‘Green Consumption’ beyond mainstream economy: A discourse analysis

In contemporary society, green consumption is a popular concept. The life styles of people and consumption behaviors are moderated in accordance to the ‘green ideology’. The process of green consumption can be observed through social behaviors such as preference of bio foods, recycling, reusing, limiting the over consumption and using environmentally friendly transport systems. However, mainstream economic analyses on green consumption argued that consumer behaviors are due to the rational choice of individuality based on utility and self-preferences. The hypothesis of this paper on consumer behavior in green consumption is configured by discourses according to the discourse analysis.

Assembly Guidance in Augmented Reality Environments Using a Virtual Interactive Tool

The application of augmented reality (AR) technology for assembly guidance is a novel approach in the traditional manufacturing domain. In this paper, we propose an AR approach for assembly guidance using a virtual interactive tool that is intuitive and easy to use. The virtual interactive tool, termed the Virtual Interaction Panel (VirIP), involves two tasks: the design of the VirIPs and the real-time tracking of an interaction pen using a Restricted Coulomb Energy (RCE) neural network. The VirIP includes virtual buttons, which have meaningful assembly information that can be activated by an interaction pen during the assembly process. A visual assembly tree structure (VATS) is used for information management and assembly instructions retrieval in this AR environment. VATS is a hierarchical tree structure that can be easily maintained via a visual interface. This paper describes a typical scenario for assembly guidance using VirIP and VATS. The main characteristic of the proposed AR system is the intuitive way in which an assembly operator can easily step through a pre-defined assembly plan/sequence without the need of any sensor schemes or markers attached on the assembly components.

I-SS: integrated supervision systems approach based on interactive components

Process supervision is the activity focused on monitoring the process operation in order to deduce conditions to maintain the normality including when faults are present Depending on the number/distribution/heterogeneity of variables, behaviour situations, sub-processes, etc. from processes, human operators and engineers do not easily manipulate the information. This leads to the necessity of automation of supervision activities. Nevertheless, the difficulty to deal with the information complicates the design and development of software applications. We present an approach called "integrated supervision systems". It proposes multiple supervisors coordination to supervise multiple sub-processes whose interactions permit one to supervise the global process

Los usos políticos del lenguaje y el problema del discurso de género: caso la despenalización del aborto en Colombia

Este trabajo se centra en el análisis del discurso político y desde allí analiza la problemática que tiene el aborto en Colombia, con la intencionalidad de permitir a las mujeres decidir sobre su cuerpo sin que sean notablemente estigmatizadas y penalizadas por llevar a cabo una práctica que desde ciertos puntos de vista debe ser permitida para respetar los derechos de las mujeres. En ese sentido, la despenalización del aborto en Colombia se permite en tres casos específicos, por violación, peligro para la vida de la mujer o malformaciones en el feto; bajo estas premisas que han pasado por una evolución discursiva, que no sólo ha afectado a las mujeres, sino a la sociedad, ya que el problema se ha acrecentado y se ha convertido también, en un problema de salud pública. Es así, que desde autores como Bourdieu, Butler y Austin, se crean actos de palabra que desprenden el cuerpo de su lenguaje, crea fuerza en él y permiten acciones que aumenten el posicionamiento de las mujeres en la lucha reivindicatoria que les permita decidir qué hacer con su cuerpo.
