La formation du sujet dans la philosophie féministe de Judith Butler

Dans Trouble dans le genre, Judith Butler conteste l’aspect identitaire du féminisme, qui selon elle produirait de nouvelles possibilités d’exclusion, basées sur la catégorie même de « femme ». Je ne contesterai pas le mouvement qu’elle adopte, à savoir que la sexualité informe du genre, qui produit le sexe, bien que j’exposerai les difficultés que cela soulève. Mon intérêt se situe dans la vision que Butler a de la formation des sujets individuels et de leur rattachement à des identités collectives, via la performativité du genre. Sa position voulant que le genre soit un acte et l’identité une pratique, je vais expliquer comment elle conçoit l’humain constitué par ses actes et critiquer, avec deux auteures féministes, sa conception du genre. J’en conclurai que Butler doit admettre qu’une forme d’identité féminine soit nécessaire au féminisme tout en tenant compte de son plaidoyer d’inclusion des individus aux sexualités marginales.

El siguiente texto rastrea el uso del pensamiento de Foucault en las principales obras de Judith Butler. En ese sentido, no se abarca una exposición sistemática y exhaustiva de la obra de Butler o de las lecturas y críticas feministas que se han realizado del análisis foucaultiano. Este escrito es una indagación de la matriz foucaultiana en Butler, cuestionándose ¿qué impacto genera la obra de Foucault en el pensamiento de Butler? ¿Continúa Butler el “proyecto” foucaultiano? ¿En qué aspectos se asocian y en cuáles se distancian ambos autores? Sin duda, Judith Butler a lo largo de sus textos retoma y reelabora, comparte y se distancia del pensamiento foucaultiano. En no pocas ocasiones sus textos se dedican a entablar un diálogo, incluso, existen puntos de encuentro entre los temas profundos que estudian ambos como lo son la cuestión del poder, la sexualidad y, en la última etapa de los dos, un giro ético.

The rejuvenation of tourism in Barbados 1993-2003 - Reflections on the Butler model

This article examines how Barbados as a mature resort destination has set about rejuvenating its tourism product since the early 1990s, when the number of stop-over tourist arrivals showed year-on-year declines. This has been achieved in three principal ways: the extensive upgrading of existing hotel facilities, especially at the luxury end of the market: the increase of overall tourist capacity, and the development of niche markets, especially golf tourism. At both the outset and the conclusion, the rejuvenation of tourism in Barbados between 1993 and 2003 is viewed in light of Butler's (1980) model of resort-cycle development.

Judith Butler's postmodern existentialism : a critical analysis

Bucher ascertains that Butler's description of the temporalized process of structuration, which seeks to avoid recourse to political voluntarism, or the sovereign intentionality of the autonomous individual, yields powerful insights into social identity. He asserts further that Butler's description of the dominant heterosexual culture in terms of melancholia, and her insights into the structures of repetition and difference that make up the social conventions that produce cultural norms, represent important resources in thinking about contemporary cultural conflicts.
