La reconstrucción del espejo: el cuento español en la Antología de cuentistas españoles contemporáneos de Francisco García Pavón

El presente trabajo ofrece un estudio exhaustivo de la Antología de cuentistas españoles contemporáneos, de Francisco García Pavón, obra que contribuyó en su día a la difusión y consolidación del cuento en nuestro país. A través del análisis de las piezas contenidas en sus tres ediciones y de las relaciones que se establecen entre ellas, así como del estudio de la vida y la obra de cada uno de sus autores, puede observarse la evolución que ha experimentado el género en España desde los años de la primera posguerra hasta la década de los ochenta.

The Early Cretaceous San Juan Plutonic Suite, Ecuador: A magma chamber in an oceanic plateau ?

Sections through an oceanic plateau are preserved in tectonic slices in the Western Cordillera of Ecuador (South America). The San Juan section is a sequence of mafic-ultramafic cumulates. To establish that these plutonic rocks formed in an oceanic plateau setting, we have developed criteria that discriminate intrusions of oceanic plateaus from those of other tectonic settings. The mineralogy and crystallization sequence of the cumulates are similar to those of intra-plate magmas. Clinopyroxene predominates throughout, and orthopyroxene is only a minor component. Rocks of intermediate composition are absent, and hornblende is restricted to the uppermost massive gabbros within the sequence. The ultramafic cumulates are very depleted in light rare-earth elements (LREE), whereas the gabbros have flat or slightly enriched LREE patterns. The composition of the basaltic liquid in equilibrium with the peridotite, calculated using olivine compositions and REE contents of clinopyroxene, contains between 16% and 8% MgO and has a flat REE pattern. This melt is geochemically similar to other accreted oceanic plateau basalts, isotropic gabbros, and differentiated sills in western Ecuador. The Ecuadorian intrusive and extrusive rocks have a narrow range of epsilonNd(i) (+8 to +5) and have a rather large range of Pb isotopic ratios. Pb isotope systematics of the San Juan plutonic rocks and mineral separates lie along a mixing line between the depleted mantle (DMM) and the enriched-plume end members. This suggests that the Ecuadorian plutonic rocks generated from the mixing of two mantle sources, a depleted mid-oceanic ridge basalt (MORB) source and an enriched one. The latter is characterized by high (Pb-207/Pb-204)(i) ratios and could reflect a contamination by recycled either lower continental crust or oceanic pelagic sediments and (or) altered oceanic crust (enriched mantle type I, EMI). These data suggest that the San Juan sequence represents the plutonic components of an Early Cretaceous oceanic plateau, which accreted in the Late Cretaceous to the Ecuadorian margin.

Estudio para la implantación de un ERP en una empresa de bebidas

Este proyecto presenta un estudio previo para la implantación de un sistema ERP en una gran empresa de bebidas. Analizando las características generales, las ventajas y los inconvenientes de estos sistemas. Se ha realizado un estudio de requisitos funcionales sobre los procesos de negocio que el cliente decidió y posteriormente se han analizado tres sistemas ERP: SAP y Microsoft Dynamics NAV, por ser los más implantados, y una solución de software libre: Openbravo. Finalmente, después del análisis de requisitos de la empresa y de las diferentes soluciones ERP, se ha seleccionado la que mejor se adapta a los procesos de la empresa.

Aplicación con Google Maps

El principal objetivo de este proyecto es realizar un aplicativo web que utilice API’s para que, a partir de un conjunto de rutas almacenadas en el sistema, éste sea capaz de generar nuevas rutas a partir de éstas, de modo que dicho sistema no se comporte como un mero "almacén" de rutas introducidas por los usuarios para poder ser utilizadas por los demás posteriormente, sino que podamos ser nosotros mismos los que decidamos ciertos aspectos de la ruta que deseamos que el sistema nos proporcione. Así, el aplicativo desarrollado, partiendo de un conjunto previo de rutas, será capaz de generar nuevas rutas pasando lo más cerca posible de un conjunto de puntos definidos por el usuario, pudiendo ser calculadas siguiendo diferentes parámetros de optimización tales como el menor número de rutas utilizadas en el cálculo o el menor número de intersecciones entre ellas. Estas rutas, posteriormente, pueden visualizarse en la aplicación mediante el API de Google Maps, o pueden ser descargadas para utilizarlas en nuestro dispositivo GPS portátil.

La formación de un humanista. Juan Ramón Masoliver (1910-1936)

Juan Ramón Masoliver perteneció a una generación privilegiada en cuanto a su formación. Promovió la revista Hèlix, altavoz del surrealismo en Catalunya, y estuvo en contacto con el núcleo surrealista francés. Conoció a James Joyce y Ezra Pound, dos intelectuales claves para su formación y su desarrollo cultural posterior. También en esta época entró en contacto con corrientes de pensamiento cercanas al fascismo. Con todas sus experiencias construyó un excéntrico personaje que, en su madurez, contaría con la simpatía de numerosos intelectuales.

Urban ecology of Triatoma infestans in San Juan, Argentina

This study was performed in an urban neighborhood of the capital city of the province of San Juan, Argentina. Erected as a housing complex, the place consists of 768 flats distributed in buildings of three and seven floors each. A survey was carried out in 33% of the dwellings, enquiring about the number of Triatoma infestans found indoors, stage of the bug development - nymph or adult - and how these insects had entered their homes. Adult T.infestans were found on all floors; 163 people (64%) had found them at least once, and 130 (51%) several times. Dispersal flight seems to have been the main mechanism of infestation by adult bugs in this area, and a total of 51% of the surveyed inhabitants reported that the insects had flown into their flats.

Accounting conservatism and firm investment efficiency

Conservatism, through the timelier recognition of losses in the income statement, is expected to increase firm investment efficiency through three main channels: (1) by decreasing the adverse effect of information asymmetries between outside equity holders and managers, facilitating the monitoring of managerial investment decisions; (2) by increasing managerial incentives to abandon poorly performing projects earlier and to undertake fewer negative net present-value investments; and (3) by facilitating the access to external financing at lower cost. Using a large US sample for the period 1990-2007 we find a negative association between conservatism and measures of over- and under- investment, and a positive association between conservatism and future profitability. This is consistent with firms reporting more conservative numbers investing more efficiently and in more profitable projects. Our results add to a growing stream of literature suggesting that eliminating conservatism from accounting regulatory frameworks may lead to undesirable economic consequences.

The Complementarity between segment disclosure and earnings quality, and its effect on cost of capital

We investigate the role of earnings quality in determining the levels of segment disclosure, and whether and how better quality earnings and segment disclosure influences cost of capital. Using a large US sample for the period 2001-2006, we find a positive relation between earnings quality and levels of segment disclosures. We also find that firms providing better quality segment information, contingent upon good earnings quality, enjoy lower cost of capital. We base our empirical tests on a self created index of segment disclosure. Our results contribute to a better understanding of (1) the incentives for providing segment disclosures, and (2) how accounting quality (quality of segment information and earnings quality) is related to the cost of capital.

Evaluation of subsidies programs to sell green cars: Impact on prices, quantities and efficiency

During the recent period of economic crisis, many countries have introduced scrappage schemes to boost the sale and production of vehicles, particularly of vehicles designed to pollute less. In this paper, we analyze the impact of a particular scheme in Spain (Plan2000E) on vehicle prices and sales figures as well as on the reduction of polluting emissions from vehicles on the road. We considered the introduction of this scheme an exogenous policy change and because we could distinguish a control group (non-subsidized vehicles) and a treatment group (subsidized vehicles), before and after the introduction of the Plan, we were able to carry out our analysis as a quasi-natural experiment. Our study reveals that manufacturers increased vehicle prices by the same amount they were granted through the Plan (1,000 €). In terms of sales, econometric estimations revealed an increase of almost 5% as a result of the implementation of the Plan. With regard to environmental efficiency, we compared the costs (inverted quantity of money) and the benefits of the program (reductions in polluting emissions and additional fiscal revenues) and found that the Plan would only be beneficial if it boosted demand by at least 30%.

Las complicaciones biliares en el trasplante hepático de donante vivo no afectan a los resultados a largo plazo

El transplantament hepàtic de donant viu comporta un alt índex de complicacions biliars. El nostre objectiu és avaluar-les, així com els resultats a llarg termini. Es van analitzar 70 casos retrospectivament. 39 de 70 pacients van presentar algun tipus de complicació biliar. Entre ells, 29 van presentar una fuga, 10 una estenosi i 14 ambdues. La probabilitat de presentar una estenosi fou major en els pacients amb fuga biliar prèvia (58% vs. 29,5% als 5 anys p=0,05). Un 70,8% es solucionaren mitjançant radiología intervencionista. No hi van haver diferències de supervivencia amb o sense complicacions de la via biliar.

Eficacia diagnóstica de la técnica del ganglio centinela en carcinomas faringolaríngeos

En l'actualitat hi ha controvèrsia sobre el tractament del coll negatiu en el carcinoma faringolaríngeo. En el nostre estudi hem inclòs 11 pacients afectats de carcinoma escamós faringolaríngeo N0, i després de realitzar una injecció amb Tc99m-nanocoloide hem identificat els possibles ganglis sentinella mitjançant limfogammagrafia, SPECT-CT i sonda gamma. S'han detectat de mitjana 2,0 possibles ganglis sentinella. En tres casos no s'ha detectat gangli sentinella. En un futur la realització d'aquesta tècnica, que està en fase de desenvolupament, pot evitar el sobretractament cervical.

Eficacia del implante Ex-press en el tratamiento del glaucoma crónico de ángulo abierto

Estudi observacional i prospectiu que analitza la eficàcia de l’Ex-press mini glaucoma shunt en 20 ulls que presenten un control deficient de la PIO amb el tractament mèdic i es practica cirurgia. El període de seguiment és d’un any i s’analitza el descens de la PIO a la setmana, al mes, als 6 mesos i a l’any en relació amb la PIO prèvia. Al mateix temps analitzarem la necessitat d’utilitzar tractament mèdic posterior a la intervenció quirúrgica i les complicacions derivades de la utilització de l’implant.

Tumores parotídeos: revisión de la distribución demográfica y de la correlación cito-histológica de los pacientes intervenidos por el servicio de Cirugía Maxilofacial del Hospital Universitario Vall d’Hebron

Els tumors parotidis constitueixen un motiu de consulta freqüent en el medi hospitalari. Per conèixer l’origen cel•lular dels mateixos disposem de l’anàlisi citològic pre-quirúrgic. No existeix una correlació exacta entre la citologia pre-quirúrgica i l’anatomia patològica definitiva segons la literatura. S’ha realitzat un estudi retrospectiu de sèries de casos dels pacients atesos per tumors parotidis al servei de Cirurgia Maxil•lofacial de l’Hospital Vall d’Hebron en el qual s’ha avaluat la distribució demogràfica d’aquests tumors i la correlació cito-histològica comparant-la amb altres sèries.
