This analysis on the ambient licensing is based on a research that identifies the fragilities and advances of the application of this instrument of politics of the environment in the ambient politics of the Rio Grande do Norte, in the period of 1992 the 2003. The isolated urban area of Búzios, situated in the City of Nísia Floresta/RN, situated in the eastern coast of the State, where concentrates the boarding of the ambient question as a matter in the Brazilian process of urbanization, over all the institutionalization and implementation of the ambient licensing. They are distinguished in the used methodology in consultation to the diverse involved social segments with the ambient subject in study, the example of the managers, technician and specialists, as well as the application of the legislation and norms techniques, the forms of appropriation of the common wealth and the procedures of ambient licensing of the competent agencies. The results of the research designate that the ambient licensing while instrument of the ambient politics is one of the alternatives more efficient as techniques in the process of sustainable development, since it is beyond the prerogatives to conciliate the activities and enterprises with the conservation of the environmental resources and natural benefits to the societies. In the RN one evidenced progress in the ambient legislation and the instructions techniques, and that the imperfections and limitations in the system of ambient licensing are not directly on to the instruments, but in the implementation of mechanisms of the ambient agencies. This because they do not make use of operational structure to apply in practical and established abilities, as an ambient management, institutional joint and deliberations of the State Counselor for Environment

The environmental management in the health establishments is a reality still little explored in the health sector in Brazil, especially concerning its wastes. The management of wastes of health services is established in the valid legislation through the National Council of Environment and Sanitary Vigilance Agency (358/2005 and 304/2004 respectively). The present work is about a descriptive work about the environmental health in the health services. The used criterion was to diagnose the environmental management in twelve establishments of health inserted in the three levels of complexity of the Unique Health System (Sistema Ùnico de Saúde SUS). Among the sub criteria used the waste management is the one of bigger concern. The one referring to the water quality is considered good. The analysis of data reveals that 66% of the establishments got a poor environmental ranking, 17% critical and 17% appropriate, showing that the health establishments in the three levels of complexity of the SUS need urgent structural, environmental and educational interventions

Essa dissertação aborda a gestão de resíduos sólidos urbanos domiciliares em Belém, seu tratamento e a possibilidade de geração de renda através da reciclagem de resíduos sólidos. Com o intuito de entender a gestão de resíduos sólidos e um mercado de reciclagem na cidade Belém essa dissertação analisou a atual estrutura de gestão de resíduos e o trabalho de coleta seletiva realizado pela Prefeitura Municipal de Belém (PMB). Também serão objetos de estudo nesse trabalho a Legislação que trata sobre questões especificas dos resíduos sólidos, estabelecida com a Política de Resíduos Sólidos, através do Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente (CONAMA) na qual destacamos, a atual Política Nacional de Gestão de Resíduos Sólidos. Partiu-se do pressuposto de que em Belém a diferença entre resíduos gerados e resíduos introduzidos no processo de reciclagem é muito grande, dessa forma a produtividade dos processos de reciclagem é insuficiente. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir de dados da Secretaria Estadual de Meio Ambiente (SEMA), da Secretaria Municipal de Saneamento (SESAN), da Secretaria Municipal de Coordenação e Gestão de Projetos (SEGEP) e do Departamento Municipal de Resíduos Sólidos (DRES), assim como, por meio da aplicação de questionários e entrevistas com agentes envolvidos na cadeia de reciclagem. A partir da analise realizada para a dissertação constatou-se que a gestão de resíduos na cidade ainda é deficiente, a pesquisa realizada mostra que há apenas dois bairros de Belém atendidos pela coleta seletiva domiciliar, que o aterro sanitário da cidade está funcionando com sua capacidade de suporte exaurida e que dessa forma a prefeitura municipal esta muito longe de enquadrar-se nos padrões da nova Política Nacional de Gestão de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS.

A contaminação de rios com metais pesados vêm aumentando nas últimas décadas em resposta ao crescimento do setor industrial e seus dejetos, que frequentemente são despejados no ambiente sem que o tratamento adequado seja realizado. As implicações ambientais da contaminação dos ecossistemas naturais de água doce com níquel ainda são mal compreendidas, entretanto, a demanda global por este metal e as descargas antrópicas provenientes do setor industrial só aumentam. Embora o níquel não seja considerado altamente tóxico como outros metais, ele tem a capacidade de ser bioacumulativo e é, portanto, potencialmente perigoso para os peixes. Assim, é importante que seja desenvolvida uma compreensão mais profunda da fisiologia básica do níquel em peixes, tanto como um nutriente essencial quanto como um agente tóxico. Desse modo, o presente estudo teve como objetivo a análise do potencial genotóxico e mutagênico do níquel em peixes da espécie Oreochromis niloticus (Cichlidae), e a comparação das concentrações utilizadas deste metal nos bioensaios com a concentração limite, estabelecida pelo Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente (CONAMA). A resolução 357/05 do CONAMA, para controlar e taxar os limites máximos de contaminantes na água define que o limite máximo da concentração total de níquel permitida em corpos de água doce é de 0,025 mg/L Ni. Assim, os organismos-teste foram expostos a três diferentes concentrações de cloreto de níquel diluído, sendo que, a primeira concentração foi de 0,0125 mg/L, ou seja, metade da concentração máxima definida pelo CONAMA. A segunda concentração utilizada, 0,025 mg/L é o próprio limite de concentração estabelecido pela resolução. Por fim, a terceira concentração utilizada foi de 0,050 mg/L, que consiste no dobro da concentração máxima total de níquel permitida em corpos de água doce... A expansão urbana acarreta a necessidade de mitigações ambientais, em que um planejamento do uso do solo, bem como seu processo de ocupação traz a necessidade também de estudos para viabilizar tais ações. Nesse processo de expansão, os cemitérios necessitam de maiores atenções, já que evidenciaram indícios de contaminações no solo e fontes de água próximas. Atualmente, o CONAMA (Conselho Nacional de Meio Ambiente) possui duas resoluções que discorrem sobre os aspectos construtivos, visando controlar os resíduos existentes, tais como o Liquame da Coliquação (também conhecido por Necrochorume), um dos responsáveis pela contaminação do solo e aquíferos subterrâneos. Tendo esse escopo em pauta, este trabalho exibe um levantamento da legislação que incide sobre a implantação e regularização de cemitérios no estado de São Paulo.

Garanhuns City, in Pernambuco, undergoes a rapid, polluting and non-organized urban development affecting its freshwater springs around the urban environment. These sources are of great importance to the district as well as to the hydrographic basin of the Mundaú River. In this view, this paper aims at analyzing the socio-environmental problems resulting from the urban expansion surrounding the Garanhuns’ sources. The study considers the social and environmental dynamics and follows the theoretical contributions of socio-environmental geography proposed by Mendonça’s Urban Environmental System methodological and theoretical model (2004), as well as the conceptual values of Santos’ space theory (2002a). The data treatment included bibliographical and documental research, evaluation of environmental impact, and water analysis. It revealed that Garanhuns possesses many local environmental traits favoring the coming out of freshwater springs and that these sources have played an important role in the making and development of that village. The environmental impacts on freshwater springs, like Olho D’água, Bom Pastor, Vila Maria, Pau Amarelo and Pau Pombo have been evaluated through the environmental impact score IIAN. It put alight serious cases of socio-environmental impacts on the dynamics of the freshwater springs. In the period of April 2013 and April 2014, it monitored the superficial water quality expelled by the Pau Pombo, Pau Amarelo e Vila Maria water sources, and the analyses of the contents followed the determinations of the Environmental National Board, whose parameters are dissolved oxygen, biochemical demand of oxygen, nitrate, total coliforms, faecal coliforms, and electrical conductivity. The results recollected suggest the existence of organic pollution and deep alteration in the water coming out from the sources. In consequence, it seems important the putting out of measures destined to stop those impacts and guaranteeing protection and maintenance of the freshwater springs and their micro-basins.
