The present investigation examined the assemblages of brachyuran crabs in three bays of southeastern So Paulo State, analyzing the numbers of species and individuals, biomass, and diversity. The crabs were collected monthly in Ubatumirim, Ubatuba, and Mar Virado bays in the Ubatuba region over 2 years (1998 and 1999). In each bay, six tows were made from a fishing boat. A total of 39,820 specimens, representing 11 super families, 39 genera, and 65 species of brachyurans, were obtained. The mean number of specimens and biomass varied seasonally, which can be mainly related with the population tendencies of two dominant species in the area (Callinectes ornatus and Hepatus pudibundus). The highest numbers of individuals and species were found in Ubatuba Bay, followed by Ubatumirim and Mar Virado. The highest diversity index was estimated for Ubatumirim (H' = 2.44), followed by Ubatuba (H' = 2.37) and Mar Virado (H' = 1.86). In general, the coastal region supported high abundance and species richness concerning brachyurans, with high diversity indices, probably because of its more-heterogeneous substrate, which may afford more refuges for certain species. These results suggested that environmental conditions in this area, although they showed certain differences, are favorable for the establishment and development of a diverse brachyuran guild.

This is an ethnographic and comparative study of the Maracatus Solar (2006) and Reis de Paus (1960), whose aim was to verify what is ancient and traditional in the new maracatu practiced by the guild Solar and conversely, what is new or modern in the old maracatu ritualized by guild Reis de Paus. It is worth noting that through this case study it is also intended to ethnographically observe and better understand the processes of ruptures and continuities between modernization and tradition, and the relationship between the global and the local. The communication system, the dancing, the music, the costumes and the loas (letters) were analyzed using the technique of participant observation as well as secondary materials such as newspapers, blogs and magazines. The interviews were open, non-directive, but recorded to facilitate understanding the speech of revelers. The research has shown that all the symbolic elements of aesthetic expression of the maracatu are permeated by clashes of historical contexts and of political representation, which, in another instance, also enunciates a fight of micro-community resistance regarding the renewal process and the social development that plague modern megalopolis. It is In this interim, between modernity and tradition that today it can be spoken about the existence of hybrid identity in the maracatu regarding a context mediated by the overall above mentioned values and customs specific of the new generations. However, one can not deny that the forms of negotiations with modernity also require the establishment of a link with the specific singularity of a popular culture that is not excluded, but also should not get invaded by the idea of authenticity. Therefore, performing this study was above all an opportunity to understand also the community life in the city outskirts, understanding society, culture and everyday social relations maintained between humans that produce and make it all happen. The Solar and Reis de Paus do not join in opposition between themselves nor by their similarity. What is most striking among them is the renewal of a tradition that reinvents itself in the form of popular representation across the street parade

This study aims to historicize a problem: How Campinense Club, club social of the city of Campina Grande, became a popular club? This guild was founded in 1915 by a group of graduates, which they called "Campinense" a social club dedicated to the enjoyment of the city's elites. To investigate the mechanisms that have led to this popularity, was chosen that includes a period from 1954 to 1965, when it was created a department where the professional football club won a string of six consecutive championships, considered the main achievement of its history sports. Were used as research sources Borborema the Journal, a newspaper founded in 1957 and that during the period in question, was the spokesman of the main political groups in the city, which on many occasions were the sponsors of the clubs the same. This newspaper had a daily sports column and introduced the red-black team to Paraíba. Were used, although the club's meeting minutes taken as official documents, which allowed it to be mounted on a puzzle of the club's events, since the information about the Campinense present rather fragmented. Finally, respondents were fans, athletes and leaders who, through his lines in a way pointed out other possibilities such as a club, believed to be aristocratic, has become a passion among the fans, giving rise to this conception to be one that Campinense broke with the established elites of the city.

As the space and the city are objects of desires, interests, seduction, sedition, appropriations, battles, victories, defeats, require to be analyzed historically. This research investigates and discusses the construction of public spaces in Jardim do Seridó City, backwoods of Rio Rio Grande do Norte, in the first decades of twentieth century, when the municipality was chaired by Heráclio Pires Fernandes, who ruled from 1917 to 1930 and was graduated from the University of Pharmacy of Recife, where he contacted the architectural, political and artistic influences circulating in the capital of Pernambuco. In the first decades of the twentieth century, the space of Jardim earns statements and practices, against the discourse of modernity, which sought to justify the title of Veneza Seridoense . At the time, the city had undergone several transformations in its public spaces through the construction of the Butchery, the Market, the Public Roads connecting the city to other urban centers, the building of the Bridge of the Pedra Lavrada Farm, the Elementary School Antônio de Azevedo , the creation of the Music Band Euterpe Jardinense , the Literary and Recreative Guild, the pavilion, the paving, tree planting, lighting, streets naming and listing of the annual painting of households, the arrival of automobiles, mail and telegraph. The construction of these new sceneries and the arrival of equipments generated impacts in the daily life of the population and were received differentiated ways by individuals involved in the process, which shows the tension between old and new, the relationship between history and space

Este artigo busca expor sinteticamente o que foi a viagem que Fidel Castro realizou ao Chile em novembro de 1971, e também refletir a respeito tanto das estratégias políticas evidenciadas por Castro em sua estadia no Chile, quanto sobre as conseqüências que derivaram dessas estratégias para o processo conhecido como a experiência chilena. Conclui afirmando que, se não se pode atribuir à visita de Fidel toda a confrontação que mais tarde iria se estabelecer no Chile, também não se pode isentar integralmente o dirigente cubano de uma certa responsabilidade quanto à situação que se impôs. Esta viagem de Fidel ao Chile de Allende foi uma viagem incomum, distinta de qualquer padrão diplomático, e abrigou silenciosamente uma profunda disputa política no interior da esquerda latino-americana que permaneceu por muito tempo desconhecida.

The consumption has become a major pillar of modern capitalism and at the same time, one of the factors that relate to social inequality. Karl Marx developed the theory of historical materialism which maintains a history of society determined by class struggle and the! exploitation of man by man. Considered to be overtaken by those who believe that Marxism is synonymous with real socialism, the Marxist ideals seem more present than in the Western world which each individual takes the individualization (loss of sense of public and collective) and the alienation by the work. Weassumed we could work on these issues in student education, even in elementary school, through questioning of the consumer society, with the criticism of television and the media, the main promoter of the current sense of consumption, as an initial step that could lead to future autonomy of theindividual. The theory of ideology and ideas of Paulo Freire's liberating education theory permeated the experience that happened as a participant observation of groups in the discipline of sociology in the unit 2 of the Colégio Pedro II in Rio de Janeiro, the state capital, an institution under the direct administration Ministry of Education. Este texto veio a constituir parte do segundo capítulo de nossa tese de Mestrado - O Ato Livre: considerações a respeito da política operária - Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas, Universidade de São Paulo. Nele, procuro mostrar a impressionante semelhança de pressupostos teóricos subjacentes tanto a um discurso que articula a concepção burguesa das relações sociais, criado para o controle da c/asse operária, quanto a seu suposto oponente, que articularia a concepção socialista e que, explicitamente, estaria desenvolvendo o ponto de vista marxista. Com esse objetivo, cotejo os discursos de Getúlio Vargas (pronunciados nos anos de 1946 e 1947) com os quase contemporâneos discursos de Luis Carlos Prestes (escritos em 1945). Concluo com uma breve reflexão a respeito da origem desses pressupostos no interior do movimento comunista internacional.

Vanguarda Socialista, jornal editado por Mário Pedrosa no Rio de Janeiro, de 1945 a 1948, elabora uma proposta política socialista e democrática como alternativa à concepção bolchevique, que acredita superada pela história. Nessa medida, a questão russa encontra-se no centro das preocupações do grupo. Este artigo procura não só analisar a explicação do jornal para as origens da burocracia na URSS, mostrando as contradições que a perpassam, como também estabelecer a filiação do grupo às idéias de Rosa Luxemburgo, na tentativa de esclarecer as referidas contradições.

Procura-se sugerir que se Rosa é uma personagem tão rica e interessante, isso deve-se ao amálgama, existente na sua formação, entre a Bildungsbürgertum e a atmosfera revolucionária proveniente da Rússia.

A partir de reflexão sobre uma hipotética transição do capitalismo em sua natureza manufatureira ao socialismo, procura-se deixar marcada a razão pela qual, seguindo a proposta de Marx, essa transição exige que a produção se realize sob a égide da maquinaria. Consegue-se, como parte dessa reflexão, identificar, para o caso da manufatura, um trade-off entre eficiência produtiva e humanização das atividades de trabalho. Procura-se esclarecer que, dada a natureza do taylorismo-fordismo como reinvenção da manufatura, o exercício de início especulativo passa a ter sentido histórico. Busca-se argumentar que a ampla assimilação do taylorismo-fordismo pela experiência de implantação do socialismo na União Soviética a aprisionou ao mencionado trade-off , fazendo com que a primeira experiência de superação do capitalismo se impregnasse perversamente da mediocridade imanente ao taylorismo-fordismo. Finalmente, são feitos rápidos comentários acerca dos desdobramentos da recente automação de base microeletrônica sobre a natureza de um projeto socialista.
