Foi montado um experimento em condições de campo, envolvendo clones diplóides e poliplóides de Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg., objetivando o estudo comparativo de balanço hídrico com base na análise dos seguintes parâmetros: potencial hídrico foliar, resistência estomática, transpiração, conteúdo percentual de água, déficit de saturação foliar, análise de microestrutura epidérmica e do índice de eficiência hídrica. De um modo geral, os resultados sugerem maior capacidade hídrica ao clone poliplóide IAC-222, conseqüente do seu maior índice de eficiência hídrica, podendo ser definido como vantajoso sobre o diplóide por se re-hidratar mais rapidamente após períodos críticos.

Premium brands’ upgrade process to luxury is a phenomenon still not well analysed. A literature review allowed assessment of what distinguishes premium and luxury brands. We infered five propositions then tested through a case study research. The research investigated three Portuguese brands that successfully moved from premium to luxury - Claus Porto, Josefinas and Vila Joya. We conclude that acquiring social status is the most essential and difficult feature to deal with, when migrating from premium to luxury as it depends on voluntary and involuntary factors.

Através de cromatografia descendente em papel, com a utilização de três sistemas de solventes, indentificaram-se os pigmentos presentes nas folhas de seringueira. Por meio das análises dos cromatogramas e dos RF encontrados, verificou-se a presença de duas antocianinas, a pelargonidina e a cianidina. Foi observada a presença de uma mancha amarela, com RF acima de 0,90, provavelmente o quempferol. O teor de antocianina foi influenciado pelo déficit hídrico em plântulas de serigueira, com drástica redução nos primeiros dez dias de antogenia foliar. Após o vigésimo dia de idade, não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos. A progênie do clone IAN 873 de Hevea brasiliensis foi mais influenciada pela deficiência hídrica que a de H. pauciflora.

Servant leadership theory has been the subject of great academic discussion, namely in what concerns reaching a consensus for its definition. As many frameworks have been designed in order to define the servant leader’s characteristics, we based ourselves in van Dierendonck’s review and synthesis on servant leadership (2011) to assess how it is perceived in a Portuguese organizational context. After performing several interviews in a private health care organization, we conclude that the perception of servant leadership is generally positive and that its characteristics seem to be in line with academic literature. However, some issues arose such as a seemingly lack of relevance given to authenticity and humility, the latter being a unique attribute of servant leadership. Also, we found a discrepancy between hierarchical levels’ perception of servant leadership characteristics as well as questioning if an over emphasis on service can diminish the servant leader’s impact on organizational performance.

Making the transition between plans and unexpected occurrences is something organizations are used to doing every day. However, not much is known about how actors cope with unanticipated events and how they accommodate them within predefined schedules. In this study, we draw on an inductive analysis of aspiring filmmakers’ film sets to elaborate on how they plan their shooting activities every day, only to adjust them when unforeseen complications arise. We discover that film crews anchor their expectations for the day based on a planned shooting schedule, yet they incorporate a built-in assumption that it will inevitably be disrupted. We argue that they resort to triage processes and “troubleshooting protocols” that help decipher incoming problems. Familiar problems are solved by making use of experience obtained from past situations, whereas unprecedented problems are solved through a tacit protocol used as a tool to quickly devise an appropriate game plan. This study contributes to the literature on sense-making and provides valuable information about the unexplored world of filmmaking.

Having registered negative retail value growth of 4% in Portugal in 2014, the juice category is set to decline further by 5,5% until 2019. Manufacturers of juices and nectars are therefore increasingly looking for new categories in order to balance this negative forecast in their home territory. One apparent growth opportunity for Compal, the leading producer of juices and nectars, is to expand its commercial reach to new occasions of consumption. This report carefully analyzes the opportunities related to an expansion to the main meal occasion and introduces a complete marketing and communications plan for a possible new main meal juice, Compal à Mesa. The product concept represents a rather premium positioning for the main meal occasion, including new flavor mixes that are targeted at different occasions of meals. This research intends to examine if there were significant differences on the brand engagement and on the electronic word of mouth (e-WOM)1 referral intention through Facebook between Generation X and Generation Y (also called millennials). Also, this study intends to examine if there are differences in the motivations that drive these generations to interact with brands through Facebook. Results indicated that Generation Y members consumed more content on Facebook brands’ pages than Generation X. Also, they were more likely to have an e-WOM referral intention as well as being more driven by brand affiliation and opportunity seeking. Finally, currently employed individuals were found to contribute with more content than students. This study fills the gap in the literature by addressing how marketing professionals should market their brand and interact and engage with their customers, based on customers’ generational cohort.
