Estudo da concentração de material particulado em ambientes internos e externos de bibliotecas

Our twenty-first century society and the rhythm of life and work we have to face in our daily routine compel us to spend most of our lifetime in closed environments, in our houses, educational institutions, hospitals, airports, amongst as many others. The study of the air quality in internal environments (IAQ) is very important for monitoring people’s health effects and their environmental comfort in these locations. One essential parameter to analyze this measure is to evaluate the concentration of dispersed particulates in the air, specially focusing on those thinner particles (below the diameter of 2,5 μm), they can pose serious risks for human being because they can remain in the lungs, penetrate through the pores of our skin, amongst other harmful effects on human’s health. In this work the air quality inside the public library Profª Josina Vasques Ferrari and at Unesp public state library was evaluated, both located in Itapeva, as well as a third one, inside the Communitarian Library of the Federal University in Carlos (UFSCar) from march to may in 2012. In those environments it was analyzed if the concentration of particulates pose any real treat to the users. The equipment used for particle sampling in real time was DataRam 4 (Model DR 4000). The results given for those concentrations of particulates in both internal and external environments revealed figures within the safe standard established by the WHO (World Health Organization), from 25 to μg/m³, the only exception occurred on the fifth floor of the UFSCar library, where the average for concentration stayed at 25,30 of μg/m³

This paper analises data about public schools libraries from west of São Paulo State. By means of interviews with 110 school libraries co -ordinators and visits in loco, this text forms the school libraries profile. The main conclusion is the lack of dialogue between formal discourse and libraries school customs.

A educação física no ensino médio em escolas particulares: as perspectivas de alunos, diretores, coordenadores e professores de educação física

Although physical education is regulated by law and recognized as a mandatory component of basic education class, which includes high school, there are many reports that these classes do not actually happen. Such evidence shows the situation experienced by the author of this study, which brought this research to the attention. Therefore, the objective was to investigate and understand the perspective of students, physical education teachers, principals and coordinators forward their ideas to this reality, about the high school physical education in private schools. The research made use of qualitative approach, guided by an exploratory study. The technique was undertaken to collect the questionnaire with open and closed questions, involving 263 students enrolled in high school of four schools in two cities in the state of Sao Paulo and also the director, coordinator and professor of physical education of each one of these institutions, resulting in 12 education professionals. The categories of analysis were defined as: 1. Regarding physical education in high school, 2. The occurrence of physical rducation in high school, 3. Content and dynamic strategies developed in class 4. Student participation in class. The results show that despite, although some schools have physical education classes, there are still many students who do not take them. This reveals a double challenge to the area, which is: although it is essential that such a curriculum component is included in the grades (respecting the regional law legal system) that is not enough students that actually participate in it. As teachers, coordinators and directors recognize the importance of effective physical education, there are numerous of factors that deserve consideration to better understand this reality. Linguagens documentais para as bibliotecas escolares: o caso da Espanha, Portugal e Brasil

This article analyzes the specific features and processes of indexing and classification performed in school libraries to process and retrieve information from their collections. Subject languages used in Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese school libraries are also analyzed. To achieve this goal, the concept of school library was analyzed, its function was studied and the techniques and tools that allow the information organization were examined. Among the tools, we studied the Subject Headings Lists for children and juveniles'books and the Subject Headings List for public libraries, the Universal Decimal Classification System (paperback edition) or the classification by fields of interest and specialized thesauri like the Tesauro de la Educacion UNESCO-OIE and the TesauroEuropeo de la Educacion.

Gestão do conhecimento e recursos humanos em bibliotecas universitárias brasileiras e portuguesas

The Knowledge Management represents a new vision of management of organizations, since information and knowledge are the main factors of competitiveness, today, of individuals, organizations and nations. The university plays a key role alongside with government and industry in the generation of technological innovations that can help the society progress, and the University Library is an important disseminator of scientific information. The main challenges of organizations involved in Knowledge Management are concentrated in the management of cultural and behavioral changes of its human resources and in creating an environment conducive to create, use and share information and knowledge. Within this context the question arises: How do University Libraries in Brazil and Portugal employ people management and knowledge management in order to improve the quality of its services and the productivity of their institutions? To answer it we developed a descriptive-analytic research, using the method of comparative study, analyzing 69 organizations. According to the survey results, the people management issues were the worst assessed in relation to other aspects of Knowledge Management, showing a weak dissemination of these practices in the University Libraries of Brazil and Portugal and the great need for initiatives to help develop them.

Atendimento online em bibliotecas: a experiência da Universidade de São Paulo

Os serviços de informação aliados às tecnologias evoluíram em sua forma de atuação à medida que oferecem, em menor tempo possível, informação segura de alcance maior aos usuários das bibliotecas. São inúmeros os conceitos de Serviço de Referência Virtual (SRV) que compartilham a ideia de que o uso das tecnologias de informação facilitam a comunicação entre bibliotecários e usuários. As Bibliotecas do Sistema Integrado de Bibliotecas da Universidade de São Paulo (SIBi/USP), detectaram a relevância de modernizar o Serviço de Atendimento ao Usuário, utilizando novos meios de comunicação e melhorando a interação com os usuários por meio de recursos que são de domínio e uso cotidiano dos mesmos. A Biblioteca da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia (FMVZ) da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) implantou o serviço de Atendimento Online por chat, disponibilizando aos seus usuários um novo canal de comunicação que permite o esclarecimento de dúvidas e solicitações em tempo real com atendentes. A experiência foi extremamente positiva convergindo para a implantação do sistema em outras quatro bibliotecas da USP
