O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial de um sensor óptico ativo terrestre como auxiliar na recomendação da aplicação de nitrogênio em taxa variável, na cultura da cana-de-açúcar. Foram instalados experimentos em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com uso de diferentes doses de N (0, 50, 100, 150 e 200 kg ha-1). A resposta da cana-de-açúcar ao N foi avaliada por diferentes métodos - sensor óptico, clorofilômetro e teor foliar de N -, quando a altura média dos colmos atingiu 0,2, 0,4 e 0,6 m. Observou-se baixa correlação entre o teor foliar de N e a quantidade de clorofila nas folhas mensuradas por clorofilômetro. Portanto, essas características foram insuficientes para avaliar a eficiência do sensor óptico, uma vez que os valores mensurados se elevaram conforme o aumento da dose de N. A estratégia de recomendação com base na resposta da cultura, estimada pelo sensor óptico em faixa de cana-de-açúcar que recebeu a dose adequada de N, mostrou-se mais condizente com a produtividade obtida. O sensor óptico é ferramenta útil para auxiliar na recomendação de N para a cultura da cana-de-açúcar, ao se considerar a variabilidade espacial da sua demanda.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial das imagens multipolarizadas do sensor‑radar Palsar/Alos em diferenciar as fases fenológicas da cana‑de‑açúcar. Valores digitais de quatro imagens do sensor, dos meses de fevereiro, maio, agosto e outubro de 2008, com polarizações HH (emissão e recebimento de onda na polarização horizontal) e HV (emissão de onda na polarização horizontal e recebimento na vertical), foram convertidos para coeficientes de retroespalhamento (σ°), para a análise de dados de cana‑de‑açúcar, cultivadas em talhões na região nordeste do Estado de São Paulo. Foram selecionadas três variedades, em diferentes estágios fenológicos: RB85‑5156, seis talhões; RB86‑7515, dez talhões; e RB92‑5345, dez talhões. As diferenças entre as fases fenológicas foram avaliadas para cada uma das variedades e, também, entre as variedades. A utilização simultânea ou não dos dados do sensor Palsar/Alos, obtidos em duas polarizações, foi capaz de discriminar as diferentes fases de crescimento da cana‑de‑açúcar, com exceção da fase de crescimento dos colmos e a fase de maturação, em que não foi observada diferença significativa.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o mapeamento de área de cana‑de‑açúcar por meio de série temporal, de seis anos de dados do índice de vegetação por diferença normalizada (NDVI), oriundos do sensor Vegetation, a bordo do satélite "système pour l'observation de la Terre" (SPOT). Três classes de cobertura do solo (cana‑de‑açúcar, pasto e floresta), do Estado de São Paulo, foram selecionadas como assinaturas espectro‑temporais de referência, que serviram como membros extremos ("endmembers") para classificação com o algoritmo "spectral angle mapper" (SAM). A partir desta classificação, o mapeamento da área de cana‑de‑açúcar foi realizado com uso de limiares na imagem-regra do SAM, gerados a partir dos valores dos espectros de referência. Os resultados mostram que o algoritmo SAM pode ser aplicado a séries de dados multitemporais de resolução moderada, o que permite eficiente mapeamento de alvo agrícola em escala mesorregional. Dados oficiais de áreas de cana‑de‑açúcar, para as microrregiões paulistas, apresentam boa correlação (r² = 0,8) com os dados obtidos pelo método avaliado. A aplicação do algoritmo SAM mostrou ser útil em análises temporais. As séries temporais de NDVI do sensor SPOT Vegetation podem ser utilizadas para mapeamento da área de cana‑de‑açúcar em baixa resolução.

The design of an efficient collaborative multirobot framework that ensures the autonomy and the individualrequirements of the involved robots is a very challenging task. This requires designing an efficient platform for inter-robot communication. P2P is a good approach to achieve this goal. P2P aims at making the communication ubiquitous thereby crossing the communication boundary and has many attractive features to use it as a platform for collaborative multi-robot environments. In this work, we present the JXTA Overlay P2P system and its application for robot control. Since JXTAOverlay is able to overcome Firewalls, Routers and NATs, it is possible to control end-devices in a WAN without changing the network security policy. We used JXTA-Overlay for the control of robot motors. We evaluated the proposed system by many experiments and have shown that the proposed system has a good performance and can be used successfully for the control of robot.

OBJECTIVE: Home blood pressure (BP) monitoring is recommended by several clinical guidelines and has been shown to be feasible in elderly persons. Wrist manometers have recently been proposed for such home BP measurement, but their accuracy has not been previously assessed in elderly patients. METHODS: Forty-eight participants (33 women and 15 men, mean age 81.3±8.0 years) had their BP measured with a wrist device with position sensor and an arm device in random order in a sitting position. RESULTS: Average BP measurements were consistently lower with the wrist than arm device for systolic BP (120.1±2.2 vs. 130.5±2.2 mmHg, P<0.001, means±SD) and diastolic BP (66.0±1.3 vs. 69.7±1.3 mmHg, P<0.001). Moreover, a 10 mmHg or greater difference between the arm and wrist device was observed in 54.2 and 18.8% of systolic and diastolic measures, respectively. CONCLUSION: Compared with the arm device, the wrist device with position sensor systematically underestimated systolic as well as diastolic BP. The magnitude of the difference is clinically significant and questions the use of the wrist device to monitor BP in elderly persons. This study points to the need to validate BP measuring devices in all age groups, including in elderly persons.

Perushyväksymistestaus on oleellinen osa S60 alustan julkaisukandidaatin maturiteetin seurannassa. Perushyväksymistestausta tehdään myös ohjelmiston julkistamiskelpoisuuden varmistamiseksi. Testaustulokset halutaan aina mahdollisimman nopeasti. Lisäksi testaustiimin työmäärä on hiljalleen kasvanut, koska projekteja onenemmän ja korjauksia sisältäviä ja räätälöityjä settejä testataan enemmän. Tässä diplomityössä tutkitaan lyhentäisikö testisetin osan automatisointi testien ajoaikaa ja helpottaisiko se testaajien työtaakkaa. Tarkastelu toteutetaan automatisoimalla osa testisetistä ja kokemuksia esitellään tässä lopputyössä.

Verkkoon kytkettävien laitteiden määrä on lisääntynyt viime vuosina, joka luo tarpeen reitittimille ja niiden ominaisuuksille. On muodostunut uusi tarve laitteille, jotka voivat yhdistää erilaisia verkkoja toisiinsa. Tällaisen reitittimen rakentamiseen tarvitaan vakaa alusta. Tällaisella alustalla luodaan mahdollisuus kuormittaa järjestelmää ilman suuria ongelmia. Tällainen alusta on Open Platform, joka on suunniteltu tällaisille toiminnoille ja yhdessä oikeanlaisen verkkoratkaisun kanssa sitä voidaan käyttää sille suunnitellussa ympäristössä. Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on arvioida neljää eri reititysohjelmistoa ja kahta eri IP pinoa. Työssä käytetyt testit on suunniteltu arviointia varten ja niiden tarkoituksena on tuoda esille ohjelmistoissa esiintyvät viat ja ongelmat. Kaikki testit ovat samoja kaikille ohjelmille ja tehdään samassa ympäristössä. Testit analysoidaan niiden ajon jälkeen ja niiden tulosten avulla tehdään päätös mitä näistä ohjelmistoista tullaan käyttämään seuraavan sukupolven avoimella alustalla, joka tulee toimimaan Nokian Intelligent Service Nodessa. Tämä verkon laite toimii yhdyskäytävänäerilaisten verkkojen välillä.

Työssä tutkitaan eri mekanismeja rajojen ylittävään innovaatioiden edistämiseen pienten ja keskisuurten yritysten näkökulmasta. Case ympäristönä on Kaakkois-Suomen ja Luoteis-Venäjän alueeli Pietarin Corridor. Tavoitteena on löytää tarkemmat määritykset ja rajauksetnäille mekanismeille. Teoriassa muodostettiin viitekehys rajojen ylittävälle innovaatioiden edistämismallille. Mallin pohjalta toteutettiinhaastattelututkimus, joka suoritettiin case-ympäristössä. Haastattelujoukko koostui yritysten edustajista, tutkimus-henkilöstöstä sekä julkisista toimijoista. Innovaatiojärjestelmä oli avoin uusille toimintamenetelmille.Menetelmien toteuttamistapa kuitenkin jakoi mielipiteitä. Toimijoiden välille tarvitaan parempaa yhteistyötä ja tämän kautta selkeämpää kommunikointia yritysten suuntaan. Innovaatioiden edistämiseen ehdotetaan Innovation Relay Centre tyyppisen toiminnan laajentamista Corridorin alueelle sekä sen käyttämän teknologioiden välittämismallin sekä kansainvälisen verkoston hyödyntämistä. Edistämisen tukena tulisi käyttää innovaatiotietokanta-työkalua.

Abstract:The objective of this work was to evaluate whether a canopy sensor is capable of estimating sugarcane response to N, as well as to propose strategies for handling the data generated by this device during the decision-making process for crop N fertilization. Four N rate-response experiments were carried out, with N rates varying from 0 to 240 kg ha-1. Two evaluations with the canopy sensor were performed when the plants reached average stalk height of 0.3 and 0.5 m. Only two experiments showed stalk yield response to N rates. The canopy sensor was able to identify the crop response to different N rates and the relationship of the nutrient with sugarcane yield. The response index values obtained from the canopy sensor readings were useful in assessing sugarcane response to the applied N rate. Canopy reflectance sensors can help to identify areas responsive to N fertilization and, therefore, improve sugarcane fertilizer management.

BACKGROUND: There is limited safety information on most drugs used during pregnancy. This is especially true for medication against tropical diseases because pharmacovigilance systems are not much developed in these settings. The aim of the present study was to demonstrate feasibility of using Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) as a platform to monitor drug safety in pregnancy. METHODS: Pregnant women with gestational age below 20 weeks were recruited from Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) clinics or from monthly house visits carried out for the HDSS. A structured questionnaire was used to interview pregnant women. Participants were followed on monthly basis to record any new drug used as well as pregnancy outcome. RESULTS: 1089 pregnant women were recruited; 994 (91.3%) completed the follow-up until delivery. 98% women reported to have taken at least one medication during pregnancy, mainly those used in antenatal programmes. Other most reported drugs were analgesics (24%), antibiotics (17%), and antimalarial (15%), excluding IPTp. Artemether-lumefantrine (AL) was the most used antimalarial for treating illness by nearly 3/4 compared to other groups of malaria drugs. Overall, antimalarial and antibiotic exposures in pregnancy were not significantly associated with adverse pregnancy outcome. Iron and folic acid supplementation were associated with decreased risk of miscarriage/stillbirth (OR 0.1; 0.08 - 0.3). CONCLUSION: Almost all women were exposed to medication during pregnancy. Exposure to iron and folic acid had a beneficial effect on pregnancy outcome. HDSS proved to be a useful platform to establish a reliable pharmacovigilance system in resource-limited countries. Widening drug safety information is essential to facilitate evidence based risk-benefit decision for treatment during pregnancy, a major challenge with newly marketed medicines.

The Valanginian is marked by a major platform demise inducing a hiatus in the northern Tethyan neritic carbonate record from the top of the lower Valanginian to the lower Hauterivian. New biostratigraphic and chemostratigraphic data from the Ollioules section (Provence Platform, southern France) are presented here, demonstrating that a large part of the upper Valanginian is preserved in an inner platform environment. The thick, upper Valanginian, aggrading carbonate succession is observed in an aborted rift domain, implying relatively low subsidence. In this context, a relatively long-term sea-level rise was required to sustain a keep-up style of carbonate production. Like the Apulian Platform, the remarkable preservation of the Provence Platform may have been favored by its remoteness from terrigenous source areas, as suggested by the low clastic inputs and low P-accumulation rates. Two main biotic community replacements are observed in Ollioules. The first saw the development of abundant microbialites and algae at the onset of the late Valanginian. A Tubiphytes concentration occurred during the coolest climatic conditions and the transition towards arid conditions, whereas the subsequent Lithocodium-Bacinella and orbitolinids assemblages developed under low nutrient conditions during a warmer interval. Both assemblages may have been triggered by increased alkalinity. The second community replacement saw the installation of coral- and rudist-dominated communities during the latest Valanginian to early Hauterivian. They indicate a change to oligotrophic, open marine conditions. Six medium-scale sequences have been defined in Ollioules, indicating short-term transgressive-regressive trends superimposed on a long-term transgression. Low nutrient inputs and relatively low subsidence in an aggradational context may explain the survival of the isolated Provence Carbonate Platform during a time of widespread drowning episodes and platform demise in the northern Tethyan domain. Palvelukehitystoiminta sitoo huomattavan määrän resursseja ja on pitkäkestoista toimintaa. Innovatiivisuuteen tähtäämällä ja systemaattisella tuotekehitystyöllä yritys parantaa jatkuvuutta omassa liiketoiminnassaan. Alusta-ajattelu tuo uuden ulottuvuuden tuotteiden ja palveluiden kehitykseen. Alustan kehittäminen tukemaan tuote- ja palvelukehitystoimintaa ja yksinkertaistamaan tuote/palvelurakenteita antaa yrityksissä lisäpotentiaalia esimerkiksi lyhentyneiden kehitysaikojen, paremman kompleksisuuden hallinnan ja kustannustehokkuuden nousun myötä. Toimintojen tehostuminen yritystasolla saa aikaan mahdollisuuksien lisääntymisen nykyisillä liiketoimintasektoreilla. Palvelualustan kehityksellä päästään palvelurakenteen mallintamisen kautta parempaan liiketoiminnan hallitsemiseen ja systemaattisempaan tuotekehityksen läpivientiin. Palvelualustan yhtenä tärkeimpänä hyötynä on, että palvelun rakenteellisuus saadaan kuvattua alustaan. Lisäksi on tärkeää määritellä vastuutukset alustan kehityksessä, sekä pystyä mallintamaan informaation kulku (rajapinnat) prosesseissa.

Trabajo de final de carrera enfocado a la simulación de una WSN (Wireless Sensors Networks) mediante el programa Contiki 2.7 y el SO Ubuntu. La idea global del proyecto es conseguir simular un entorno con nodos sensores y, a posteriori, comprobar su correcto funcionamiento en motas reales, comprobando los resultados obtenidos en ambos entornos. De esta manera se puede facilitar la puesta en marcha de este tipo de redes inalámbricas en una aplicación real.
