In most cases, the cost of a control system increases based on its complexity. Proportional (P) controller is the simplest and most intuitive structure for the implementation of linear control systems. The difficulty to find the stability range of feedback systems with P controllers, using the Routh-Hurwitz criterion, increases with the order of the plant. For high order plants, the stability range cannot be easily obtained from the investigation of the coefficient signs in the first column of the Routh's array. A direct method for the determination of the stability range is presented. The method is easy to understand, to compute, and to offer the students a better comprehension on this subject. A program in MATLAB language, based on the proposed method, design examples, and class assessments, is provided in order to help the pedagogical issues. The method and the program enable the user to specify a decay rate and also extend to proportional-integral (PI), proportional-derivative (PD), and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers.

Today, the trend within the electronics industry is for the use of rapid and advanced simulation methodologies in association with synthesis toolsets. This paper presents an approach developed to support mixed-signal circuit design and analysis. The methodology proposed shows a novel approach to the problem of developing behvioural model descriptions of mixed-signal circuit topologies, by construction of a set of subsystems, that supports the automated mapping of MATLAB (R)/SINIULINK (R) models to structural VHDL-AMS descriptions. The tool developed, named (MSSV)-S-2, reads a SIMULINK (R) model file and translates it to a structural VHDL-AMS code. It also creates the file structure required to simulate the translated model in the SystemVision (TM). To validate the methodology and the developed program, the DAC08, AD7524 and AD5450 data converters were studied and initially modelled in MATLAB (R)/SIMULINK (R). The VHDL-AMS code generated automatically by (MSSV)-S-2, (MATLAB (R)/SIMULINK (R) to SystemVision (TM)), was then simulated in the SystemVision (TM). The simulation results show that the proposed approach, which is based on VHDL-AMS descriptions of the original model library elements, allows for the behavioural level simulation of complex mixed-signal circuits.

Matlab, one of the most used numerical computing environments in the world of research and teaching, has among its many tools a specific one for digital image processing. This digital image processing toolbox consists of a set of additional functions that extend the power of the digital environment of Matlab and allow to execute a large number of operations of digital image processing directly through the main program. However, despite the fact that MATLAB has a good help section both online and within the main program, the available bibliography is very limited in Castilian and is negligible and highly specialized in the particular case of the image processing toolbox, being necessary a strong background in mathematics and digital image processing. Starting from an analysis of all the available functions and possibilities in the program tool, the document will classify, summarize and explain each function at user level, defining all input and output variables possible, describing common tasks in which each feature is used, comparing results and providing illustrative examples to help understand its use and application. In addition, the reader will be introduced in the general use of Matlab explaining the essential operations within the program and clarifying the most advanced concepts of the toolbox so that an extensive prior formation will not be necessary. Thus, any student or teacher who wants to start digital image processing with Matlab will have a document that will serve to check and understand the operation of any function of the toolbox and also to implement the most recurrent operations in digital image processing.

ABSTRACT This Project comes from a program used in the labs of the subject Antennas and Electromagnetic Compatibility in the sixth semester called SABOR, which aims to be updated in order to any type of computer running a Windows operating systems(Windows 7 and subsequent versions). The main objectives are design and improve existing functionalities and develop new features. In addition, we will correct mistakes in earlier versions. For a better understanding a new custom tool using MATLAB environment has been created to analyze one of the most common types of apertura antenna which is used for the moment, horns. This tool is a graphical interface that has elementary design variables as a inputs, for example: Dimensions of the own horn or common general parameters of all horns. At the same time, the software generate us some of the fundamental parameters of antennas output like Directivity, Beamwidth, Phase centre and Spillover. This software has been performed numerous tests for the proper functioning of the Software and we have been cared in order to debug and correct errors that were detected in earlier versions of SABOR. In addition, it has also been emphasized the program's functionality in order to be more intuitive and avoiding unnecessary barriers or complexities. The type of antenna that we are going to study is the horn which consists of a waveguides which the section area has been gradually increasing to an open-ended, that behaves as an aperture. It is widely used in comercial satellites for global coverage from geostationary orbits. However, the most common use is radiating element for antenna reflectors. The types of horns which is going to be considered are: Rectangular H-plane sectorial, Rectangular E-plane sectorial, Rectangular Pyramidal, Circular, Corrugated Circular and Corrugated Pyramidal. The Project is developed so that it can be used as practical-theorical information around the SABOR software. Therefore, In addition to thoroughly reviewing the theory document of analyzed horns, it display information related to the object-oriented programming in MATLAB environment whose goal leads us to a new way of thinking about the process of decomposition of problems and solutions development programming. Finally, it has been created a self-help manual in order to support the software and has been included the results of different tests to observe all the details of their operations, as well as the conclusions and future action lines.

The first is theoretical, it performed; by way of introduction, a study on digital image processing, developing the main treatment techniques and image analysis we were able to study along our career. Once shelled analysis we will focus on digital image correlation, evolution and different techniques, where we focus on normalized cross-correlation which we use later for the correlation of images with Matlab. The second part is the implementation of a simple program using Matlab where we can evaluate and analyze the differences between two or more images and can graphically see the deviation in millimeters between various images and their direction vectors. Then we analyze the results and propose possible improvements for future projects correlation of digital images.

To investigate the effects of a specific protocol of undulatory physical resistance training on maximal strength gains in elderly type 2 diabetics. The study included 48 subjects, aged between 60 and 85 years, of both genders. They were divided into two groups: Untrained Diabetic Elderly (n=19) with those who were not subjected to physical training and Trained Diabetic Elderly (n=29), with those who were subjected to undulatory physical resistance training. The participants were evaluated with several types of resistance training's equipment before and after training protocol, by test of one maximal repetition. The subjects were trained on undulatory resistance three times per week for a period of 16 weeks. The overload used in undulatory resistance training was equivalent to 50% of one maximal repetition and 70% of one maximal repetition, alternating weekly. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences (p<0.05) between pre-test and post-test over a period of 16 weeks. The average gains in strength were 43.20% (knee extension), 65.00% (knee flexion), 27.80% (supine sitting machine), 31.00% (rowing sitting), 43.90% (biceps pulley), and 21.10% (triceps pulley). Undulatory resistance training used with weekly different overloads was effective to provide significant gains in maximum strength in elderly type 2 diabetic individuals.

This work approaches the forced air cooling of strawberry by numerical simulation. The mathematical model that was used describes the process of heat transfer, based on the Fourier's law, in spherical coordinates and simplified to describe the one-dimensional process. For the resolution of the equation expressed for the mathematical model, an algorithm was developed based on the explicit scheme of the numerical method of the finite differences and implemented in the scientific computation program MATLAB 6.1. The validation of the mathematical model was made by the comparison between theoretical and experimental data, where strawberries had been cooled with forced air. The results showed to be possible the determination of the convective heat transfer coefficient by fitting the numerical and experimental data. The methodology of the numerical simulations was showed like a promising tool in the support of the decision to use or to develop equipment in the area of cooling process with forced air of spherical fruits.

The physical model was based on the method of Newton-Euler. The model was developed by using the scientific computer program Mathematica®. Several simulations where tried varying the progress speeds (0.69; 1.12; 1.48; 1.82 and 2.12 m s-1); soil profiles (sinoidal, ascending and descending ramp) and height of the profile (0.025 and 0.05 m) to obtain the normal force of soil reaction. After the initial simulations, the mechanism was optimized using the scientific computer program Matlab® having as criterion (function-objective) the minimization of the normal force of reaction of the profile (FN). The project variables were the lengths of the bars (L1y, L2, l3 and L4), height of the operation (L7), the initial length of the spring (Lmo) and the elastic constant of the spring (k t). The lack of robustness of the mechanism in relation to the variable height of the operation was outlined by using a spring with low rigidity and large length. The results demonstrated that the mechanism optimized showed better flotation performance in relation to the initial mechanism.

A base-cutter represented for a mechanism of four bars, was developed using the Autocad program. The normal force of reaction of the profile in the contact point was determined through the dynamic analysis. The equations of dynamic balance were based on the laws of Newton-Euler. The linkage was subject to an optimization technique that considered the peak value of soil reaction force as the objective function to be minimized while the link lengths and the spring constant varied through a specified range. The Algorithm of Sequential Quadratic Programming-SQP was implemented of the program computational Matlab. Results were very encouraging; the maximum value of the normal reaction force was reduced from 4,250.33 to 237.13 N, making the floating process much less disturbing to the soil and the sugarcane rate. Later, others variables had been incorporated the mechanism optimized and new otimization process was implemented .
