Scalar form factors and nuclear interactions

The scalar-isoscalar term in the two-pion exchange NN potential is abnormally large and does not respect the hierarchy of effects predicted by chiral perturbation theory. We argue that this anomaly is associated with non-perturbative effects, which are also present in the pi N scalar form factor.

Cathepsin X cleaves the beta 2 cytoplasmic tail of LFA-1 inducing the intermediate affinity form of LFA-1 and alpha-actinin-1 binding

The motility of T cells depends on the dynamic spatial regulation of integrin-mediated adhesion and de-adhesion. Cathepsin X, a cysteine protease, has been shown to regulate T-cell migration by interaction with lymphocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1). LFA-1 adhesion to the ICAM-1 is controlled by the association of actin-binding proteins with the cytoplasmic tail of the beta(2) chain of LFA-1. Cleavage by cathepsin X of the amino acid residues S(769), E(768) and A(767) from the C-terminal of the beta(2) cytoplasmic tail of LFA-1 is shown to promote binding of the actin-binding protein alpha-actinin-1. Furthermore, cathepsin X overexpression reduced LFA-1 clustering and induced an intermediate affinity LFA-1 conformation that is known to associate with a-actinin-1. increased levels of intermediate affinity LFA-1 resulted in augmented cell spreading due to reduced attachment of T cells to the ICAM-1-coated surface. Gradual cleavage of LFA-1 by cathepsin X enables the transition between intermediate and high affinity LFA-1, an event that is crucial for effective T-cell migration.

A canonical form for nonderogatory matrices under unitary similarity

A square matrix is nonderogatory if its Jordan blocks have distinct eigenvalues. We give canonical forms for (1) nonderogatory complex matrices up to unitary similarity, and (2) pairs of complex matrices up to similarity, in which one matrix has distinct eigenvalues. In this paper, we study the Reidemeister spectrum for metabelian groups of the form Q(n) x Z and Z[1/p](n) x Z. Particular attention is given to the R(infinity)-property of a subfamily of these groups.

Thermal analysis and compatibility studies of prednicarbate with excipients used in semi solid pharmaceutical form

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) techniques were used to investigate the compatibility between prednicarbate and several excipients commonly used in semi solid pharmaceutical form. The thermoanalytical studies of 1:1 (m/m) drug/excipient physical mixtures showed that the beginning of the first thermal decomposition stage of the prednicarbate (T (onset) value) was decreased in the presence of stearyl alcohol and glyceryl stearate compared to the drug alone. For the binary mixture of drug/sodium pirrolidone carboxilate the first thermal decomposition stage was not changed, however the DTG peak temperature (T (peak DTG)) decreased. The comparison of the IR spectra of the drug, the physical mixtures and of the thermally treated samples confirmed the thermal decomposition of prednicarbate. By the comparison of the thermal profiles of 1:1 prednicarbate:excipients mixtures (methylparaben, propylparaben, carbomer 940, acrylate crosspolymer, lactic acid, light liquid paraffin, isopropyl palmitate, myristyl lactate and cetyl alcohol) no interaction was observed.

Marknadsundersökning för företaget hp gällande deras nya koncept, Skylta.nu

Föreliggande rapport har som syfte att uttyda om det finns ett behov hos marknaden för företaget hp;s koncept, skylta.nu, som innebär att mindre butiker själva ska kunna framställa eget skyltmaterial. För att få underlag för rapporten har en undersökning om företaget hp och deras nya koncept gjorts samt en fördjupning i ämnet marknadsundersökning.Marknadsundersökningen utfördes i form av en enkät och djupgående intervjuer till målgruppen. Målgruppen är satt som mindre butiker i hela landet. För att marknadsundersökningen skall vara möjlig har målgruppen delats in i kluster, en galleria i Stockholm och en galleria i Borlänge.Enkäten är uppdelad i tre kategorier för att respondenten enkelt ska kunna förstå och fylla i den snabbt. Syftet med enkäten är att kunna se hur butiken får sitt skyltmaterial i dagsläget och om det finns behov av hp;s koncept.Antalet utdelade enkäter blev 130 stycken ( 80 i Stockholm och 50 i Borlänge) med ett bortfall på 26 stycken. Totalt insamlade enkäter blev 104 stycken.Resultatet visar att av dessa var 35 % positiva, 38% negativa och 27% var osäkra till hp;s koncept.

The stability of AM and FM screenings in different water conditions – with the mottle under consideration

This project was performed at Rochester Institute of Technology to get more understanding and knowledge about AM and FM screenings similarities and differences with considerations of the mottle. By designing a test form conformed to the specific measurements and printing it on Heidelberg's Sunday 2000 press, the project group has evaluated the questions that already existed and the ones that occurred during the project. Hence the first press run left some unexpected phenomenon therefore another press run was performed. Measurements were performed and graphs produced in Excel. The project group evaluated the results and from that able to establish facts and draw conclusions. It has been a great experience for the project group and they have learnt a lot.

Paper dimensional stability in sheet-fed offset printing : Papperets dimensionsstabilitet i en arkoffsetpress

In offset printing, dampening solution is used to create a good balance in the process. If too much water is transferred to the paper, the sheet can change its size between the printing units, due to water absorption, and cause a problem with the colour register. This phenomenon is usually referred to as fanout. In this degree project, an investigation was made to see if the paper dimensions changed through its way in the sheet-fed printing process. The instrument Luchs Register Measuring Systems (Lynx) was used, and a method for measuring if the paper changed its dimensions with this instrument, was developed. Paper qualities with three different grammages were used, 90, 130 and 250 gsm. This investigation showed that all paper qualities changed their size with widening in the gripper edge in the range of 10 - 70 µm and in the trailing edge the increase was 10 - 130 µm. The elongations of the papers were in the range of 10- 300 µm. The papers with lowest grammage changed more than the heavier. To see if the print had been affected of the widening and elongation, print quality parameters like relative contrast, dot gain and mottle were correlated with the Lynx data from the sheets. The group of papers that gave correlations were in 130 gsm. The sheets had visual doubling and the combined standard deviation from the Lynx marks K3, K5 and K21 correlated with dot gain. When the variations increased so did the dot gain and this indicates that the doubling was due to the widening. There was also a correlation between the standard deviation from K3 and Mottle. The sheets widened with an average of 30 µm in the gripper edge and since there probably were doubling due to widening it also affected the Mottle values. What the widening depends on is hard to tell. Since widening was so small, it could be due to water absorption, papers being ironed out or maybe the sheets have been flattened out. It probably needs a more detailed investigation to find out what causes the widening. Further investigations about how print quality is affected by the register accuracy of a printing machine should include a print form with measuring areas close to the Lynx marks. The measuring areas should contain fine hairlines, negative text printed with at least two colours and some pictures to evaluate together with standard measuring should give a good knowledge about the subject.

The Translation of the -ing form in the Novel The Da Vinci Code

This essay deals with the translation into Swedish of the ing-form in the popular novel The Da Vinci Code. The reason for looking at the -ing form is that it is a grammatical structure which is difficult to render in Swedish since there is no exact equivalent, at least not one which is used in the same manner as the English. The aim is to find out how the translator has dealt with the ing-form and also to find out whether there are any instances where the context has been altered due to the manner in which the translation has been carried out.

Fördjupningsdelen behandlar områden som branding, företagsidentitet och grafisk profil. För att skapa ett starkt varumärke på en marknad krävs välplanerade, strategiska och originella reklamkampanjer samt en stark och enhetlig visuell identitet. Med hjälp av fördjupningen så har en kunskapsgrund lagts inom ämnet grafisk profilering och det praktiska arbetet har förenklats mycket.Den praktiska delen innehåller framtagning av en grafisk profil med tillhörande manual till House of Sweden, Sveriges nya ambassad, Event Center och lägenhetsbyggnad i Washington D.C., USA. Genom en kvalitativ och enhetlig grafisk profil ska House of Sweden kunna bli ett starkt och välkänt varumärke. Den grafiska profilen bygger på ett antal huvuddelar; logotyp, typsnitt, färger och bildspråk. Utifrån dessa delar har bland annat korrespondensprogram, annonser och profilartiklar tagits fram, allt sammanställt i en omfattandegrafisk manual.

Jämförande analys mellan svenska och portugisiska reklambyråer. : Saker som är bra att veta om man ska arbeta som grafisk formgivare i Sverige eller i Portugal

If you move from Sweden to Portugal to work as an Art Director at an Ad agency, there are certain things you ought to know. Perhaps even before you decide to move. There are a lot of things that are quite different if you compare Portugal to Sweden, not only the language, but also the design, software, working hours and much more. You have for example two month with double salary, you work till six p.m. and when it comes to maternity leave, you have 100% compensation with no taxes the first four months of every pregnancy. The tasks you have to handle as an Art Director in Portugal may, as in Sweden, be various. The difference is more how you solve your task and what the design looks like. As a Swede in Portugal the solution will probably look like a mixture between the Portuguese “expressive” and the Swedish “clean” design. This degree project discusses questions that might turn up when a Swede gets employed as an Art Director in Portugal. What will the salary be? When, in the morning, is it time to show up at the office? How many weeks of vacations are entitled? There are a lot of distinctions, but also a lot of similarities. The report is mainly based upon the author’s own experiences of the Ad agency McCann-Erickson in Lisbon. The history of McCann-Erickson starts in New York, 1930 and grew rapidly into one of the leading corporation with agencies all over the world. It is still today one of the world’s largest Ad company with clients like Coca-Cola and General Motors, and the slogan “truth well told” still lights up all their agencies after almost a century, just like a leading star.

Banverket Produktion är Sveriges största entreprenör inom järnvägsunderhåll. De har tillgång till ett flertal IT-system som ger information om järnvägsanläggningar och maskiner. Banverket Produktion vill utreda möjligheterna med att kombinera denna information och presentera den i ett kartgränssitt.En kartapplikation kan användas för att ta fram information ifrån olika system och presentera grafiskt. Den kan även användas som ett gränssnitt för att söka information från andra distrikt. Genom att använda sig av grafisk kartvisning av verksamhetsinformation blir det möjligt att planera åtgärder på ett mer tidssparande och kostnadseffektivt sätt och maskiner kan utnyttjas effektivare.Arbetet har gått ut på att beskriva vilken ökad verksamhetsnytta grafisk kartvisning av verksamhetsinformation kan ge och presentera ett förslag på en systemarkitektur som stödjer grafisk kartvisning. Inom Banverket Produktion finns det flera problem som man tror ska kunna lösas med hjälp av grafisk kartvisning. En viktig del i vårt arbete har varit att ta fram den viktigaste funktionaliteten i en kartapplikation som skall lösa dessa problem och ge en ökad verksamhetsnytta.

Marknadsundersökning angående design för behållare av ansiktscreme : Marketing reseach concerning the design of beauty cream containers

Detta examensarbete innefattar en teoretisk och en praktisk del om marknadsundersökningar. Inom teoridelen har litteratur inom ämnet studerats för att sedan genomföra en marknadsundersökning. Utöver detta ha resultatet som erhållts ur marknadsundersökningen tillämpats för att ta fram ett designkoncept för en serie ansiktscremer.Marknadsundersökningen utfördes i form av en observationsresearch där ansiktscremer av olika priser och märken jämfördes, samt en webbenkät där målgruppen fick svara på frågor om ansiktscremers behållare och behållarens färg. Målgruppen är satt till män och kvinnor över 15 år som använder ansiktscreme. För att marknadsundersökningen ska vara möjlig att genomföra inom satta tidsramar skickades webbenkäten endast ut till studenter vid Högskolan Dalarna i Borlänge samt till läsare av modebloggen ”Hopplösa Modenördar”.Totalt inkom 469 svar.Resultatet visade att vitt, silver och svart är de färger som tilltalar män mest i fråga om ansiktscremebehållare. För kvinnor var det vitt, guld och rosa som kändes mest tilltalande. Ur resultatet kunde även utläsas att burken var den behållare som tilltalar både män och kvinnor mest.
