WATER-SOLUBLE AND AMPHIPHILIC POLYMERS .11. GRAFT-POLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLIC-ACID ON POLY(VINYL ALCOHOL)

The graft polymerization of acrylic acid(AA) on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVAL) has been investigated by using either potassium persulfate (KPS) or ceric ammonium nitrate(CAN) as an initiator. In the case of KPS initiation, the formation of the graft polymer always lags behind the homopolymer formation. The graft polymer is separated by acetone, and the increase of reaction temperature favors the homopolymer formation at the early stage. In the case of CAN initiation, graft polymers with a high PAA content can hardly be obtained when the polymerization is performed under nitrogen and at < 0.06 mol/L HNO3 concentration. It has been found that incorporation of a small amount of oxygen in a protective nitrogen gas accelerates markedly the graft polymerization, and that the resulting graft polymers can not be separated by acetone precipitation technique in most cases. The Dalian nitrogen(containing 0.7% oxygen) is a good protective gas for CAN-initiated PVAL-AA graft polymerization.

青海德尔尼铜钴锌矿床地质构造背景与成因

The Derni large Cu-Co-Zn sulfide deposit is occurred in the Derni melange belt, which is located in the eastern section of the A'nyemaqen ophiolite melange belt. The Derni deposit is hosted in the mantle peridotites and is very special in the world. Because the studying area is of very bad natural environment and very low geological research, the geotectonic setting and genesis of the deposit have long been debated. This paper studied these two questions and answered them. The research is of great significance to reveal impotant information of deep geology, crust-mantle interaction and geotectonic evolution, to enrich theories in the study of mineral deposit and provide scientific basic data for exploration and exploit of this kind of deposit. Based on the series of new achievements and new cognitions, to start with the geologic setting of the Derni deposit, through detailed field, tectonics, petrology, geochemistry, isotopic geochronology, microfossil, and study of mineral deposit, belongs to a melange belt, including mantle peridotites slice with ore, Late Precambrian sandstone and slate slice, metamorphic rock slice. 2. Petrological and geochemical characteristics indicate that the Derni mantle peridotite is not ophiolite mantle peridotite, but is occurred under the continental crust. 3. The U-Pb isotopic age of single-grain zircon form the accumulative rock suggests that the Derni mantle peridotite were formed in 747±10Ma, and underwent a great period of metamorphic process in 441.5±2.5Ma. 4. Microfossil assemblage from the carbonaceous slate belongs to Late Precambrian. Through petrography and petrochemistry, sandstone and slate were formed in the continental margin. 5. Sideronitic texture, which is first discovered in this study, reveals the characteristics of magmatic liquation. 6. Fluid inclusion explosion temperature of pyrite is in the range of -6.15～+6.64‰, and Pb isotope is consistent with mantle peridotite, which suggest ore-forming materials are from the mantle. To sum up, the upper mantle was melting partially, when it was metasomated by the mantle fluids with abundant Cu, Co, Zn, S, Au and LREE etc. The pockets of magma became enlarged by mantle tenacity shearing, and the pockets of magma occurred magmatic differentiation in the stable field, then the magma and ore pulp together with mantle refractory remnant dirpired and crystallized in the shallow part of the crust.

企业效率表现和中国环境政策-以造纸企业为例

Understanding relationship between environmental protection and economic development is crucial to form practical environmental policy. At micro level, implementation of environmental regulations often causes production mills adjustment of technology which might leads to change of productive efficiency and cost, which, in turn, determine effort level of mills and even local government in pollution control. Using a stochastic frontier production model and a set of survey data on 126 paper mills from six provinces of China, we measure the technical efficiency changes and analyze the determinants of efficiency. in particular, we examine impact of environmental policy on paper mills' efficiency, using an indicator of environmental policy-the levy ratio of COD. We also estimate a simultaneous-equation model in which the levy rate and emission are jointly determined. The results indicate that there have been efficiency improvements during 1999-2003, when enforcement of environmental regulations have been tightened. The impacts, nevertheless, are different for different types of mills. We also find the levy ratio, which is influenced by both the local social and economic conditions and the characters of paper mills, such as scale, has strong impact on the abatement of the pollutant-COD. Additionally, paper mills' technical efficiency has positive effect on the reduction of the emission intensity of the pollutant-COD. These results lead a set of implications pertinent to policy improvement.

Japonesinha: nova opção de mandioca de mesa para o Distrito Federal.

ABSTRACT: The cassava market within Distrito Federal (DF) presents potencial for expansion, for that reason, it is fundamental that the propagative material for planting (stem cuttings) presents genetic traits that confer high productivity to the crop, resistance against the main diseases and plagues and culinary qualities that fulfill the demands of the consumer market. In order to select varieties which combine the before mentioned interesting caracteristics for the producers and consumers of DF, we carried out experiments to evaluate table cassava type varieties at Núcleo Rural Jardim, DF (year 1999/2000), at an experimental area of Embrapa Cerrados located in the Municipy of Planaltina, DF (year 1999/2000), at Núcleo Rural Ponte Alta, DF (year 2002/2003) and at Brazlândia, DF (year 2003/2004). Among the evaluated varieties, if the parameters productivity, time necessary for cooking and colour of the pulp (which, in the case of DF, must be cream-colour or yellow due to market demands) are collectively considered, the variety Japonesinha / IAC 576-70 / BGMC 753 stands out as it combines high productivity of roots, moderate resistance to bacterial blight, good culinary quality (time necessary for cooking inferior to thirty minutes) and pulp of cream colour. Conclusively, this variety can be recommended to be cultivated at DF.

The prediction of fire propagation in enclosure fires

In this paper we present some early work concerned with the development of a simple solid fuel combustion model incorporated within a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) framework. The model is intended for use in engineering applications of fire field modelling and represents an extension of this technique to situations involving the combustion of solid cellulosic hels A simple solid &el combustion model consisting of a thermal pyrolysis model, a six flux radiation model and an eddydissipation model for gaseous combustion have been developed and implemented within the CFD code CFDS-FLOW3D The model is briefly described and demonstrated through two applications involving fire spread in a compartment with a plywood lined ceiling. The two scenarios considered involve a fire in an open and closed compartment The model is shown to be able to qualitatively predict behaviours similar to flashover - in the case of the open room - and backdrafl - in the case of the initially closed room.

Acoustic emission testing of paper

Using Acoustic Emission Testing (AET) to determine the onset of paper damage will be demonstrated on tensile coupons made from mechanical pulp. This technique is part of an EU funded project named the Fifth Frame Program. Its aim is to develop methods for determining specific damage mechanisms through AET. Various such techniques of damage detection will be demonstrated in the coming work.

Cine policíaco del tardofranquismo: El thriller en el “Período Oscuro” del cine español (1969-1975)

Definición de la etapa de crisis del aparato cinematográfico franquista, llamada aquí “Período Oscuro” (1969-1975), discusión de la etiqueta de subgéneros aplicada al cinema bis de la época, y caracterización histórica del thriller español y de sus corrientes estéticas y conceptuales internas en dicho período. La acotación del período 1969-1975 es clarificada previamente ante el vacío historiográfico al respecto. Se caracteriza la crisis que tiene lugar en el “Período Oscuro”, desde su comienzo oficial en 1969, que supuso el definitivo cierre de las políticas proteccionistas emprendidas por el Director General de Cinematografía García Escudero en 1962. Después se define y discute la etiqueta de subgéneros aplicada tradicionalmente al cine español de género de bajo presupuesto. Luego, se especifican, definen y analizan las diversas categorías dentro del thriller español de 1969-1975: se trata de categorías temáticas y argumentales, estéticas, o bien relacionadas con corrientes internacionales del policíaco europeo. Por último, se extraen las conclusiones pertinentes.
