La División de Zoología de Vertebrados de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata y la Secretaria de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sustentable de la Nación a través de su Proyecto Marino Patagónico, han tomado esta responsabilidad con el convencimiento de la necesidad de contar con nuevos escenarios para el encuentro de profesionales de la especialidad. El intercambio de experiencias desde las distintas especialidades, el reconocimiento de las fortalezas y debilidades para el desarrollo de proyectos, el intercambio de ideas sobre los vacíos de información y la disponibilidad de recursos financieros, constituyen algunos de los elementos esenciales para el fortalecimiento de la investigación y el desarrollo tecnológico nacional y regional. Eigenmannia trilineata (Teleostomi, Sternopyginae). Nueva especie hallada en el Río de la Plata.

Revisando los gimnótidos del Río de la Plata, se halló una forma afin a Eigenmannia virescens con la que ha sido confundida.

Sternopygus macrurus (Bloch y Schneider) (Teleostomi, Sternopyginae). Primera cita para la Argentina.

Revisando la colección de gimnótidos del MACN, se hallaron dos ejemplares de Sternopygus macrurus procedentes del Riacho de Oro, afluente del río Paraguay, en la provincia de Formosa. Se amplío la distribución de esta especie al norte de la Argentina.

Its deal with the study of a sample of "river ray" of the Potamotrygonidae family procured in the Colastiné river (Midle Paraná)showing an external morphology relating it closely to two species of said family: Potamotrygon falkneri Castex y Maciel, 1963 and P. menchacai Martínez Achembach, 1965.

Peces continentales de la Argentina: Iconografía. Brycon orbignyanus.

The goal of this work is to present a collection of drawings and figures depicting the species present in our country. To achieve this, our main sources of information have been the works of Ringuelet et al. (1967), Reis et al. (2003), and López et al. (2003; 2006), as well as the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. Each species has an individual factsheet with selected images, including some from anatomical research works. All the works referenced are mentioned in each factsheet. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. As compilers, we understand that this contribution not only provides valuable information, but also highlights the work of men and women who are part of the rich history of our national and regional ichthyology.

Peces continentales de la Argentina: Bibliografía. Brycon orbignyanus.

The goal of this work is to compile the existing information about the species present in our country. This has been done by means of datasheets that list both local references and reviews by foreign authors that include Argentine taxa. The main information sources consulted were Ringuelet et al. (1967), CLOFFSCA (2003), López et al. (2003; 2006), Liotta (2006) and the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. With this contribution, we hope to help to build a database of the freshwater fish of Argentina. The completion of this project will provide support to diverse plans emanating from different sectors, as well as promote the diffusion of this field of research and reaffirm Argentina’s sovereign rights over our natural resources.
