Fruiting bodies represents human engagement with and consciousness of a corresponding presence in our landscape. ʻFruiting Bodiesʼ is an instance of the application of this practice employed to ask the viewer to consider how strange is the phenomenon of the fruiting tree. Is it promiscuous to offer your seed openly to the elements, to any who will take it. Is this forbidden? Is it profligate to hide your progeny inside gifts so tempting in their appeal to that most primitive desire, hunger? European Renaissance and Romantic landscape appeared in vistas. The conditions of the industrial revolution and, according to Patrick Maynard and Jonathon Crary, the film camera especially, led to a Modernist re-vision vividly recorded in Xavier Herbert’s contrary Modernist vision, prompted by seeing the Australian bush, its ‘... stunted trees, the mulga and the wilga and the gimlet gum, doing a kind of dance, spinning past, seeming to swing away from the train to the horizon and race ahead, to come back...the same set of trees in endless gyration’.

Space at the coincidence of ‘landscape’ and ‘human’ is being radically refigured in contemporary photomedia to deal with being; noun and verb. Practice by Australians Daniel Crooks, David Stephenson, Kristian Haggblom and Marian Drew, and my own, positions a third figure, the self, in our confounding landscape.
Drawing on the theories of phenomenology, 'ecological psychology' and psychogeography, we explore by analogy the way our articulated body, mobile head, and socketed eyes concert to search our space. Condensing space with time creates a visceral awareness of the environment; the scratching thorns as much as the soaring treetops. From a revealed connection between body and environment come signs of mind and attention.

I coordinated a series of workshops - involving researchers Merinda Kelly, Dr Jondi Keane and David Fitzsimmons - on object, space and performance which led to a major exhibition outcome for participating artists. Specifically I led a workshop with installation artist David Fitzsimmons on spatial practices.

Initiated by Courthouse ARTS and in partnership with Deakin’s School of Communication and Creative Arts Geelong hosted a fringe festival event titled 'The New Wilderness'. This is the an extract from the proposal put forward to both the board at Courthouse ARTS centre and the executive in the Faculty of Arts and Education:

Given the change in the economic foundations and demographics in the region a festival of the arts, centred in Geelong, is timely and, potentially, regenerative. In a series of workshops, events, performances and exhibitions – staged at Courthouse ARTS, open to the community and spanning the first week of September – the focus will be on risk, innovation, subversion and transformation. Incorporating each of these words as prompts one exciting project, The New Wilderness, uses the visual arts, creative writing and the performing arts to engage young people in practice and cross-disciplinary collaboration. With an emphasis on process the project will engage participants in a lab/studio environment over a week. Installation artists and Deakin staff members will facilitate an introduction and workshop on the theme, The New Wilderness, asking that participants respond: firstly in making a series of images and installations that transform space; secondly, in creative writing responses; and thirdly, in a series of short performance pieces interpreting the text, images and spaces created during the week. Participants will be on a time-line and encouraged to interpret and critically engage with the theme, each other and the issues set to transform the region – such as the disappearing manufacturing industry and the vast spaces it leaves behind.

The present work is about the reproduction of the urban area of Nova Cruz RN, with the objective of analyzing the social and spatial implications of the relocation of the main street market in the city from 1991 on. Nowadays, the city of Nova Cruz takes over importance in the potiguar social and spatial scenario due to its condition of central city which is practiced for decades in Potiguar Agreste Microregion. Beginning with its formation process connected with traveler‟s hostel which assisted the activity of cattle transportation, further in time by the golden era of cotton production in its territory, it was noticed that its importance in relation with the nearby towns has been happening differently throughout time. From the year 1991 on, the town of Nova Cruz has gone through a territory restructuring of its urban area due to the relocation of the open market from Downtown neighborhood to São Sebastião neighborhood. Such territorial movement resulted in a reformation of the town‟s urban space, promoting in both neighborhoods urban growth and the expansion of commercial activity associated with the migration of the commercial center of the city. The transference of the commercial area has caused these processes through the new uses of the land towards the São Sebastião region, it has also caused a decrease in market value of the downtown area as a result of the breakdown of previous existing business activities, their service contribution and the citizen migration, establishing a space and socioeconomic portrait in the neighborhood. From this context, our analysis seeks to understand the social and spatial impacts occurred in Downtown neighborhood, the way in which the production and reproduction of the urban space in São Sebastião neighborhood and the implications resulted from the actions of the administrative power in restructuring of the urban space of Nova Cruz. In order to do so, a bibliographical research was used to compose our theoretic-conceptual mark, discussing the matter with authors such as Roberto Lobato Corrêa, Ana Fani, Milton Santos, Manuel Castells e Heri Lefvbre, among others, discussing on the subject of urban analysis, the concepts of urban space and the process of reproduction of the urban space. A field research was utilized in our area of study by means of primary data gathering through interviews, questionnaire and photographic register. Secondary data gathering was also obtained by means of bibliographical and documental research related to our study object. By these means, it was sought to contribute to the understanding of the urban space through its production and reproduction based upon the discovery of social and spatial practices

New real estate launch products and closed residential spaces, occurs with increasing frequency in Brazilian cities and are based on the assumption that there is a general increase in violence, as we address urban insecurity, which involves individual coping, and privatizing adept practices of exacerbated control mechanisms. We researched deployment and appropriation of residential spaces in middle cities of Sao Paulo (Brazil). We identify social representations of the others, blamed for insecurity growing, and analyzed from everyday life perspective. We hypothesized that new forms of production of urban space with a tendency to social and spatial fragmentation, generate new practices.

This work aims to approach the Youth Studies to the Geography. It adressesYouth Sociability through the nightlife entertainment context, considering the spatiality and temporality of this phenomenon and its territorialization in urban space. For this, we made a case study of a Leisure Spot - a centrality formed by the cohesion of evening entertainment establishments, which serves as a reference of entertainment to their attenders and also to the residents of the city - located in the Jardim Bongiovani one of the university district of Presidente Prudente - SP. The study sought to reconstruct the historical process of formation and structuring of that spot, and know its current dynamics, based on Participant Observation. Thus, we sought to identify the social actors that were there and their spatial practices, its paths and streams, the reference group identity, and spatial references and territorializations in the Leisure Spot, and also the ways of the youth to gain visibility in this scenario of urban spectacle
