Renewable energy scenarios for South Karelia – non-industrial energy demands

Tässä diplomityössä tarkastellaan täysin uusiutuvaa energiajärjestelmää Etelä-Karjalan maakunnan alueella, mikä onkin jo tällä hetkellä Suomen uusiutuvin maakunta. Diplomityössä tarkastellaan julkisen sektorin, liikenteen ja rakennusten energian kulutusta mutta teollisuuden energiankäyttö jätetään tarkastelun ulkopuolelle. Työssä tutustutaan tämän hetken Etelä-Karjalan energiajärjestelmään ja sen perusteella tehdään referenssi-skenaario. Tulevaisuuden skenaariot tehdään vuosille 2030 ja 2050. Tulevaisuuden skenaarioissa muutos keskittyy järjestelmän sähköistymiseen ja uusiutuvien tuotantomuotojen integroimiseen järjestelmään. Sähköistyminen kasvattaa sähkönkulutusta, joka pyritään kattamaan uusiutuvilla tuotantomuodoilla, lähinnä tuuli- ja aurinkovoimalla. Liikennesektori rajataan kumipyöräliikenteeseen ja sen muutos tulee olemaan haastavin ja aikaa vievin. Muutokseen pyritään liikennepolttoaineiden tuotannolla maakunnassa sekä sähköautoilulla. Uusiutuva energiajärjestelmä tarvitsee tuotannon ja kysynnän joustoa sekä älyä järjestelmältä. Työssä tarkastellaan myös järjestelmän kustannuksia sekä työllisyysvaikutuksia.

Problems of Tourism Development on a Regional Scale

In the first part of the study the types of barriers to tourism development that may occur during the planning phase of this development, and in the phase of implementation of these plans, including the endogenous and exogenous barriers, were presented. The second part presents the results of research on the factors hindering the development of tourism identified in the selected region of Wielkopolska Province (Poland). The article presents detailed description of tourism barriers categories, which include: political and legal, economic, infrastructure, social, geographical and organizational problems. In the final part article presents a difference in the understanding of problems depending on the stakeholder groups, which leads to the conclusion that in order to be able to specifically identify problematic issues opinion of different stakeholders categories should be recognized. Only such action can lead to the construction of the development strategy, which will not have any areas of uncertainty (i.e. «gaps» in the identifying problem areas).

Primary Care Service Areas in South Carolina

This project was developed in collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Primary Care Office in order to identify primary care market areas and resources within South Carolina. Primary Care Service Areas are designed to identify small geographic areas that are relatively self-contained markets for primary care. Included is a map and listing for Primary Care Service Areas in the state.

South Carolina State Plan on Aging 2017-2021

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging hereby submits the Federal Fiscal Year 2017 – 2021 State Plan on Aging for the State of South Carolina to the Assistant Secretary on Aging of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The plan is effective for the period of October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2020. This document lays out a long-term strategic blueprint that focuses on how the state will modernize its service delivery system, while expanding the service options available for older South Carolinians, adults with disabilities, and their families. It also sets goals for consumer choice, and person centered and self-directed services. It addresses marketing, outreach, and advocacy issues, as well as the development of initiatives geared toward promoting evidence-based, consumer-directed, and community-based long-term services and supports.

Complete genome of the multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strain KBN10P02143 isolated from Korea

Acinetobacter baumannii , a strictly aerobic, non-fermentative, Gram-negative coccobacillary rod-shaped bacterium, is an opportunistic pathogen in humans. We recently isolated a multidrug-resistant A. baumannii strain KBN10P02143 from the pus sample drawn from a surgical patient in South Korea. We report the complete genome of this strain, which consists of 4,139,396 bp (G + C content, 39.08%) with 3,868 protein-coding genes, 73 tRNAs and six rRNA operons. Identification of the genes related to multidrug resistance from this genome and the discovery of a novel conjugative plasmid will increase our understanding of the pathogenicity associated with this species.
