This study focuses on the importance of the professional nurse in the exercise of extended care under the Mental Health of assistance provided by ESF. Aims to identify the difficulties experienced by nursing staff for assistance to people affected by mental illness. Inserts on the assumptions of qualitative research, and data collection used the semi-structured interviews and analyzed the material obtained through the thematic analysis. From the interviews the subjects were apprehended training/capacity building, intersectoral and little bias. These professionals have demonstrated that lack of skills to deal with the subjectivity of care, there is a failure in coordination among sectors of the area and that prejudice is still present in professional practice

Usuários de serviço de saúde mental: o que conhecem sobre os direitos de cidadania

This is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach. It aimed at apprehending what users undergoing treatment at a mental health service know about their rights. A semistructured interview was used as a data collection strategy. Five users were interviewed. Thematic content analysis was used for data analysis, and three categories emerged: process of falling ill, experiences of treatment and users’ rights. The users reported voluntary and involuntary hospitalization experiences and that, after treatment commencement at the psychosocial care center, they perceived significant changes in mental health care. They reported that they did not know the mental health legislation, but they knew about the rights stemming from experiencing mental disorder. For users to be able to recognize and take advantage of their citizens’ rights, awareness must be developed by health care professionals, which also includes their academic education

A atividade física na saúde mental: uma revisão de literatura

Ao longo da história, a doença mental passou por diversos períodos de críticas relações com a própria humanidade, exposta à vulnerabilidade dos mitos e pré-concepções que motivaram a perseguição e segregação daqueles seres humanos qualificados como “insanos”. No Brasil, as primeiras intervenções específicas de atendimento à doença mental só ocorreram a partir da segunda metade do século 19. Atualmente a doença mental representa um dos maiores gastos da rede do SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde) (Ministério da Saúde do Brasil, 1999). Nas últimas décadas, a fim de diminuir o tempo de internação e o gasto com medicamentos, um conjunto de iniciativas surgiu como forma de transformar a compreensão cultural e a relação da sociedade com as pessoas que apresentam transtornos mentais. Dentre as novas propostas humanizadoras de atendimento, a educação física e, particularmente, o exercício, vieram mostrar sua contribuição nessa área. Para Silva (1995), a atividade física acarreta uma complexa rede de reações bioenergéticas no organismo e essas acabam por melhorar o rendimento físico e mental dos pacientes nas atividades de vida diária. Tendo em vista a relevância da intervenção através da atividade física no campo da doença mental, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar resultados dos estudos que demonstraram os benefícios da atividade física para indivíduos com transtornos psiquiátricos, considerando os aspectos fisiológicos e emocionais dos mesmos, através de revisão da literatura científica. A inserção da Família nos serviços de Saúde Mental: uma revisão sistemática da Literatura

It is a systematic literature review, wich aimed to analyze documents, as is the inclusion of the family in Mental Health Services. To do so was based on a literature in the database of the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS). And the documents were selected from the question which funded the research to evaluate the contribution of scientific research published in journals in the period 2000 to 2011. Data analysis reveals that the government's efforts in having the family as an ally, not a recent phenomenon. But this is a process that depends not only on government, also depends on the professionals involved and of their own families, and other factors. It is concluded that much remains to be done, both in terms of research for the topic, the actions in the reality of such a process

Medicalização em um serviço público de Saúde Mental: um estudo sobre a prescrição de psicofármacos

News of the fifth version of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) bringing an enlarged listing of diagnostic possibilities has fomented discussion concerning the tendency, recognizable in contemporary psychiatric practices, of including ordinary suffering of everyday life in psychiatric diagnosis and submit same to psychopharmacological treatment. The present paper brings to this discussion data obtained from field research about the prescription of psychopharmacs in the psychiatric care of a public mental health service. The results reveal that the psychiatry of the service keeps practically all of its users under prescription, and that medical discharge is extremely rare. The paper organizes elements critical to this practice and concludes that due to its inadequacy as to the objectives of promotion of personalized care concerned with autonomy and citizenship, present in the current national guidelines for public policies in mental health.

Insanity was victim of several arbitrary acts perpetrated on behalf of the science. Psychiatric reform constitues an important movement which has attempted to rescue dignity and humanity in the treatment of mental disorder patients. Some countries have advanced in the implement of substutive models that work on the construction of a new social place for madness. The model of attention to mental health in Brazil has also suffered extensive modifications due to the wearing out of the psychiatric hospital model. In Santos, a town in the State of Sao Paulo, we have found a landmark in the development of an anti internment politics, through the creation of a dail care service, including psychosocial assistance. It is in this context that it has been founded in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, the NAPS and CAPS ( Nucleus and Centres of Psychosocial Attention), municipal strategies that put into effect the law # 10.216/2001, which estabilishes the gradual extinction of psychiatric hospitals. This work has the purpose of carrying out a study about the historical process of psychiatric reform implantation in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, emphasizing the actors involved in process, their trajectory, achievements, improvements, and the movement s perspectives of achieving the ideal of reinstating mental disorder patients. In order to accomplish this purpose, it was necessary to understand the process occurred at the Municipal Secretary s Office for Health, since 1992, for it was the impelling experience towards the reflections about the psychiatric reform in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. The instruments used for this work were documentary analysis, through reports, legislation and handbooks, as well as the staments of people involved in this process. Through the statements analysis, we attempted to estabilish the social actors identity, their perception, emphasizing congruences and incongruences concerning the history of psychiatric reform in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. It is also analyzed the contribution of Psychology in this process, which has become a protagonist in the struggle for the rights of mental disorder patients
