Curriculum Innovation Network Conference - 18th & 19th January 2011

Presentations from the Curriculum Innovation Network Conference that took place on 18th & 19th January 2011 at the University of Southampton. The ambition was to bring together a global network of universities who are engaged in institution-wide curriculum innovation. The focus of the network is to share learning and practice in a collaborative way, to identify best practice and to explore practical solutions to the challenges we face. Keynote speakers from across the world and colleagues from leading universities came together to share their experience on approaches to transforming their curricula and the overall learning experience of their students. The challenges of doing this are significant, and there is much that we can learn from each other as we seek to transform the learning environment of our institutions. We hope that all who attend found these two days of great value in starting and enhancing a global dialogue about education transformation. Additional presentations will be uploaded in due course. Please note the copy right of these presentations remains with the author.

Social participation and protagonism: Reflections fron the Conference of the Rights of Children’s and adolescent in Brazil

This paper examines the children and young people's participation and protagonism rights based on the Conferences on Children and Adolescents Rights' experience in Brazil, based on childhood sociology. Conferences' documents were consulted on the Brazilian government websites. These study findings revealed that young people's participation has increased in the last conferences. However, it is necessary to promote a systematic and genuine participation through democratic relations construction in all development contexts where childrenand adolescent live in order to modify their life and society participative practices.

Se compone de diez actividades destinadas a ayudar a los profesores a desarrollar las capacidades de análisis e interpretación de datos de los alumnos de ciencias. Cada actividad incluye una hoja de preguntas y una hoja de datos, ésta última, disponible en archivos de Excel, para que los estudiantes utilicen las nuevas tecnologías para crear gráficos. A Note on the periodic orbits and topological entropy of graph maps

This paper deals with the relationship between the periodic orbits of continuous maps on graphs and the topological entropy of the map. We show that the topological entropy of a graph map can be approximated by the entropy of its periodic orbits
