Onde fica o sertão rompem-se as águas: processo de territorialização da ribeira do Apodi-Mossoró (1676-1725)

The Portuguese territorial process of the captaincy of Rio Grande was initiated in1598 with the conquest of the Potengi River bar by Mascarenhas Homem. This process lasted until 1633, when it was interrupted by the arrival of the Dutch, and resumed only in 1654. From this year on, the occupation of unknown lands of the captaincy was encouraged, supporting the advancement towards conquering the backlands, breaking the divisive boundaries with the captaincy of Siará Grande so far known: the Assú riverside. This breakthrough resulted in confrontations with the inhabitants of these lands, known as tapuias, leading to outbreak of several conflicts that composed the Barbarians War. The main stage of such events in Rio Grande, between the years 1687 and 1720, was precisely the Assú riverside, one of the spaces to be investigated by this research. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the advance of the conquerors in Rio Grande, contributing to the territorial process, which resulted in the emergence of a new border between Rio Grande and Siará Grande: the Apodi-Mossoró river. For this purpose, it was used sources produced between the years 1659 and 1725, as the settlement letters, royal charters, correspondence between the City Council of Natal, captains of Rio Grande and the government of Pernambuco and also the general government, as well as the documents related to the militia composed mainly by Paulistas who struggled in the captaincy.

Expressão de MMPs, marcadores angiogênicos e proliferação celular em tumores odontogênicos

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: The study of biological behavior of odontogenic lesions is essential to the establishment of appropriate therapeutic approach and prognosis. The production of extracellular matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), angiogenesis and cell proliferation contribute to tumor growth. This paper aims to review the literature on odontogenic tumors (OT) selected according to the new World Health Organization classification (WHO- 2005) by evaluating the expression of MMPs, angiogenic and cell proliferation. Furthermore, it aims to verify the relation between these markers and the biological behavior of these lesions. RESULTS: it was found that MMPs -1, -2, -7, -9 and -26 had a higher expression in both epithelial component and stroma, and 13 particularly in the stroma. Increased angiogenesis was observed in more aggressive OT. CD105 expression was higher in keratocystic odontogenic tumour (KOT) and CD34 in solid ameloblastomas (SA). It was observed a higher expression of Ki-67 and p53 in SA and KOT and a low cell proliferation rate in the adenomatoid odontogenic tumour (AOT). CONCLUSION: These results show that MMPs are involved in invasion and recurrence of some odontogenic lesions and are associated with the biological behavior of these tumors. Angiogenesis is critical to provide support to cell proliferation and these concomitant events are correlated with different levels of biological behavior in OT when compared to odontogenic cysts, hence the use of angiogenic inhibitors may be a potential therapeutic approach in these lesions.

Este livro traz novos artigos publicados n’O Jornal de Hoje, depois daqueles publicados em Mais Notícias Genealógicas do Rio Grande do Norte. Acrescento outros artigos que postei no meu blog e outros mais que compus especialmente para esta edição. Devido ao espaço limitado que tenho no jornal, complementei alguns artigos, quando necessário, com algum comentário. Também eliminei informações que só eram necessárias para a publicação no referido jornal. Data on the biogeochemical cycle of methane in the ocean

Geological, mineralogical and microbiological aspects of the methane cycle in water and sediments of different areas in the oceans are under consideration in the monograph. Original and published estimations of formation- and oxidation rates of methane with use of radioisotope and isotopic methods are given. The role of aerobic and anaerobic microbial oxidation of methane in production of organic matter and in formation of authigenic carbonates is considered. Particular attention is paid to processes of methane transformation in areas of its intensive input to the water column from deep-sea hydrothermal sources, mud volcanoes, and cold methane seeps.

Este artículo pretende desvelar datos inéditos de Francisco de Quintana, escritor del seiscientos escasamente estudiado por la crítica literaria hasta nuestros días. La investigación, a partir tanto de fuentes primarias como de su obra literaria, ha supuesto el hallazgo de información sustancial sobre este íntimo amigo de Lope de Vega. Además de aportar nuevos testimonios biográficos, esta comunicación interrelaciona acontecimientos fundamentales de su vida con su obra literaria.

Executief Functioneren en Copingstijl van Normaal- en Hogerbegaafde Volwassenen met een Autismespectrumstoornis

Ten eerste wordt nagegaan of volwassenen met ASS beperkt zijn in hun executieve functies Cognitieve Flexibiliteit, Zelfevaluatie, Initiatief nemen, Werkgeheugen en Plannen en Organiseren. Ten tweede wordt onderzocht of beperkingen in het executief functioneren (EF) negatief samenhangen met het gebruik van een probleemgerichte copingstijl (H.1), positief met het gebruik van een emotiegerichte copingstijl (H.2) en positief met gebruik van een passief reactiepatroon (H.3). Daarnaast wordt exploratief onderzocht of leeftijd een modererende invloed heeft op bovengenoemde drie relaties. Volwassenen met een gemiddeld of hoger intelligentieniveau bij wie ASS is vastgesteld hebben een zelfrapportagevragenlijst ingevuld (survey met één meetmoment). Circa 27% van de data is afkomstig uit GGZ-cliëntendossiers, de overige data zijn afkomstig via respondentenwerving (53% non-respons op 182 uitgezette vragenlijsten). Naast enkele biografische gegevens werd gebruik gemaakt van de Brief-A, die beperkingen in het executief functioneren meet en van de Utrechtse Copinglijst (UCL), die het gebruik van zeven copingmechanismen in kaart brengt. Conform H.1 blijken beperkingen in het EF (met name Cognitieve Flexibiliteit) gerelateerd te zijn aan een geringer gebruik van probleemgerichte coping. H.2 wordt niet ondersteund door de bevindingen, aangezien resultaten erop wijzen dat EF geen variantie verklaart in het gebruik van emotiegerichte coping. EF doet dit wel ten aanzien van een passieve reactie, conform H.3. Met name Cognitieve Flexibiliteit en Werkgeheugen spelen hier een betekenisvolle rol. Er is geen significante ondersteuning voor een modererende rol van leeftijd in de drie verbanden.

Mecanismo portador articulado para equipos de clasificación. El sistema propuesto tiene por objeto proporcionar un mecanismo portante de objetos de forma individualizada para equipos de clasificación por peso e indicadores externos, como el tamaño, color, defectos superficiales, etc. Dispone de dos conjuntos de elementos que se van alternando en la cadena de clasificación: el sistema de giro y el sistema de pesado/vaciado. El sistema de giro es el encargado de hacer rotar los objetos en la zona dotada de los medios para la toma de imágenes. Está formado por parejas de elementos rodantes unidos a un eje que bascula lateralmente. Los objetos se alojan en el hueco definido por cada dos ejes consecutivos, de tal manera que apoyan en cuatro elementos rodantes. Una vez que se han tomado las imágenes el eje que soporta los elementos rodantes bascula y deposita el objeto a clasificar sobre el mecanismo de pesado/vaciado.

Sistema combinado de calefacción y enriquecimiento carbónico a partir de biomasa

La invención consiste en un proceso de aprovechamiento energético de biomasa vegetal que permite aprovechar el calor contenido en la biomasa para la calefacción de cultivos protegidos y/o sistemas, así como recuperar el CO2 contenido en los gases de combustión generados para ser utilizado en sistemas de enriquecimiento carbónico de atmósferas, como en los cultivos intensivos bajo plástico. Se han establecido las condiciones de operación adecuadas del proceso de forma que se optimiza su eficiencia. El empleo de este sistema en cultivos bajo plástico permite conseguir una importante mejora en el crecimiento de los cultivos. Este proceso consigue aprovechar el 80% de la energía contenida en la biomasa para calefacción, así como retener el 99% del CO2 generado con un consumo energético inferior a 100 kJ/kgCO2, permitiendo además liberar este CO2 a demanda para el enriquecimiento carbónico de atmósferas.

Sistema de guiado para movimiento autónomo de vehículos en entornos estructurados

El objetivo de la invención es un sistema de guiado de vehículos autónomos mediante cámaras y/o fotodetectores para seguir una trayectoria, que se determina por un conjunto de emisores láser dispuestos en un entorno estructurado, por ejemplo, en los distintos pasillos de un invernadero, y que determina la trayectoria a seguir. Para el establecimiento de la trayectoria a seguir, se dispone de diversos emisores láser colocados en los pasillos del invernadero, que estarán activos en función de los pasillos que deba recorrer el vehículo para describir la trayectoria prevista.

Study and analysis of the waves and currents interaction phenomena

Interaction of ocean waves, currents and sea bed roughness is a complicated phenomena in fluid dynamic. This paper will describe the governing equations of motions of this phenomena in viscous and nonviscous conditions as well as study and analysis the experimental results of sets of physical models on waves, currents and artificial roughness, and consists of three parts: First, by establishing some typical patterns of roughness, the effects of sea bed roughness on a uniform current has been studied, as well as the manning coefficient of each type is reviewed to find the critical situation due to different arrangement. Second, the effect of roughness on wave parameters changes, such as wave height, wave length, and wave dispersion equations have been studied, third, superimposing, the waves + current + roughness patterns established in a flume, equipped with waves + currents generator, in this stage different analysis has been done to find the governing dimensionless numbers, and present the numbers to define the contortions and formulations of this phenomena. First step of the model is verified by the so called Chinese method, and the Second step by the Kamphius (1975), and third step by the van Rijn (1990) , and Brevik and Ass ( 1980), and in all cases reasonable agreements have been obtained. Finally new dimensionless parameters presented for this complicated phenomena.

Nostalgia videogames as playable game criticism

The aim of this paper is to consider the emergence of nostalgia videogames in the context of playable game criticism. Mirroring the development of the nostalgia film in cinema, an increasing number of developers are creating videogames that are evocative of past gaming forms, designs, and styles. The primary focus of this paper is to explore the extent to which these nostalgia videogames could be considered games-on-games: games that offer a critical view on game design and development, framed by the nostalgia and cultural memory of both gamers and game developers. Theories of pastiche and parody as applied to literature, film, and art are used to form a basis for the examination of recent nostalgia videogames, all of which demonstrate a degree of reflection on the videogame medium.
