The multi-electron processes are investigated for 17.9-120keV/u C1+, 30-323 keV/u C2+, 120-438 keV/u C3+, 287-480keV/u C4+ incident on a helium target. The cross-section ratios of double electron (DE) process to the total of the single electron (SE) and the double electron process (i.e. SE+DE), the direct double electron (DDI) to the direct single ionization (DSI) as well as the contributions of DDI to DE and of TI to DE are measured using coincidence techniques. The energy and charge state dependences of the measured cross-section ratios are studied and discussed.

By use of optical spectrum technology, the spectra of X-ray induced by highly charged Ar-40(q+) ions interacting with Au surface have been studied. The results show that the argon K alpha X-ray were emitted from the hollow atoms formed below the surface. There is a process of multi-electron exciting in neutralization of the Ar16+ ion, with electronic configuration 1s(2) in its ground state below the solid surface. The yield of the projectile K alpha X-ray is related to its initial electronic configuration, and the yield of the target X-ray is related to the projectile kinetic energy.

The electron emission induced by highly charged ions Pb-207(q+) (24 <= q <= 36) interacting with Si(110) surface is reported. The result shows that the electron emission yield Y has a strong dependence on the projectile charge state q, incidence angle psi and impact energy E. In fitting the experimental data we found a nearly 1/tan psi dependence of Y. Theoretical analysis shows that these processes are closely related to the process of potential electron emission based on the classical over-the-barrier model.

The alpha-decay half-lives of recently synthesized superheavy nuclei (SHN) are investigated by employing a unified fission model (UFM) where a new method to calculate the assault frequency of alpha emission is used. The excellent agreement with the experimental data indicates the UFM is a useful tool to investigate these alpha decays. It is found that the alpha-decay half-lives become more and more insensitive to the Q(alpha) values as the atomic number increases on the whole, which is favorable for us to predict the half-lives of SHN. In addition, a formula is proposed to compute the Q(alpha) values for the nuclei with Z >= 92 and N >= 140 with a good accuracy, according to which the long-lived SHN should be neutron rich. Several weeks ago, two isotopes of a new element with atomic number Z = 117 were synthesized and their alpha-decay chains have been observed. The Q(alpha) formula is found to work well for these nuclei, confirming its predictive power. The experimental half-lives are well reproduced by employing the UFM with the experimental Q(alpha) values. This fact that the experimental half-lives are compatible with experimental Q(alpha) values supports the synthesis of a new element 117 and the experimental measurements to a certain extent.

A 3-dimensional non-commutative oscillator with no mass term but with an appropriate momentum-dependent potential admits a conserved Runge-Lenz vector, derived from the dual description in momentum space. The trajectories lie on ellipses. The dynamical symmetry allows for an algebraic determination of the bound-state spectrum and extends to o(4,2). (c) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Molybdenum L-shell X-rays were produced by Xeq+ (q = 25-30) bombardment at low energies from 2.65 to 4.55 keV/amu (350-600 keV). We observed a kinetic energy threshold of Mo L-shell ionization down to 2.65-3.03 keV/amu (350-400 keV). The charge state effect of the incident ions was not observed which shows that the ions were neutralized, reaching an equilibrium charge state and losing their initial charge state memory before production of L-shell vacancies resulted in X-ray production. The experimental ionization cross sections were compared with those from Binary Encounter Approximation theory. Taking into account projectile deflection in the target nuclear Coulomb field, the ionization cross section of Mo L-shell near the kinetic energy threshold was well described. The axial charges of the proton and N(1440) are studied in the framework of an extended constituent quark model (CQM) including qqqq (q) over bar components. The cancellation between the contributions of qqq components and qqqq (q) over bar components gives a natural explanation to the experimental value of the proton axial charge, which can not be well reproduced in the traditional CQM even after the SU (6) circle times O(3) symmetry breaking is taken into account. The experimental value of axial charge pins down the proportion of the qqqq (q) over bar component in the proton to about 20%, which is consistent with the ones given by the strong decay widths and helicity amplitudes. Besides, an axial charge for N(1440) about 1 is predicted with 30% qqqq (q) over bar component, which is obtained by the strong and electromagnetic decays.

We studied the characteristic X-ray spectra produced by the interaction of highly charged ions of X-129(q+) (q =25, 26, 27) with surface of metallic Mo. The experimental result shows that highly charged ions can excite the characteristic X-ray spectra of L-shell of Mo when the beam' s intensity is not more than 120 nA. The X-ray yield of single ion reaches a quantitative level of 10(-8) and increases with the increment of the ion' s kinetic energy and ionic charge (potential energy). By measuring the X-ray spectra of Mo-L alpha(1) the M-level lifetime of Mo atom is estimated by using Heisenberg uncertainty relation.
