Then aim of this thesis is to investigate children's culture in the regional cultural centres of Helsinki, namely Stoa, Malmitalo and Kanneltalo. The main objective was to identify how the center's repertoire for children forms. Moreover, a further research question was how different fields of art as well as proposals for action defined by the Children's Culture Programme, are portrayed in the repertoire of the regional cultural centres. The Ministry of Education's missions are to plan cultural and artistic policies, to support the industry financially, and to prepare cultural legislation. The Ministry promotes children's culture with a variety of programs and projects. The basis of the thesis is formed by the Finnish Ministry of Education's Children's Culture Programme, published in 2003. The goal of the programme is to give direction to the promotion of children's culture from 2003 to 2007. The programme presented proposals for action in different fields of art that are directed towards a broad range of implementors. In addition, in the theoretical section the focus is on the research of the Ministry of Education, the Art Council of Finland and the Municipalities. The research investigates the roles in children's culture as well as the activities of regional cultural centers. The qualitative analysis has been conducted by interviewing the employees of these regional cultural centers. The factors that affect and hinder the composition of the children's programme's repertoire are analysed based on the results of the interviews. The factors that affect the composition are the supply, the facilities and the possibilities provided by cooperation. The results section examines how the Children's Cultural Programme presents different fields of art. What is also taken into account is focal points connected to them, the proposals for action when building the repertoire. The results of the interviews indicate that the repertoire of the regional cultural centres is very diverse and it often meets the propositions of the children's cultural programme. However, the contents of the program were unknown for many. Various fields of art have been catered for in the children's repertoire and the supply is of good quality. The City of Helsinki Cultural Office's upcoming change in the administration was also mentioned, as the interviewees contemplated its future effects.

Ilmanvaihtokoneen ohjauksen taloudellisuusvaikutukset

Tämän insinöörityön tarkoituksena oli luoda Insinööritoimisto Olof Granlund Oy:lle malliprojekti ilmanvaihtokoneen ohjauksen mahdollisesta sähköenergian säästöpotentiaalista. Insinöörityötä voidaan myöhemmin käyttää referenssinä tarjottaessa yrityksen palvelua asiakkaille energiakatselmointityössä kiinteistöihin, joissa on suuria ilmanvaihtokone-yksiköitä. Ensin työssä esitellään käytössä olevat, tutkittavat ilmanvaihtokoneet ja niiden toiminta. Sitten selvitetään ilmanvaihtolaitteiden ja niiden ohjauksen eri osien toiminta, sekä ohjausinformaatio, joka välittyy eri laitteiden välillä. Seuraavaksi työssä tutkitaan rakennusautomaation osuutta, sen hyötyä ja rakennetta kiinteistössä. Tämän jälkeen selvitetään hankkeen viranomaismääräykset. Sitten selvitetään, mistä koostuvat kustannukset ilmanvaihtokoneen ohjauksen uusimisessa. Lopuksi vielä tutkitaan, kuinka pitkä on tehtävän investoinnin takaisinmaksuaika, sekä mitkä ovat saneerauksen hiilidioksidi-päästövaikutukset. insinöörityön Lopputuloksena syntyi yrityksen sisäinen kansio. Influence of the primary cleft palate closure on the future need for orthognathic surgery in unilateral cleft lip and palate patients

RESUME : Introduction : L'objectif de cette étude est de déterminer l'influence de la dissection du palais lors de la chirurgie primaire et le type de chirurgie orthognathique requise chez les patients porteurs d'une séquelle de fente labio-maxillo-palatine unilatérale complète Méthode : Cette revue porte sur 58 enfants nés avec une fente labio-maxillo-palatine complète unilatérale et traités entre 1994 et 2008 à Page approprié pour une chirurgie orthognathique. C'est une étude rétrospective longitudinale mixte. Les patients avec des syndromes ou anomalies associées ont été exclus. Tous les patients ont été traités parle même orthodontiste et par la même équipe chirurgicale. Les enfants sont divisés en deux groupes; le premier comprend les patients avec une chirurgie primaire du palais conventionnelle, avec un décollement extensif de la fibro-muqueuse palatine. Le deuxième groupe comprend les patients opérés selon le protocole de Malek. Le palais mou est fermé a |'âge de trois mois, le palais dur à |'âge de six mois, avec un décollement minimal de la tibro-muqueuse palatine. Les radiographies du crâne de profil ainsi que les données chirurgicales ont été comparées. Résultats: La nécessité d'une chirurgie orthognathique est plus élevée dans le premier groupe par rapport au deuxième (60% versus 47,8%). Concernant le type de chirurgie orthognathique réalisé, des ostéotomies Lefort I en deux ou trois pièces ou des ostéotomies bi-maxillaires ont aussi été plus fréquentes dans le premier groupe Conclusion : La chirurgie primaire du palais selon le protocole de Malek améliore le pronostic des patients avec une fente labio-maxillo-palatine. Avec un décollement minimal de la fibro-muqueuse palatine, le nombre d'interventions de chirurgie orthognathique a été diminué. Lorsque ces opérations étaient néanmoins indiquées, elles étaient simplifiées.

The 81st General Assembly of the Iowa Legislature, in Section 85 of House File 868, required the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to conduct a study of current Road Use Tax Fund (RUTF)revenues, and projected roadway construction and maintenance needs.

Fenofibrate: a new treatment for diabetic retinopathy. Molecular mechanisms and future perspectives.

Despite improving standards of care, people with diabetes remain at risk of development and progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and visual impairment. Identifying novel therapeutic approaches, preferably targeting more than one pathogenic pathway in DR, and at an earlier stage of disease, is attractive. There is now consistent evidence from two major trials, the Fenofibrate Intervention and Event Lowering in Diabetes (FIELD) study and the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes Eye (ACCORD-Eye) study, totalling 11,388 people with type 2 diabetes (5,701 treated with fenofibrate) that fenofibrate reduces the risk of development and progression of DR. Therefore, fenofibrate may be considered a preventive strategy for patients without DR or early intervention strategy for those with mild DR. A number of putative therapeutic mechanisms for fenofibrate, both dependent and independent of lipids, have been proposed. A deeper understanding of the mode of action of fenofibrate will further help to define how best to use fenofibrate clinically as an adjunct to current management of DR.

With input from Iowa’s cities, counties and other interested groups, the Iowa DOT completed this report for submittal to the legislature.

However, the stream is also full of opportunity. The opportunity to improve water quality not only for the aquatic life and wildlife that live there, but also to pass along clean water to future generations of Iowans. Brushy Creek Lake: Improving Our Lake for the Future, 2006

While the quality of water in Brushy Creek Lake is currently adequate, a number of factors in the watershed (the surrounding area that drains into the lake) could put that water quality at risk. Sediment from the large watershed could fill in the lake and affect water clarity. Nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, could cause algae blooms and other problems. Without preventative measures, potential manure and chemical spills could harm aquatic life in the lake. Using conservation farming practices and building structures like wetlands will work to maintain and even improve the lake’s water quality. Taking steps now to implement these critical practices will help prevent water quality problems, preserving water quality for future generations.
