A estimativa da mineralização de N e de C é essencial no desenvolvimento de práticas que maximizem a eficiência no uso de N, especialmente no caso do eucalipto, que apresenta baixa magnitude de resposta à fertilização nitrogenada. Foram estimadas as taxas de mineralização de N e de C e avaliados os potenciais de mineralização de N e de C de solos sob plantações de eucalipto de 1, 3, 5 e 13 anos de idade, crescendo sob condições edafoclimáticas semelhantes. Amostras de solo foram coletadas na profundidade de 0-10 cm, em novembro de 2003. Essas amostras foram incubadas por períodos sucessivos de 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 4, 4 e 4 semanas, totalizando 19 semanas, sob condições aeróbias, em laboratório. O N mineralizado das amostras incubadas foi extraído periodicamente e determinado por colorimetria, e o C mineralizado, por titulação após liberação de C-CO2 a cada período de incubação. O valor médio de N mineralizado acumulado (Nm) foi de 58 mg kg-1 de N no solo e não diferiu significativamente entre as idades. As quantidades de N potencialmente mineralizável (No) variaram de 58 a 87 mg kg-1, o que representou 3,4 a 5,2 % do N total do solo (Nt), tomando por base a razão No:Nt. A forma predominante de N mineral em todas as idades foi o N-NH4+. As quantidades totais de C mineralizado (Cm) diferiram significativamente entre as idades, variando de 606 a 1.122 mg kg-1 de C no solo. O C potencialmente mineralizável (Co) dos solos foi, em média, de 862 mg kg-1 de C-CO2, o que representou 3,4 % do C orgânico do solo (Corg), de acordo com a razão Co:Corg. A taxa e o potencial de mineralização de C e N não foram influenciados pela idade das plantações do eucalipto. As reservas de N potencialmente mineralizável dos solos seriam suficientes para atender à demanda de N pelo eucalipto em rotações futuras.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a eficácia da sequência de ressonância magnética com três excitações, para obtenção de volumes e massas ventriculares, em indivíduos com respiração livre, sem apneia. MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Em 32 voluntários sadios, foram comparados os volumes e massas do ventrículo esquerdo, obtidos por meio de duas sequências de ressonância magnética em modo cine. A primeira, tradicionalmente utilizada e considerada padrão, em apneia e com excitação única, e a segunda, em respiração livre e com três excitações. Três leitores, com diferentes níveis de experiência, testaram a concordância e a reprodutibilidade. Para a análise estatística foram utilizados o coeficiente de correlação intraclasse, o teste t-pareado, os gráficos de Bland-Altman e o teste do sinal. RESULTADOS: Para os dois observadores mais experientes, os coeficientes de correlação intraclasse foram superiores a 0,913, assim como os níveis descritivos do teste t-pareado acima de 0,05, os gráficos de Bland-Altman com as diferenças distribuídas aleatoriamente em torno do zero e o teste do sinal com seu nível descritivo superior a 0,05. CONCLUSÃO: A sequência testada apresenta ótima concordância e reprodutibilidade em relação à sequência padrão, podendo ser aplicada em indivíduos com limitações respiratórias.

Colesteatomas são lesões císticas congênitas ou adquiridas que acometem as orelhas e que podem apresentar padrões típicos aos estudos de tomografia computadorizada, em função de suas características expansivas e tendência a promover erosão óssea. Entretanto, particularmente nos casos de resíduo ou recorrência pós-cirúrgica, a distinção entre colesteatoma e tecido inflamatório pode ser bastante difícil e, não raro, impossível com base somente nos achados tomográficos. A avaliação por ressonância magnética pode ser útil, particularmente neste contexto, uma vez que as sequências pós-contraste obtidas tardiamente e a difusão podem demonstrar padrões distintos nestas duas situações. Os artefatos condicionados pela interface ar/osso na região das mastoides podem limitar bastante a utilização da sequência de difusão echo-planar. A sequência de difusão sem echo-planar é uma alternativa na solução deste problema por estar menos sujeita a este tipo de artefato, fornecendo ainda imagens com maior resolução espacial e com espessuras de corte mais finas, as quais permitem a detecção de colesteatomas de pequenas dimensões.

The Steady-State Free Precession (SSFP) sequence has been widely used in low-field and low-resolution imaging NMR experiments to increase the signal-to-noise ratio (s/n) of the signals. Here, we analyzed the Scrambled Steady State - SSS and Unscrambled Steady State - USS sequences to suppress phase anomalies and sidebands of the 13C NMR spectrum acquired in the SSFP regime. The results showed that the application of the USS sequence allowed a uniform distribution of the time interval between pulses (Tp), in the established time range, allowing a greater suppression of phase anomalies and sidebands, when compared with the SSS sequence.

Let X and Y be Banach spaces isomorphic to complemented subspaces of each other with supplements A and B. In 1996, W. T. Gowers solved the Schroeder-Bernstein (or Cantor-Bernstein) problem for Banach spaces by showing that X is not necessarily isomorphic to Y. In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition on the sextuples (p, q, r, s, u, v) in N with p + q >= 1, r + s >= 1 and u, v is an element of N*, to provide that X is isomorphic to Y, whenever these spaces satisfy the following decomposition scheme A(u) similar to X(P) circle plus Y(q) B(v) similar to X(r) circle plus Y(s). Namely, Phi = (p - u)(s - v) - (q + u)(r + v) is different from zero and Phi divides p + q and r + s. These sextuples are called Cantor-Bernstein sextuples for Banach spaces. The simplest case (1, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1) indicates the well-known Pelczynski`s decomposition method in Banach space. On the other hand, by interchanging some Banach spaces in the above decomposition scheme, refinements of the Schroeder-Bernstein problem become evident.

Composite laminates with plies in different directions finely dispersed are classified as homogenized. The expected benefits of homogenization include increased mechanical strength, toughness and resistance to delamination. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of stacking sequence on the tensile strength of laminates. Composite plates were fabricated using unidirectional layers of carbon/epoxy prepreg with configurations [903/303/-303]S and [90/30/-30]3S. Specimens were subjected to tensile and open hole tension (OHT) tests. According to the experimental results, the mean values of strength for the homogenized laminates [90/30/-30]3S were 140% and 120% greater for tensile and OHT tests, respectively, as compared to laminates with configuration [903/303/-303]S. The increase in tensile strength for more homogenized laminates was associated with the increment in interlaminar interfaces, which requires more energy to produce delamination, and the more complicated crack propagation through plies with different orientations. OHT strength was not affected by the presence of the hole due to the predominance of the interlaminar shear stress in relation to the stress concentration produced by the hole

This paper proposes a procedure to control on-line processes for attributes, using an Shewhart control chart with two control limits (warning limit and control limit) and will be based on a sequence of inspection (h). The inspection procedure is based on Taguchi et al. (1989), in which to inspect the item, if the number of non-conformities is higher than an upper control limit, the process needs to be stopped and some adjustment is required; and, if the last inspection h, from all items inspected present a number of non-conformities between the control limit and warning limit. The items inspected will suffer destructive inspection, being discarded after inspection. Properties of an ergodic Markov chain are used to get the expression of average cost per item and the aim was the determination of four optimized parameters: the sampling interval of the inspections (m); the constant W to draw the warning limit (W); the constant C to draw the control limit (C), where W £ C, and the length of sequence of inspections (h). The present study aims to analyze the potentialities and limitations of GeoGebra software on what concerns trigonometry s teaching and learning processes. Taking the present resources of public school from the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the research intends to answer the following question: Could we use the current conditions of public school and the Geogebra software to optimize the trigonometry s learning and teaching processes situation? . To make it a possible to answer the question above, a module of investigative activities was created and applied. The methodological intervention was made among second year High School students from a public school in Natal, RN. The theoretical reference of Mathematics Didactics was taken was a base, adopting the conceptions of Borba and Penteado (2001), Valente (1999) and Zulatto (2002, 2007) about the use of Information Technology (IT) on Mathematics classrooms. In order to create the investigative activities helped us to understand how the students make their constructions and their visual perception through the process of dragging images on the computer screen. Furthermore, the activities done with the GeoGebra software s resources facilitate the resolution of trigonometry situations

The present work aims to report the construction of a workbook for teaching trigonometry focusing the possible mix between the historical approach to the teaching of mathematics and the professional master´s degree. For this, considerations about the history of mathematics as a teaching methodology, the education of the math teacher who will teach trigonometry and also about the course of elaboration and experimentation of the activities in the workbook were made (using the methodological strategy of action research). Finally, the workbook for the teaching of trigonometry in a historical approach is presented as an example of the above mentioned mix between the history of mathematics, mathematical school content and the professional master´s degree

This study is qualitative, including literature search and preparation of teaching materials. Your goal is to report the study of geometric problems of character presented in the application of trigonometry and work on the preparation of detailed activities that help in overcoming these difficulties. For this, we read some papers on teaching and learning of trigonometry in order to identify the difficulties encountered during their journey. Then separate the geometric difficulties of character and prepare a list of geometric content and procedures associated with them. Thus, we can organize a notebook with activities that would address most of these concepts. Finally we present the specification of activities called Activity on introductory concepts to the study of trigonometry

Throughout its history the population of the region of Mato Grande, which includes the city of João Câmara, in Rio Grande do Norte, was subject to earthquakes. These events are caused by a geological fault, known as fault Samambaia. In the 1980s there was an intensification of this phenomenon culminating in an earthquake 5.1 on the Richter scale in the early hours of November 30, 1986, causing researchers from Brazil and other countries to shift to the region to conduct research in Seismology. During this period there was a strong interaction between scientists and local people. With the aim of studying how people experienced that moment that marked the history of the city of João Câmara, from interviews with some individuals who witnessed the incident, is that this research was developed. Taking as a theoretical approach to Science, Technology and Society (STS), aimed to thus carry the theme in a systematic way to the classroom, promoting ways to help teachers with the scientific training and guidance to students in case of occurrence of earthquakes

This paper aims to describe the construction and validation of a notebook of activities whose content is a didactic sequence that makes use of the study of ancient numbering systems as compared to the object of our decimal positional numbering system Arabic. This is on the assumption that the comparison with a system different from our own might provide a better understanding of our own numbering system, but also help in the process of arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction and multiplication, since it will force us to think in ways that are not routinely object of our attention. The systems covered in the study were the Egyptian hieroglyphic system of numbering, the numbering system Greek alphabet and Roman numbering system, always compared to our numbering system. The following teachung is presented structured in the form of our activities, so-called exercise set and common tasks around a former same numbering system. In its final stage of preparation, the sequence with the participation of 26 primary school teachers of basic education
