As requested in Illinois House Resolution 413, the Illinois Dept. of Human Services submitted this report on the agency's efforts to assist homeless people who have serious mental illness and developmental disabilities. While the Department did not recommend the creation of seperate Advocacy Program for this population, this report contains the agency's plans for services to homeless persons with mental and developmental disabilities.

In addition to the development and implementation of an Illinois Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan, the alliance was charged with reviewing the statutorily prescribed missions, policies and procedures of the Illinois departments of Public Health, Human Services and Aging and the State Board of Education. This report is a compilation of that review and includes recommendations to incorporate suicide prevention in the missions, policies and procedures of these state agencies.

A report by the Illinois Dept. of Public Health to the Illinois General Assembly about the development and implementation of a program prepared in response to Public Act 91-0515 which calls for the IDPH to create an asthma information program whose actions will be coordinated with those of state and community-based agencies involved with asthma and that would subsequently form the Illinois Asthma Task Force and target population groups in Illinois that are at high risk for asthma.

The Illinois Department of Human Services' (DHS) Homeless Prevention Program works to stabilize individuals and families in their existing homes, shorten the amount of time that individuals and families stay in shelters and assist individuals and families with securing affordable housing. The program provides rental assistance, utility assistance and supportive services directly related to the prevention of homelessness or repeated episodes of homelessness.
