Antyk w prozie J. R. R. Tolkiena

Tolkien’s oeuvre and its problematic relationships with classical tradition serve in my paper as an illustration of the diverse approaches, methods, and styles of lecture concerning the nature of literary allusivity. As a point of departure in the paper has been taken the reflection on the common phrase about “antiquity in something” deployed broadly in the reception studies. T he questions raised here are as follows: what does precisely “in” mean in that metaphor? O r, to put it in more general terms, when an allusion to another text can be treated as an inherent part of interpretation? Answer to these questions was possible due to U mberto E co’s statements in the well-known dispute relating to the interpretation and overinterpretation; in conclusion I was trying to show that his criterion of textual economy in interpretation justifies somehow (as I believe) the new look on the essential T olkien’s symbol, i.e. the ring of power, as a symbol of the R oman imperial rule. This means (in the context of the translatio imperii and cultural change from pagan to Christian empire) that The Lord of the Rings can be seen in a way as a novelistic version of Augustine’s The City of God.

W poszukiwaniu czasowników nieznanych lingwist(k)om

Abstract. The paper presents a list of 437 verbs which have not been recorded in lexicography. As the source of reference, the author consulted a spelling dictionary of the Polish language, Wielki słownik ortograficzny PWN, 2nd edition, 2006. The concept of this paper originated from the wish to satisfy the curiosity after reading Indeks neologizmów [Index of Neologisms] prepared by Krystyna Waszakowa in her work Przejawy internacjonalizacji w słowotwórstwie współczesnej polszczyzny [Word-formative internationalisation processes in modern Polish]. The index contains a list of nouns. Given that K. Waszakowa did not take verbs into account (there are far (?) fewer neo-verbs than neo-nouns), the author decided to find out whether it is true that the number of verb neologisms is so small that their philological analysis is pointless from the point of view of research, vocabulary registration, etc. If nouns, such as podczłowiek, miniokupacja, redefinicja, are of interest, why not record the prefixal constructions of the do-, z-, od-, na-, w-, wy-, za-, od-, nad- etc. -robić type? The analysis included randomly selected texts from the „Rzeczpospolita” daily (without any thorough preparation with respect to the content; the texts available were sequentially analysed until the satisfactory result was obtained). The texts under review included an incomplete (it is virtually impossible to determine completeness in this case) electronic archive from the years 1993–2006.

Analogia w dydaktyce języka chińskiego

W artykule zajmuję się problematyką dydaktyki wybranych konstrukcji języka chińskiego. Moim celem jest pokazanie na przykładach, w jaki sposób, wykorzystując zarówno różnice semantyczne między zdaniami strukturalnie podobnymi, jak i analogie semantyczne między zdaniami składniowo różnymi, ułatwić i przyspieszyć nauczanie problematycznych w tym względzie zagadnień gramatyki chińskiej. Do egzemplifikacji wykorzystania mechanizmów różnic i analogii w dydaktyce wykorzystałem zdania z partykułą le i skopiowanym czasownikiem, konstrukcję z de i dopełnieniem komplementywnym oraz partykułę końcową le.

Stolzman w Belwederze? Instrumentalizacja antysemityzmu w kampaniach prezydenckich w Polsce po roku 1989

Antysemicki dyskurs wcale nie potrzebuje obecności Żydów jako racji swojego bytu i legitymizacji istnienia. Zwalcza Żydów wyimaginowanych i symbolicznych. Żydów z nadania, a zwłaszcza wszystko to, przeciwko czemu występuje i na różne sposoby stara się z Żydami skojarzyć. Praktyka taka niejednokrotnie dała o sobie znać w toku prezydenckich kampanii wyborczych w Polsce po roku 1989. Efektów płynących z instrumentalizacji antysemityzmu, choć samo zjawisko jest godne wyłącznie pogardy, nie należy jednak przeceniać i nadawać mu nadmiernego znaczenia przy interpretacji decyzji powziętych przez wyborców. Gdyby w istocie miał on stanowić instrument o przemożnym oddziaływaniu, to ironizując Aleksander Kwaśniewski nie zostałby dwukrotnie prezydentem Polski.

Małżeństwa wiejskie w Polsce lat osiemdziesiątych. Szkic historyczny

In the article I present the structure of rural marriage in Poland of the 80-ies. I analyse basic factors of marriage mating, especially the reasons for getting married. Among the most important reasons are: love, material reasons, friendship, prestige, social position, sex. The article includes also the results of the research on marriage durability (stability), and also on factors influencing the marriage success or failure.

The paper deals with the reception of Aristotle’s definition of rhetoric (Rhet. I 1355b26–27) in several Byzantine commentators of Hermogenes’ and Aphthonius’ treatises. A justification of critical interpretation of this definition is to be found in the commentaries of Troilus and Athanasius (4th/5th century) as well as Sopatros (6th century) and Doxapatres (11th century), Maximus Planudes (13th/14th century) and several anonymous commentators. The Byzantine tradition has found Aristotle’s definition of rhetoric to be all too theoretical and insufficiently connected to practical activity, which Byzantium identified with political life.

The article presents an analysis of letters found in Plautus' comedies. Dividing the correspondence into that which is read and that which is not read on the stage and into the authentic and falsifed, presents its structures, studies its coherence and defnes dependencies between the type of a letter and the role it plays in the comedy.

Motyw rozpoznania a sposób prezentacji postaci kobiecych w palliacie

The article shows how the recognition infuences on the way that female characters are presented in palliata. This motif is very common in Plautus’ and Terence’s comedies. It can be said that anagnorismos enables the introduction of women on the stage and is not at variance with antique customs and decorum.

Problem ubóstwa w Unii Europejskiej

The issues of poverty, famine and malnutrition mainly concern underdeveloped regions. Yet in recent years the proportion of the population threatened with poverty and social exclu- sion has been growing not only in these regions but also in developed areas, including the EU. The issue of poverty is additionally related to demography. In this context, the aging popula- tion of West European countries is worrisome, as the elderly are one of the groups particularly threatened by poverty, and their number continues to grow. Appreciating the gravity of this is- sue, the European Commission considers the fight against poverty to be one of the basic five directions established in the Europe 2020 strategic document.

Autoryzacja w praktyce nowych mediów w dobie kryzysu systemu prawa prasowego

Assuming that a crisis infers the collapse of old values while the new ones to replace them have not developed yet, one can ponder whether we are witnessing a crisis of press law in Po- land or not. Taking into consideration the gravity and scope of criticism of the current press law act and the repeated attempts to alter the existing legal status quo, it could be said that we are facing a permanent crisis in the press law system in Poland, and, consequently, of the whole media policy. The paper tries to verify this hypothesis on the example of one of the ele- ments of the press law, namely that of authorization.

Masturbacja w świetle katolickiego spojrzenia na ludzką płciowość

Masturbacja jako zagadnienie naukowe nadal budzi kontrowersje. Autor niniejszego artykułu prezentuje ten temat w szerokim kontekście współczesnej psychologii, pedagogiki i innych dyscyplin wiedzy zajmujących się ludzką egzystencją. Moralny wymiar masturbacji musi być rozpatrywany świetle problematyki ludzkiego bycia, ponieważ tylko w takiej perspektywie można stworzyć uzasadnioną opinię o tej delikatnej kwestii.

„Wyłanianie” się podmiotu w autopojetycznie pojmowanej szkole

Istotą artykułu jest dookreślenia podmiotowości w systemie autopojetycznym, jakim może być szkoła. Na początku postaramy się dookreślić znaczenie rozumienia podmiotu i podmiotowości. Przy czym, poszukując ich źródłowych odniesień odwołamy się do myśli Arystotelesa i Kartezjusza, by następnie poddać je krytyce jako niespełnionych oczekiwań nowożytnej i współczesnej cywilizacji. Jednak, powołując się dalej na poglądy M. Heideggera w tym temacie, okazuje się, że podmiot może być traktowany zgoła inaczej niż opisuje to literatura przedmiotu. Przybliżając zatem inne ujęcie podmiotu, postaramy się wykazać, że wyłania się on na styku jego związku z osobowością, co sugeruje, że to właśnie kształcenie i kształtowanie powinno być traktowane jako najważniejsza dziedzina ludzkiej wiedzy. Dopełnienie tej tezy będzie zatem wymagało wyjaśnienia takich pojęć, jak: osobowość i praktyka edukacyjna. I skoro zatem praktyka edukacyjna jest tak istotna i dla kształtowania osobowości, i wyłaniania się podmiotu, to w dalszej części naszej wypowiedzi położymy nacisk na zinstytucjonalizowaną formę praktyki edukacyjnej czyli nauczanie klasowo-lekcyjne, traktowane jako układ autopojetyczny. Wyjaśnienie znaczenia tego układu będzie stanowić kolejną fazę toczonych tutaj rozważań, a ich celem będzie obrona poglądu, że to, co zostanie „wniesione” do klas szkolnych w postaci zasobów i reguł na początku każdego roku szkolnego, będzie się przekładać na kształtowanie i kształcenie osobowości, i tym samym na możliwości samodoświadczania „Się” podmiotowości. Ponieważ pogląd ten może budzić pewne zastrzeżenia, toteż powołamy się na pewne rozważania dotyczące istnienia tzw. podmiotu rekonstruującego, a więc takiego, który wpisany jest w sens istnienia np. projekcji filmowej, spektaklu teatralnego, czytanej książki.
