Se disea, aplica y evala un modelo integral de las asignaturas de Fsica I y II, correspondientes al primer ao de la Titulacin de Ingeniera Industrial, para que mejore la calidad del proceso de enseanza-aprendizaje. Se mejora la calidad en la enseanza a travs de la cooperacin entre la universidades y el fomento de la movilidad de los estudiantes. Por ello se necesita que los profesores comiencen a adaptar las asignaturas que imparten a los planteamientos del Sistema Europeo de Transferencia de Crditos. Se abordan las carencias que la enseanza pre-universitaria tiene en habilidades de comunicacin pblica, elaboracin de informes o el trabajo en grupo. Se fomenta una educacin de calidad y una mejora en de los resultados acadmicos con la disminucin del fracaso escolar y el absentismo. Se utiliza una metodologa que combina la enseanza presencial, la realizacin de trabajos personales y la evaluacin con exmenes a travs de la red, junto con diversas herramientas de autoevaluacin durante el proceso de enseanza-aprendizaje.

El presente estudio tiene dos vocaciones de fondo: por un lado, ofrecer una descripcin del mercado de carbono, de sus caractersticas, logros y potencial para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero -responsables del cambio climtico- y para generar recursos; por otro lado, brindar un anlisis de las posibilidades de aprovechamiento del Ecuador con respecto al Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio (MDL/CDM), una de las novedosas herramientas ideadas en el contexto del Protocolo de Kyoto para impulsar la lucha al cambio climtico a travs de incentivos econmicos y e instrumentos que cuesten lo menos posible a las economas; Con respecto al primer bloque del estudio, el anlisis se centra en el EU ETS, el esquema europeo de compraventa de certificados de carbono, que actualmente lidera el 70% de las transacciones mundiales del CO2. Despus de un previo anlisis del mismo, el presente trabajo pretende realizar un rpido diagnstico de los retos y oportunidades que se presentan para el pas andino con respecto a este ingenioso mercado, ms concretamente, con respecto al Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio, ideado justamente para involucrar a los pases en desarrollo. La idea de fondo es que, a travs de los recursos liberados por los certificados de carbono asociados a la realizacin exitosa de los proyectos MDL, los PED emprendan su desarrollo econmico y social, realizando al mismo tiempo una gradual transicin hacia una economa pos petrolera, que apueste a tecnologas limpias y que margine las prcticas contaminantes segn el escenario de Business as Usual. As, el objetivo para una provechosa participacin del Ecuador es crear un ambiente prospero que atraiga proyectos del tipo MDL; propagar el conocimiento de las reglas del juego en este novedoso contexto internacional, y finalmente, aprovechar las dinmicas y sinergias que se generen para su desarrollo econmico y social.

Drawing on discussions within a CEPS Task Force on the revised EU emissions trading system, this report provides a comprehensive assessment of the pros and cons of the various measures put forward by different stakeholders to address the level and stability of the price of carbon in the EU. It argues that the European Commission, the member states, the European Parliament and other stakeholders need to give serious consideration to introducing some kind of dynamic adjustment provision to address the relatively inelastic supply. The report also suggests that there is a need to improve communication of market-sensitive information, for example by leaving the management of the ETS to a specialised body.

A survey against the draft genome sequence and the cDNA/EST database of Ciona intestinalis identified a number of genes encoding transcription factors regulating a variety of processes including development. In the present study, we describe almost complete sets of genes for Fox, ETS-domain transcription factors, nuclear receptors, and NFkappaB as well as other factors regulating NFkappaB activity, with their phylogenetic nature. Vertebrate Fox transcription factors are currently delineated into 17 subfamilies: FoxA to FoxQ. The present survey yielded 29 genes of this family in the Ciona genome, 24 of which were Ciona orthologues of known Fox genes. In addition, we found 15 ETS aenes, 17 nuclear receptor genes, and several NFkappaB signaling pathway genes in the Ciona genome. The number of Ciona genes in each family is much smaller than that of vertebrates, which represents a simplified feature of the ascidian genome. For example, humans have two NFkappaB genes, three Rel genes, and five NFAT genes, while Ciona has one gene for each family. The Ciona genome also contains smaller numbers of genes for the NFkappaB regulatory system, i.e. after the split of ascidians/vertebrates, vertebrates evolved a more complex NFkappaB system. The present results therefore provide molecular information for the investigation of complex developmental processes, and an insight into chordate evolution.

[EN]Respiratory electron transport system (ETS) activities have been used, in the past, to study respiration in many marine organisms and many different environments. The methodology follows standard practices of enzymology, by attempting to measure the maximum velocity of the enzyme reaction (Vmax) sensu Michaelis-Menten. Under controlled conditions of nutritional state the ETS method is well correlated with in situ respiration. In the interdisciplinary Expedition MALASPINA 2010, that circumnavigated the planet, we had the chance in three of seven transects (Cape Town to Perth; Perth to Sydney and Cartagena de Indias to Cartagena) to take zooplankton samples from the southern Indian Ocean and from North Atlantic Ocean. From these samples we measured protein and 150 ratios between in vivo respiration and potential respiration (ETS activity) in three size-classes of zooplankton between 100?m to > 1000?m, in the upper 150 meters of the water column. Normally, the measurements were made on fresh naturally nourished zooplankton (in situ). When biomass permitted, measurements were also made on zooplankton starved for 24 h. With this data we are investigating the variations in the R/ETS ratio and Kleiber?s law under different nutritional conditions, different oceanographic conditions, and different oceanographic regions. This analysis will help our ongoing investigation of ETS activity as an index of both respiration and of living biomass. The information acquired will facilitate the calculation of zooplankton respiration for some relatively unexplored areas of the Indian and Atlantic oceans. This data will then be available for integration with results of other Malaspina research programs
