Researches have shown that the introduction of rubber in concrete improves the features of its deformability, as well as contributes to environmental disposal of waste generated in the tire retreading process. Furthermore, there is a high availability of limestone within RN and CE country. Ignorance about this stone, does not allow its wide use as aggregate, leaving, this abundant supply idle. A composite of limestone gravel, with proportions of tire rubber waste which could be used as concrete would be an alternative to concrete for low applications. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the characteristics of concrete containing limestone gravel and proportions of little aggregate replacement (sand) by tire rubber waste. To this goal, the material components of the concrete were characterized, concrete specimens with limestone gravel were made, from the dash 1.0: 2.5: 3.5, varying the water/cement ratio, and inserting a commercial plasticizer, without a proportion of residue, known as reference. From this, concrete with and without the presence of the additive in the same proportions were chosen, as well as these with the use of granite gravel, for being the most used. Selected the references, to these, replacements of little aggregate (sand) were added replaced by rubber waste from the tire retreading process, treated with 1M NaOH in proportions from 5.0 to 20.0 % by mass, cured and exposed to the semiarid environment. The results indicate the possibility of using limestone gravel in the concrete composition with workability correction using plasticizer. There was a decrease in the mechanical properties of the concrete with increments of waste rubber, but there is an improvement in toughness and deformability of the composite, which makes it interesting for the construction of non-structural concrete floors, as well as, the rubber waste delayed the hardening process, continuing to gain resistance after 28 days

The construction industry is one of the largest consumers of natural raw materials, and concrete is considered today the most used material wide. This accentuated consumption of natural resources has generated concern with the preservation of the environment, and has motivated various studies related to the use of resid ues, which can partially or entirely substitute, with satisfactory performance, some materials such as the aggregate, and in so doing, decrease the impact on the environment caused by the produced residues. Research has been done to better understand and improve the microstructure of concrete, as well as to understand the mechanism of corrosion in reinforced steel. In this context, this work was developed aiming at discovering the influence of the substitution of natural sand by artificial sand, with rega rd to mechanical resistance, microstructure, and durability. To obtain the electrochemical parameters, an adaptation was made to the galvanostatic electrochemical method to study the corrosion in reinforced steel. Concretes of categories 20 MPa and 40 MPa were produced, containing natural sand, and concretes of the same categories were produced with artificial sand substituting the natural sand, and with the addition of sodium nitrate and sodium chloride. Due to the use of rock dust reject (artificial sand), an evaluation was made of its environmental risk. The results indicate that the concretes of category 20 MPa present a better performance than the concrete made with natural sand, thus making it a viable substitute. For the category 40 MPa, the better performance is from the concrete containing natural sand. The adaptation of the galvanostatic electrochemical technique to the study of the corrosion of reinforced steel within concrete proved to be valid for obtaining electrochemical parameters with a high degree of reliability, considering the number of degrees of freedom

As atividades de extensão realizadas no curso superior de tecnologia em agroecologia do IFAM tem o objetivo gerar um aprendizado em via de mão dupla, por meio do diálogo de saberes entre populações tradicionais do Amazonas e acadêmicos do curso de tecnologia em agroecologia do Instituto Federal do Amazonas. Para Isso, foram realizadas oficinas de reaproveitamento de alimentos na comunidade Lago do limão, município do Iranduba; e oficina de Plantas Alimentícias Não Convencionais na comunidade São João do Araçá, no município de Itacoatiara. Foram demonstradas as possibilidades de reaproveitar para alimentação, resíduos orgânicos e espécies alimentícias não convencionais. As duas atividades tiveram participação efetiva dos comunitários e permitiram aos acadêmicos a convivência com a realidade amazônica e a interação com os agricultores familiares e suas dificuldades e perspectivas de vida, contribuindo assim, para a formação com visão sistêmica, conforme preconiza a agroecologia.

En el presente trabajo se investigó el uso de plástico reciclado para la fabricación de ladrillos para construcción de mampostería no portante. En primer lugar se realiza la caracterización de los residuos sólidos que se generan en la ciudad de Cuenca, donde el 22,7% del total recolectado es material plástico, que se desechan libremente sin un tratamiento previo. De la misma manera se investigan las características del plástico, Polientilen Tereftalato (PET) para descartar efectos nocivos al momento de incluirlos en la mezcla con los materiales tradicionales como son el cemento y agua, agregado fino. Se elaboraron ladrillos con dimensiones de 20x10x6cm con adición de PET al 10, 25, 40, 55, 65 y 70% en sustitución del árido fino. Luego se efectuó diversos ensayoscon la finalidad de compararlos con los ladrillos de arcilla cocida de uso común en la región y analizar el material para mampostería no portante según los lineamientos establecidos por las Normas Ecuatorianas. Una vez realizados los ensayos y analizada la información se obtuvo como resultado un ladrillo óptimo con 25% de adición de PET. El cual fue sometido a un análisis térmico mediante una simulación en el programa Desingnbuilder, obteniendo como resultado niveles de confort término de mejor calidad en viviendas.

In this study, was used a very promising technique called of pyrolysis, which can be used for obtaining products with higher added value. From oils and residues, since the contribution of heavier oils and residues has intensified to the world refining industry, due to the growing demand for fuel, for example, liquid hydrocarbons in the range of gasoline and diesel. The catalytic pyrolysis of vacuum residues was performed with the use of a mesoporous material belonging the M41S family, which was discovered in the early 90s by researchers Mobil Oil Corporation, allowing new perspectives in the field of catalysis. One of the most important members of this family is the MCM-41, which has a hexagonal arrangement of mesopores with pore diameters between 2 and 10 nm and a high specific surface area, making it very promising for use as a catalyst in petroleum refining for catalytic cracking, and their mesopores facilitate the access of large hydrocarbon molecules. The addition of aluminum in the structure of MCM-41 increases the acidity of the material, making it more positive for application in the petrochemical industry. The mesoporous material of the type Al-MCM41 (ratio Si / Al = 50) was synthesized by hydrothermal method starting from the silica gel, NaOH and distilled water added to the gel pseudobohemita synthesis. Driver was used as structural CTMABr. Removal of organic driver (CTMABr) was observed by TG / DTG and FTIR, but this material was characterized by XRD, which was observed the formation of the main peaks characteristic of mesoporous materials. The analysis of adsorption / desorption of nitrogen this material textural parameters were determined. The vacuum residues (VR's) that are products of the bottom of the vacuum distillation tower used in this study are different from oil fields (regions of Ceará and Rio de Janeiro). Previously characterized by various techniques such as FTIR, viscosity, density, SARA, elemental analysis and thermogravimetry, which was performed by thermal and catalytic degradation of vacuum residues. The effect of AlMCM-41 was satisfactory, since promoted a decrease in certain ranges of temperature required in the process of conversion of hydrocarbons, but also promoted a decrease in energy required in the process. As questões ambientais têm assumido cada vez mais um papel importante e principalmente de reflexão no setor da construção civil e no público em geral. Consequentemente é notória a crescente consciencialização em questões ambientais desde a década de 60. O sector da construção civil gera grandes impactes ambientais, assim, surgiu a necessidade de pensar e desenvolver medidas e ações de modo a melhorar o seu desempenho. É essencial que o Dono da Obra e o Empreiteiro adotem medidas de prevenção ambiental, apostando na promoção da gestão ambiental, de acordo com a legislação em vigor garantindo o seu cumprimento e tornando o seu desempenho ambiental mais eficiente. Este projeto propõe uma abordagem à valorização da gestão ambiental na construção civil, abordando questões de sustentabilidade e planos de minimização e mitigação dos impactes ambientais gerados neste sector, apresentando-se como guia de procedimentos em obra, estabelecendo diretrizes e instruções a este nível. No desenvolvimento deste projeto, no enquadramento das questões ambientais e dos impactes gerados no sector da construção civil, aborda-se com maior pormenor os aspetos da gestão ambiental, efetuando-se um levantamento ao nível dos requisitos legais e boas práticas ambientais em relação à gestão dos resíduos, substâncias perigosas, águas residuais, emissões difusas, ruído e situações de emergência. Como caso prático, efetuou-se o acompanhamento ao nível da gestão ambiental a uma obra, por forma aplicar e demonstrar os conhecimentos adquiridos, no período compreendido entre setembro e março do ano atual, na qual foram identificados os impactes ambientais da empreitada, as medidas que foram implementadas, o controlo e monitorização, a análise dos dados constatados e as propostas de melhoria ao desempenho ambiental observado.

Hoje em dia, o desenvolvimento dos superplastificantes permite a produção de betões com menor razão água/cimento. Ao usar razões água/cimento mais baixas, os materiais científicos apresentam maior tendência para fissurar devido à retracção autogénea. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a utilização de polímeros superabsorventes (SAP) no controlo da retracção. O uso de SAPs em materiais comentícios atenua a retracção autogénea pois estes produtos permitem o fornecimento interno de água. Estes produtos podem também afectar outras propriedades, afectando as características mecânicas e a trabalhabilidade. Para análise do efeito dos SAP foram estudadas argamassas com várias concentrações deste produto, tendo como referência argamassas semelhantes sem SAP, determinando-se as retracções autogénea e total, a resistência à compressão e o módulo de elasticidade. Além de SAP, foi também utilizado um agregado leve, um outro tipo de introdutor de água, para comparação com os polímeros em estudo. /ABSTRACT: This work presents a study on the use of superabsorbent polymers (SAP) in the control of shrinkage. The use of SAPs in cementitious materials reduces the autogenous shrinkage because these products enable the internal supply of water. These materials can also affect other properties such as mechanical properties and workability. To analyze the effect of SAP, mortars containing various concentrations of this product were studied, in comparison with reference mortars without SAP. The tests performed were autogenous and total shrinkage, compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. Besides SAP, it was also used a lightweight aggregate, another type of internal supply of water, for comparison with the polymers under study.

Enquadrado no projeto de investigação arqueológica de Alcácer-Ceguer, no qual a DGPC colabora conjuntamente com outras entidades nacionais e estrangeiras no âmbito da conservação e restauro, está em curso, no laboratório HERCULES, um estudo que visa a caracterização das argamassas utilizadas na construção e no restauro da igreja matriz e da cidadela Portuguesa de Alcácer Ceguer.

Na atualidade, lixo é considerado como um dos problemas de ordem mundial. Uma vez que crescimento populacional tem estabelecido uma relação direta com a geração deste tipo de. A normatização quanto ao seu manuseio é tarefa árdua para o setor público, pois exige o envolvimento de diferentes setores dentro da administração. Apesar desse desafio o Brasil conseguiu caminhar na construção de uma política nacional específica para os resíduos sólidos. Dentro dessa política existe parte específica tratando dos resíduos de saúde, com normas, leis e portarias que regulamentam sua gestão de maneira adequada. O plano de gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos em saúde (PGRSS) é um instrumento de uso obrigatório nos estabelecimentos de saúde, mas ainda são poucos os que possuem tal documento. Ao compreender a importância da implementação deste plano este trabalho adotou como objeto a proposição de um Plano de Gerenciamento de Resíduos Sólidos Saúde para a Unidade de Saúde Nossa Senhora Aparecida, localizada em São Gonçalo do Sapucaí, Minas Gerais.

The behaviour of Nafion® polymeric membranes containing acid-base dyes, bromothymol blue (BB) and methyl violet (MV), were studied aiming at constructing an optical sensor for pH measurement. BB revealed to be inadequate for developing sensing phases due to the electrostatic repulsion between negative groups of their molecules and the negative charge of the sulfonate group of the Nafion®, which causes leaching of the dye from the membrane. On the other hand, MV showed to be suitable due to the presence of positive groups in its structure. The membrane prepared from a methanolic solution whose Nafion®/dye molar ratio was 20 presented the best analytical properties, changing its color from green to violet in the pH range from 0.6 to 3.0. The membrane can be prepared with good reproducibility, presenting durability of ca. 6 months and response time of 22 s, making possible its use for pH determination in flow analysis systems.

The high cost of sensitivity commercial calorimeters may represent an obstacle for many calorimetric research groups. This work describes the construction and calibration of a batch differential heat conduction calorimeter with sample cells volumes of about 400 μL. The calorimeter was built using two small high sensibility square Peltier thermoelectric sensors and the total cost was estimated to be about US$ 500. The calorimeter was used to study the excess enthalpy of solution of binary mixtures of liquids, as a function of composition, for the following binary systems of solvents: water + 1,4-dioxane or + dimethylsulfoxide at 298,2 ± 0,5 K.

Antimony is a common catalyst in the synthesis of polyethylene terephthalate used for food-grade bottles manufacturing. However, antimony residues in final products are transferred to juices, soft drinks or water. The literature reports mentions of toxicity associated to antimony. In this work, a green, fast and direct method to quantify antimony, sulfur, iron and copper, in PET bottles by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry is presented. 2.4 to 11 mg Sb kg-1 were found in 20 samples analyzed. The coupling of the multielemental technique to chemometric treatment provided also the possibility to classify PET samples between bottle-grade PET/recycled PET blends by Fe content.

In the context of quality and good laboratory practices, the article recovers some historical data. From a specific Institutional situation (CPQBA/UNICAMP), is presented an experience of establishing and implementing a standard (NIT-DICLA-035) for good laboratory practice according to definitions of the Brazilian authority (INMETRO) responsible for regulating, monitoring, supervising and recognition in this area. The issue aims to focus on studies of pesticide residues in GLP parameters.
