This text aims to present the challenges and opportunities of omnilateral formation in Latin America as elaborated in Villela (2009-2010). This work has the horizon systematize the educational practices of the "Third World ", i.e. originating from the educational experience of Latin America, Africa and Asia. In the struggle for emancipation, these countries have built and are building unique educational practices. In this sense, we start questioning the historical and theoretical topic, omnilateral formation, and deployment, we discuss the Latin American school and omnilateral formation. We question specifically issues relating to “intellectuals and the organization of culture” in "schools in the countryside" in Cuba (1960- 1975). The issue of "intellectuals and the organization of culture", in a gramscian perspective (GRAMSCI, 2000), was addressed in several works throughout our academic career (VILLELA, 2003; 2008; 2009-2010). In order to further these issues, we address the challenges of formation for children and youth of the field in Latin America. By analyzing the educational practices in the schools in the countryside, emerges the theme of contemporary global justice.

This article presents the results of a research that has as its analysis focus the payment by performance, represented in the public educational system of the São Paulo State by the bonus-merit. The bonus, such as other measures implemented in the last decade, is part of neoliberal reforms that were predominant in the public educational system of the State. The article intends to debate the implications of this mechanism for the teaching from a bibliographic review about the topic as well as from the interpretation of data originated from a qualitative empirical investigation based on semi-structured interviews with second cycle teachers of high and middle schools of three regional departments of education. The results revealed an influence of performative and managerial elements in the organizational work of schools and teachers. Moreover, they showed that the payment by performance has not contributed for the improvement of the work conditions and for the career of the teachers, has a very limited impact to change the quality of education and thus represent a teacher accountability mechanism.

This article aims to narrate and analyze possibilities on aspects of the work developed by the group that composes the Mental Health and Public Health Improvement, using the Wheel Method, created by Gastão W. Campos, in different and diverse articulations and work organization spaces in psychosocial care field, such as Mental Health Forum, work groups related to Regional Collegiate Management (CGRs), with municipal teams to organize mental health network and with newcomer residents to a therapeutic residence It is from these different experiences that it is intended to reflect, discuss and promote a dialogue on the possibilities of the Wheel Method.

Objective: To analyze the association between sleep quality and quality of life of nursing professionals according to their work schedules. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional, observational study was conducted between January and December 2010, with 264 nursing professionals, drawn from 989 subjects at Botucatu General Hospital and stratified by professional category. The Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index and the WHOQOL-bref were administered to evaluate sleep quality and quality of life, respectively. Self-reported demographic data were collected with a standard form. Continuous variables were reported as means and standard deviations, and categorical variables were expressed as proportions. Associations were evaluated using Spearman's correlation coefficient. The association of night-shift work and gender with sleep disturbance was evaluated by logistic regression analysis using a model adjusted for age and considering sleep disturbance the dependent variable. The level of significance was p < 0.05. Results: Night-shift work was associated with severe worsening of at least one component of sleep quality in the model adjusted for age (OR = 1.91; 95% CI 1.04; 3.50; p = 0.036). Female gender was associated with sleep disturbance (OR = 3.40; 95% CI 1.37; 8.40; p = 0.008). Quality of life and quality of sleep were closely correlated (R = -0.56; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Characteristics of the nursing profession affect sleep quality and quality of life, and these two variables are associated.

A avaliação educacional pode ser compreendida como um campo da educação e, portanto, marcado por tensões, contradições, interesses, concepções de mundo, de homem, de sociedade e educação. Para alguns estudiosos desta temática, a avaliação transpõe as salas de aulas assumindo também uma posição central na organização e gestão do trabalho pedagógico e de políticas públicas para a educação, além de tornar-se um excelente instrumento de controle dos sujeitos que se encontram na tessitura do processo educativo. Este trabalho intentou traçar algumas percepções sobre a avaliação da aprendizagem no Curso de Graduação em Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP) - Campus de Rio Claro, através da ótica dos alunos dos anos finais deste Curso. Nesse sentido, buscou-se desenvolver um estudo qualitativo a partir de entrevistas semiestruturada, objetivando identificar as principais concepções e práticas sobre a avaliação da aprendizagem no curso. Os relatos indicam que a prática avaliativa, na maioria dos casos, vem adquirindo fortemente uma função somativa e classificatória, centralizada na memorização e reprodução de informações, ocorrendo quase sempre de maneira externa ao aluno e focada nos resultados da aprendizagem (produto). Pode-se dizer que a nota tem servido ora para ocultar e manter as relações hierárquicas, ora para selecionar aqueles que vão gozar de um incentivo financeiro para o desenvolvimento de outras experiências acadêmicas, resguardando uma lógica meritocrática e seletiva. De modo geral, a prática avaliativa pouco tem contribuído para a (re)organização do trabalho pedagógico pelo professor e para a superação das dificuldades e incompreensões dos alunos. The idea of "mature development" is based, frequently, on explanations of school failure: the student does not learn because he is immature and the school has to wait until he gets "mature". When one says that a child is not mature compared to the development already attained by an adult, one focuses only the quantitative differences between them and forgets that these new qualities of the adult did not arise by the maturation, but by the permanent appropriation process of the human culture. Thus, this idea of "maturity of development" expresses a deep biologization of the human being, reducing social and educational problems explanation to the biological apparatus of the individual. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the relationship between maturation and development, pointing out the limits of biologists’ explanations of human phenomena and the possibilities of explanation formulated by the historical-cultural theory to the organization of pedagogical work. This concept gives a new configuration to the role of maturation in the learning process and gives the school education a central role in the development of higher psychological functions. Thus, the school does not have to wait for the child’s maturation. Rather, it is its duty to create conditions for his/her maturation to become effective.

This research aimed to identify and analyze the impact of stressful events associated with the school administrators in teacher malaise. 29 managers participated in his capacity as directors or deputy directors of the municipal system, the interior of São Paulo, with responses to the Inventory IMPIL (Evaluación Psicológica Del Estrés por InestabilidadLaboral - FIGUEROA; SCHUFER, 2006). The results indicate the presence of stressors in all areas assessed at different rates. The highest ranking stressors were concerns with health, emotional Diseases and economic concerns. The degree of discomfort tends to increase with age, but since the entry into this function. The extensive powers of management, indicate the occurrence of different degrees of impact between the groups, demonstrating that subjectivity needs to be considered for proposing improvements in working conditions and health organizations. Social changes, the demands of educational reforms and lack of recognition of the profession were associated with teacher malaise.

Education is a basic right of every citizen guaranteed by the Federal Constitution of 1988, so that everyone is able to exercise their civil, political, economic and social. But in Brazil, this right has not yet been effected in all its concreteness and current privatization strategy have brought change to the right to education. Recent research from GREPPE (Group of Studies and Research in Educational Policy) identify different modalities of privatization of basic education, with emphasis on the privatization of supply, management and organization of the pedagogical work through the adoption of private educational systems. This study aimed to identify and discuss how the issue of privatization of education in Brazil is currently being treated in journal articles contained in the database SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online.
