Este artículo explica que establecer en las ciudades el modelo de centro Comercial abierto como estrategia del comercio tradicional de las ciudades de Gipuzkoa, representa grandes ventajas respecto a la mejora de la competitividad de estos comercios, que durante los últimos años han tratado de buscar su nicho de mercado frente a la aparición de otras formas comerciales, que se han expansionado con mucha fuerza en este territorio, ya que dada su situación geográfica, ha visto como desde la década de los años 80 los grupos franceses se introdujeron en Gipuzkoa, preparándose para la integración europea de los años 90.

Domingos José Gonçalves de Magalhães, Visconde de Araguaia, nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, em 13 de agosto de 1811, e morreu em Roma, em 1822, onde, então, exercia função diplomática. Formou-se em Medicina, mas deu preferência à atividade literária e à carreira diplomática.Foi também eleito deputado à Assembleia Geral Legislativa. Seu primeiro livro, Poesias, foi publicado em 1832. Fundou a Niterói : Revista Brasiliense, com o propósito de promover a reforma romântica de nossas letras. Foi aí que publicou o Ensaio sobre a história da literatura no Brasil : discurso preliminar, verdadeiro manifesto de reforma romântica, e, ao mesmo tempo, lançou o livro de poesias Suspiros poéticos e saudades, que toda a crítica da época apontou como obra iniciadora do Romantismo no Brasil. Suas obras completas - literárias, históricas e filosóficas -, em oito tomos, foram lançadas pela Garnier, de 1864 a 1876.

Enhanced dispersive wave generation by using chirped pulses in a microstructured fiber

A theoretical investigation on the nonlinear pulse propagation and dispersive wave generation in the anomalous dispersion region of a microstructured fiber is presented. By simulating the dispersive wave generation under different conditions. it is found that the generation mechanism of the dispersive wave is mainly due to the pulse trapping across the zero-dispersion wavelength. By varying the initial pulse chirp, the output spectrum can be broadened and the intensity of the dispersive wave can be obviously enhanced. In particular, there exists an optimal positive chirp which maximizes the intensity of the dispersive wave. This effect can be explained by the energy transfer from the Raman soliton to the dispersive wave due to the effect of the pulse trapping and the effect of the higher-order dispersion. Fishery management plans and the development of artisanal fisheries in Nigeria: a review

Management of natural resources all over the world is of paramount importance to their sustainability in developing countries like Nigeria, there is less emphasis on proper management especially of fishery and other aquatic resources due to lack of sensitization and enlightenment of the rural dwellers who are closer to such natural resources. The main thrust of this review is to examine the management plans for Nigerian freshwater bodies (rivers and lakes) and the impact of such plans on the artisanal fisheries development in Nigeria. From the on-shelf information gathered there is scarcity of information on the management of Nigerian freshwater body's information available indicates that there is the traditional fisheries management and the government legal approach in form of fisheries Laws and Regulations. However, these management techniques are poorly carried out since there is a poor follow-up. Appreciable impact of fisheries management introduced on Kanji Lake by the Nigerian-German Kanji Lake Fisheries Promotion Project (NGKLFPP) between 1993 and 2001 proves worthwhile as this introduced some management measures such as implementation of fisheries Laws and Regulations, the ban of obnoxious fishing methods, introduction of fishing license, constitution of a management unit and appointment of liaison fishermen. Within the operative years of the project a lot of success was achieved and it is recommended that the approach in Kainji should be replicated in other freshwater bodies in Nigeria to alleviate poverty in the rural poor fishing communities

Procedures to prevent the occurrence of potentially dangerous situations during the operation of the Mackereth 1-metre mini or short sediment corer

During the 1950s and 1960s, F.J.H. Mackereth developed and published plans for a series of pneumatic samplers for lake sediments. Unfortunately, as the equipment was continually evolving during ensuing research, no user manuals, beyond the original publication, had been produced. Over the last few years there have been a few potentially very serious accidents with the 1-metre corer, which has prompted the authors to carry out a risk assessment. This highlighted two weaknesses in the design and its later developments. They can be corrected simply by checking for screw threads that may have been added to the exhaust port on the mini-corer, and by changing the operating procedure. An A4 nine-page user manual is now available from the authors. A small charge ( pound sterling 10 in 1998) will be made to cover handling costs and postage.
