Introduction: There are many important Finnish plays but, due to language barrier, Finnish drama is seldom exported, particularly to Hong Kong and China.. Objective: To find out differences in mentality between the Finnish and Chinese peoples by comparing the partially localized Chinese translation of Aleksis Kivi’s tragedy, Kullervo, with genuine Chinese martial arts literature. Methodology: 1. Chapman Chen has translated the Finnish classic, Kullervo, directly from Finnish into Chinese and published it in 2005. 2. In Chen’s Chinese translation, cultural markers are domesticated. On the other hand, values, characterization, plot, and rhythm remain unchanged. 3. According to Gideon Tory, the translator has to strike a golden mean between the norms of the source language and the target language. 4. Lau Tingci lists and explicates the essential components of martial arts drama. 5. According to Ehrnrooth’s “Mentality”, equality is the most important value in Finnish culture. Findings: i. Finland emphasizes independence while China emphasizes bilateral relationships. ii. The Finnish people loves freedom, but Gai Sizung argues that the Chinese people is slavish. iii. Finns are mature while many Chinese are, according to Sun Lung-kee (“The Deep Structure of Chinese Culture”; “The Deep Structure of Chinese Sexuality”), fixated at the oral and anal stages. iv. Finnish society highly values equality while Chinese interpersonal relationships are extremely complicated and hierachical. If Kullervo were a genuine Chinese kungfu story, the plot would be much more convoluted. Conclusion: The differences between Finnish and Chinese mentalities are so significant that partially localized or adapted Chinese translations of Finnish drama may still be able to introduce Finnish culture to the Chinese audience.

Introduction: Anxiety is a common problem in primary care and specialty medical settings. Treating an anxious patient takes more time and adds stress to staff. Unrecognised anxiety may lead to exam repetition, image artifacts and hinder the scan performance. Reducing patient anxiety at the onset is probably the most useful means of minimizing artifactual FDG uptake, both fat brown and skeletal muscle uptake, as well patient movement and claustrophobia. The aim of the study was to examine the effects of information giving on the anxiety levels of patients who are to undergo a PET/CT and whether the patient experience is enhanced with the creation of a guideline. Methodology: Two hundred and thirty two patients were given two questionnaires before and after the procedure to determine their prior knowledge, concerns, expectations and experiences about the study. Verbal information was given by one of the technologists after the completion of the first questionnaire. Results: Our results show that the main causes of anxiety in patients who are having a PET/CT is the fear of the procedure itself, and fear of the results. The patients who suffered from greater anxiety were those who were scanned during the initial stage of a disease. No significant differences were found between the anxiety levels pre procedural and post procedural. Findings with regard to satisfaction show us that the amount of information given before the procedure does not change the anxiety levels and therefore, does not influence patient satisfaction. Conclusions: The performance of a PET/CT scan is an important and statistically generator of anxiety. PET/CT patients are often poorly informed and present with a range of anxieties that may ultimately affect examination quality. The creation of a guideline may reduce the stress of not knowing what will happen, the anxiety created and may increase their satisfaction in the experience of having a PET/CT scan.

Existe actualmente um crescente desenvolvimento de sistemas de armazenamento e pesquisa de imagens. Uma aproximação adoptada nesses sistemas é a recuperação de imagens baseada em conteúdo (CBIR, Content-Based Image Retrieval). No âmbito destas aplicações existem utilizadores que pretendem utilizar imagens clip art para os seus trabalhos e apresentações. Existem muitas imagens clip art espalhadas por diversas bases de dados em sítios na Internet ou em colecções vendidas em dispositivos ópticos. A pesquisa de imagens nestas bases de dados leva os utilizadores a percorrem várias listas de imagens manualmente ou por métodos de pesquisa por texto, muitas vezes ineficientes. Essas bases de dados de clip arts são representadas por imagens vectoriais e imagens raster. Existem várias tecnologias de pesquisa e recuperação de ambos os tipos de imagens clip art, raster e vectoriais, contudo, a investigação tem sido realizada em separado sem retirar partido das duas áreas de investigação em conjunto, no problema de recuperar e explorar colecções de clip arts. O objectivo deste trabalho é implementar um motor de busca para encontrar clip arts em base de dados compostas por imagens vectoriais e imagens raster. O trabalho envolve um conversor de imagens raster em vectoriais, a extracção de características das imagens raster e vectoriais e a avaliação do sistema de recuperação de clip arts.

For the purpose of analyzing how did the considerable increase in the Portuguese tourism has influenced its cultural sector, this paper seeks to explore how has the company AntiFrame | Art Consulting replied to it. Arts Management: Contemporary Art Guides. Alibi – The Portuguese Case reviews some Arts Management literature whilst a multi-method approach is used. A market research was conducted, in which existing contemporary guides were analyzed as well as interviews made to tourists in Lisbon. Findings show that there is a flaw in the Portuguese contemporary art market, which the project Alibi aims to solve. Metrics on how the project’s results should be monitored, as part of a follow-up phase, were included, as well as limitations.
