realized in the unconventional gradations. Such soliton solutions exhibit non-trivial dependence on the KdV (odd) time flows and KP (odd and even) time Bows which distinguishes them From the conventional structure of the Darboux-Backlund-Wronskian solutions of the constrained KP hierarchy.

Conditions for CP violation in the scalar potential sector of general N-Higgs-doublet models are analyzed from a group theoretical perspective. For the simplest two-Higgs-doublet model potential, a minimum set of conditions for explicit and spontaneous CP violation is presented. The conditions can be given a clear geometrical interpretation in terms of quantities in the adjoint representation of the basis transformation group for the two doublets. Such conditions depend on CP-odd pseudoscalar invariants. When the potential is CP invariant, the explicit procedure to reach the real CP-basis and the explicit CP transformation can also be obtained. The procedure to find the real basis and the conditions for CP violation are then extended to general N-Higgs-doublet model potentials. The analysis becomes more involved and only a formal procedure to reach the real basis is found. Necessary conditions for CP invariance can still be formulated in terms of group invariants: the CP-odd generalized pseudoscalars. The problem can be completely solved for three Higgs-doublets.

We present a study of the decay B-s(0)-> J/psi phi. We obtain the CP-odd fraction in the final state at time zero R-perpendicular to = 0.16 +/- 0.10 (stat) +/- 0.02(syst), the average lifetime of the (B-s(0), (B) over bar (0)(s)) system, (tau) over bar (B-s(0)) = 1.39(-0.16)(+0.13)(stat)(-0.02)(+0.01)(syst) ps, and the relative width difference between the heavy and light mass eigen-states, Delta Gamma/(Gamma) over bar = (Gamma(L) - Gamma(H))/(Gamma) over bar = 0.24(-0.38)(+0.28)(stat)(-0.04)(+0.03)(syst). With the additional constraint from the world average of the B-s(0) lifetime measurements using semileptonic decays, we find (tau) over bar (B-s(0)) = 1.39 +/- 0.06 ps and Delta Gamma/(Gamma) over bar = 0.25(-0.15)(+0.14). For the ratio of the B-s(0) and B-0 lifetimes we obtain (tau) over bar (B-s(0))/tau(B-s(0)) = 0.91 +/- 0.09(stat) +/- 0.003(syst).

We consider a dynamical model of a superfluid Fermi gas in the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer regime trapped in a periodic optical lattice (OL) potential. The model is based on an equation for complex order parameter phi of the superfluid, which is derived from the relevant energy density and includes a self-repulsive term similar to phi(7/3). By means of the variational approximation (VA) and numerical simulations, we find families of stable one- and two-dimensional (I D and 2D) gap solitons (GSs) in this model. Chiefly, they are compact objects trapped in a single cell of the OL. Families of stable even and odd bound states of these GSs are also found in one dimension. A 3D GS family is constructed too, but solely within the framework of the VA. In the linear limit, the VA predicts an almost exact position of the left edge of the first band-gap in the OL-induced spectrum. The full VA provides an accurate description of families of I D and 2D fundamental GSs. We also demonstrate that a I D GS can be safely transported by an OL moving at a moderate velocity.
