This paper analyses the representations of the body present in contemporary science-fiction literature and film. Using theoretical concepts by Althusser, Foucault and Haraway, the text establishes first a typology of cybernetic organisms in contemporary culture and reviews its presence and ideological implications in films like Robocop (1987), Johny Mnemonic (1995) or Matrix (1999). The paper argues for a self-conscience as political and historical subjects in order to avoid falling into a fallacious cyberandroginy that reinforces phallogocentric power structures.

El estatuto de la ficción en Nietzsche y Foucault

A partir de la declaración de Foucault según la cual éste reconocía ¿no haber escritomás que fi cciones¿ se trata de desentrañar el estatuto de la fi cción en su pensamiento y lalegitimidad de su uso en el pensamiento crítico. El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar quelejos de deslegitimar la indagación histórica de Foucault, el discurso fi ccionante halla suautoridad en la concepción nitezscheana de la verdad. Ésta se opone tanto a la concepciónrepresentativa como a la concepción heideggeriana de la verdad, la cual trata también desortear la representación.Nuestro análisis se centra con este fi n en el texto introductorio a La verdad y lasformas jurídicas en el que Foucault ofrece un comentario de Sobre verdad y mentira ensentido extramoral.

El despoblado altomedieval de Cuyacabras (Burgos): Realidad, principios y argumentos

The archaeological site of Cuyacabras (Quintanar de la Sierra, Burgos) is one of main early medieval reference settlements in Upper Arlanza basin lands and it attracts a great amount of visitors. The monumental featured half-caved church and the necropolis consisting of several burials dug into the rock present around the whole area are material evidences of an ancient hill town which has remained uninhabited from middle XIIIth century. New fieldworks on this whole site, excavated during the sixties, have been focused on improving the scientific impact of the site and setting up to date the records and information entries for the necropolis. All obtained data emphasize the weakness of several principles used to put in value the settlement, and they also suggest a revision of several-year-old discussions on one hand, and on the other one, they encourage scholars to propound new up to date theories which will fi t better with our knowledge"s current context.

El cáliz “de San Segundo” atestigua cómo un mismo objeto puede aportar información sobre sus orígenes y sobre su trascendencia en la cultura material de un lugar y época que lo recibieron con posterioridad; desde las manos del platero Andrea Petrucci en la Siena del Trecento hasta su hallazgo en la ciudad de Ávila en 1519 y sus implicaciones en la construcción del mito de San Segundo.

This article analyses the cómic book Maus, by Art Spiegelman (1986-1991), from two angles: as a work of art dealing with the Holocaust, and as a cómic that subverts the fictional tradition of the genre, opening itself up to history and the narration of reality. Maus, the first cómic book to treat the topic of the Holocaust in depth, was written by a second-generation witness. It is a story of both physical survival and enduring trauma in the family. Educación en Valores y Diferencia Sexual: Realidad y políticas educativas en el contexto español

Este artículo analiza para el contexto español las políticas promovidas en los últimos años por el gobierno conservador del partido popular y los cambios que conllevaron la entrada en vigor, en el 2002, de la Ley de Calidad de la Enseñanza. Los mismos no parecen garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades para las mujeres, pues nos encontramos ante una Ley cuya finalidad es buscar respuestas a los cambios tecnológicos y los criterios de mercado, llegando a afirmarse que las reformas educativas son necesarias para la “revisión, ajuste y mejora”, siendo la “calidad” el mecanismo para “el logro de cotas más elevadas de progreso social y económico”. A pesar de que la exposición de motivos de la Ley alude al bienestar individual y social –sin explicitar abiertamente el significado que les otorga-, los planteamientos neoliberales de las economías capitalistas se insertan en el discurso y se habla, como se ha indicado, de la necesidad de ajustes que en estas perspectivas no garantizan el avance en la lucha contra la exclusión y la discriminación, dificultando el encuentro de las diferencias, de lo femenino y de lo masculino. El nuevo gobierno socialista, surgido de las elecciones celebradas en el pasado mes de marzo de 2004, forzosamente debe plantear una transición educativa que necesita de medidas urgentes, atrevidas y transformadoras.
