Avaluació de 4 experiències d’e‐learning: formació continuada virtual en el camp de la farmacologia clínica.

Introducció: Les noves tecnologies han donat peu a la creació de propostes docents que es desenvolupen a través d’internet . Objectius: Avaluar quatre cursos de formació virtual realitzats a la Fundació Institut Català de Farmacologia per analitzat-ne l’activitat i la qualitat. Metodologia: S’ha mesurat el registre de participació dels alumnes mitjançant l’accés als materials i activitats proposades, i la qualitat de la formació mitjançant una enquesta de satisfacció. Resultats: La proporció de realització d’activitats ha estat notable i la qualitat dels cursos ben valorada. Conclusió: La bona valoració rebuda mostra la qualitat dels cursos realitzats i avala les nostres propostes pedagògiques.

Efficacy of prescribed injectable diacetylmorphine in the Andalusian trial: Bayesian analysis of responders and non-responders according to a multi domain outcome index.

BACKGROUND The objective of this research was to evaluate data from a randomized clinical trial that tested injectable diacetylmorphine (DAM) and oral methadone (MMT) for substitution treatment, using a multi-domain dichotomous index, with a Bayesian approach. METHODS Sixty two long-term, socially-excluded heroin injectors, not benefiting from available treatments were randomized to receive either DAM or MMT for 9 months in Granada, Spain. Completers were 44 and data at the end of the study period was obtained for 50. Participants were determined to be responders or non responders using a multi-domain outcome index accounting for their physical and mental health and psychosocial integration, used in a previous trial. Data was analyzed with Bayesian methods, using information from a similar study conducted in The Netherlands to select a priori distributions. On adding the data from the present study to update the a priori information, the distribution of the difference in response rates were obtained and used to build credibility intervals and relevant probability computations. RESULTS In the experimental group (n = 27), the rate of responders to treatment was 70.4% (95% CI 53.287.6), and in the control group (n = 23), it was 34.8% (95% CI 15.354.3). The probability of success in the experimental group using the a posteriori distributions was higher after a proper sensitivity analysis. Almost the whole distribution of the rates difference (the one for diacetylmorphine minus methadone) was located to the right of the zero, indicating the superiority of the experimental treatment. CONCLUSION The present analysis suggests a clinical superiority of injectable diacetylmorphine compared to oral methadone in the treatment of severely affected heroin injectors not benefiting sufficiently from the available treatments. Determinants for membrane association of the hepatitis C virus NS2 protease domain.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural protein 2 (NS2) is required for HCV polyprotein processing and particle assembly. It comprises an N-terminal membrane domain and a C-terminal, cytosolically oriented protease domain. Here, we demonstrate that the NS2 protease domain itself associates with cellular membranes. A single charged residue in the second α-helix of the NS2 protease domain is required for proper membrane association, NS2 protein stability, and efficient HCV polyprotein processing.

A distributed environment for virtual and/or real experiments for underwater robots

This paper presents the distributed environment for virtual and/or real experiments for underwater robots (DEVRE). This environment is composed of a set of processes running on a local area network composed of three sites: 1) the onboard AUV computer; 2) a surface computer used as human-machine interface (HMI); and 3) a computer used for simulating the vehicle dynamics and representing the virtual world. The HMI can be transparently linked to the real sensors and actuators dealing with a real mission. It can also be linked with virtual sensors and virtual actuators, dealing with a virtual mission. The aim of DEVRE is to assist engineers during the software development and testing in the lab prior to real experiments

Research librarians in a virtual environment : new skills, new services

This paper highlights both the new functions taken on by UOC research librarians and the new skills that this professional profile requires, based on the experience of the UOC Virtual Library. By setting up a series of bibliometric units, the Library has been able to integrate itself into the University through bibliometric studies and other research support services. A group of research librarians provides support to researchers from the start of the research process to the assessment of their scientific output. They also provide support for the University's strategic decision-making through the analysis of bibliometric data.

Do "beija e deixa" ao "membro virtual": os vários usos do sagrado na Feira do Jubileu de Congonhas

O objetivo neste artigo é apresentar uma investigação das inter-relações entre as práticas religiosas, econômicas e políticas cunhadas pela Igreja Católica na ocasião da Festa do Jubileu do Bom Jesus, na cidade mineira de Congonhas do Campo. Pretende-se compreender melhor como ocorrem manipulações simbólicas entre o sagrado e o profano no interior das organizações. Assim, a partir de um estudo no contexto da Igreja Católica, visou-se trazer novos insights ao campo dos estudos organizacionais que tratam da esfera simbólica de forma geral. Optou-se por um estudo de caso qualitativo, de cunho exploratório-descritivo usando entrevistas e observações registradas em diário de campo. As entrevistas foram feitas com moradores da cidade, comerciantes e com o padre responsável pela paróquia. Para interpretação dos dados, utilizou-se a análise do discurso, situando o discurso como manifestação objetiva de um arcabouço histórico e ideológico. Nos resultados, aponta-se para uma dualidade entre sagrado e profano, emergindo a flexibilização de concepções religiosas dominantes para absorver práticas econômicas que financiem o capital religioso da referida igreja.

És objectiu d'aquest projecte dotar la comunitat UOC d'una aplicació per a dispositius Android que proporcioni als usuaris de la comunitat UOC un eina, àgil, còmode i intuïtiva d'accés al Campus Virtual i als recursos formatius que conté.
