[spa] Este texto forma parte de un proyecto de investigación Los efectos de los cambios sociales en el trabajo y la vida profesional de los docentes universitarios, parcialmente financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (SEJ2006-01876), en el que nos planteamos explorar los cambios los ámbitos de la legislación, laorganización institucional, la investigación, la gestión y la docencia en los últimos treinta años. El principal objetivo del estudio era profundizar en nuestra comprensión sobre el impacto del cambio económico, social, cultural, tecnológico y laboral que están experimentando las universidades españolas en la vida y la identidad profesional del personal docente e investigador, teniendo en cuenta el contexto nacional y europeo. Estapublicación recoge la 24 historias de vida profesional realizas con o sobre otros tantos docentes universitarios. Sus relatos analizados y contextualizados, significan una contribución significativa al conocimiento basado en la investigación sobre el saber profesional y la experiencia laboral en las universidades españolas, y en consecuencia, a nuestra comprensión sobre cómo los académicos se están enfrentando con los cambios actuales.

Sabkha and deep burial set tings are the most com mon sites where diagenetic anhydrite forms. In a sabkha setting, displacive facies (iso lated nodules, bed ded nodules, enterolithic levels) of early diagenetic or primary anhydrite are generated (Shearman, 1966; Hardie, 1967). These anhydrite facies are commonly foundat the top of shoal ing cycles representing the evolution from subaqueous depositional conditions at the base (carbonates, lutites) to exposure conditions at the top where in ter stitially-grown gypsum/anhydrite de velops ( sabkha cy cles). In a deep burial setting, gypsum transforms to tally to anhydrite with in creas ing temperature and lithostatic pressure (Murray, 1964). Al though this mineral transformation usually preserves the depositional gypsum facies, a significant textural change is in volved in other cases, resulting in replacive anhydrite with a nodular-mosaic or"chicken-wire" fabric (Warren, 2006). In the two settings, how ever, the size of the individual anhydrite nodules is relatively small, rarely reaching some tens of centimetres across. More over, bedding is preserved or little disturbed, al though minor de formation is caused by the displacive sabkha nodules.

This mineral is present in two boreholes recently drilled in the Emet borate district (Mio-cene; western Anatolia , Turkey). The evaporitic succession in these boreholes is mainly formed of a glauber ite-probertiteal-ternation. We suggest the name"emetite", after the town of Emet, for the new sulphate mineral, although the fine crystal size hinders the appropriate chemical and crystallographic characterization required to propose it as a new mineral to the International Mineralogical Association. .

L’article presenta una síntesi de les principals conclusions sobre Menors Migrants No Acompanyats, les seves característiques, els perfils existents i la invisibilitat social que els afecta no només com immigrants sinó també com a menors d’edat. Conclusions extretes de la investigació estatal realitzada sobre aquests i aquestes menors pel Grup d’Investigació IFAM (Infància i Família en Ambients Multiculturals). D’aquesta manera s’aporta informació descriptiva sobre aquest fenomen migratori, però també apunts per a la reflexió. S’inclou la perspectiva de gènere com a via per visibilitzar les menors de les quals menys coneixement es disposa al món acadèmic i a la societat en general.

Purpose This paper aims to analyse various aspects of an academic social network: the profile of users, the reasons for its use, its perceived benefits and the use of other social media for scholarly purposes. Design/methodology/approach The authors examined the profiles of the users of an academic social network. The users were affiliated with 12 universities. The following were recorded for each user: sex, the number of documents uploaded, the number of followers, and the number of people being followed. In addition, a survey was sent to the individuals who had an email address in their profile. Findings Half of the users of the social network were academics and a third were PhD students. Social sciences scholars accounted for nearly half of all users. Academics used the service to get in touch with other scholars, disseminate research results and follow other scholars. Other widely employed social media included citation indexes, document creation, edition and sharing tools and communication tools. Users complained about the lack of support for the utilisation of these tools. Research limitations/implications The results are based on a single case study. Originality/value This study provides new insights on the impact of social media in academic contexts by analysing the user profiles and benefits of a social network service that is specifically targeted at the academic community.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the breed and of the addition of bioactive substances to forage on the color of smoked pork loin. Two pig breeds (Polish Landrace and the crossbreed Polish Landrace x Duroc), three types of bioactive components (organic selenium; 2% of canola oil and 1% of flaxseed oil; and 2% of flaxseed oil and 1% of canola oil), and a control treatment were evaluated. Computer image analysis included the color assessment of muscle, fat, connective tissues, and smoked loin surface. For Polish Landrace, selenium supplementation caused higher values of red, green, and blue color components of the muscle tissue, which were lower for the crossbreed. However, there was no difference in the color components of loin fat tissue of the Polish Landrace breed due to selenium supplementation. In the case of oil supplementation, values of the color components of the muscle tissue for the Polish Landrace x Duroc crossbreed were also lower. The color components of muscle, fat, connective tissues, and smoked loin surface depend on the pig breed and on the bioactive compounds added to the forage.

Summary This dissertation explores how stakeholder dialogue influences corporate processes, and speculates about the potential of this phenomenon - particularly with actors, like non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other representatives of civil society, which have received growing attention against a backdrop of increasing globalisation and which have often been cast in an adversarial light by firms - as a source of teaming and a spark for innovation in the firm. The study is set within the context of the introduction of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in Europe. Its significance lies in the fact that scientific developments and new technologies are being generated at an unprecedented rate in an era where civil society is becoming more informed, more reflexive, and more active in facilitating or blocking such new developments, which could have the potential to trigger widespread changes in economies, attitudes, and lifestyles, and address global problems like poverty, hunger, climate change, and environmental degradation. In the 1990s, companies using biotechnology to develop and offer novel products began to experience increasing pressure from civil society to disclose information about the risks associated with the use of biotechnology and GMOs, in particular. Although no harmful effects for humans or the environment have been factually demonstrated even to date (2008), this technology remains highly-contested and its introduction in Europe catalysed major companies to invest significant financial and human resources in stakeholder dialogue. A relatively new phenomenon at the time, with little theoretical backing, dialogue was seen to reflect a move towards greater engagement with stakeholders, commonly defined as those "individuals or groups with which. business interacts who have a 'stake', or vested interest in the firm" (Carroll, 1993:22) with whom firms are seen to be inextricably embedded (Andriof & Waddock, 2002). Regarding the organisation of this dissertation, Chapter 1 (Introduction) describes the context of the study, elaborates its significance for academics and business practitioners as an empirical work embedded in a sector at the heart of the debate on corporate social responsibility (CSR). Chapter 2 (Literature Review) traces the roots and evolution of CSR, drawing on Stakeholder Theory, Institutional Theory, Resource Dependence Theory, and Organisational Learning to establish what has already been developed in the literature regarding the stakeholder concept, motivations for engagement with stakeholders, the corporate response to external constituencies, and outcomes for the firm in terms of organisational learning and change. I used this review of the literature to guide my inquiry and to develop the key constructs through which I viewed the empirical data that was gathered. In this respect, concepts related to how the firm views itself (as a victim, follower, leader), how stakeholders are viewed (as a source of pressure and/or threat; as an asset: current and future), corporate responses (in the form of buffering, bridging, boundary redefinition), and types of organisational teaming (single-loop, double-loop, triple-loop) and change (first order, second order, third order) were particularly important in building the key constructs of the conceptual model that emerged from the analysis of the data. Chapter 3 (Methodology) describes the methodology that was used to conduct the study, affirms the appropriateness of the case study method in addressing the research question, and describes the procedures for collecting and analysing the data. Data collection took place in two phases -extending from August 1999 to October 2000, and from May to December 2001, which functioned as `snapshots' in time of the three companies under study. The data was systematically analysed and coded using ATLAS/ti, a qualitative data analysis tool, which enabled me to sort, organise, and reduce the data into a manageable form. Chapter 4 (Data Analysis) contains the three cases that were developed (anonymised as Pioneer, Helvetica, and Viking). Each case is presented in its entirety (constituting a `within case' analysis), followed by a 'cross-case' analysis, backed up by extensive verbatim evidence. Chapter 5 presents the research findings, outlines the study's limitations, describes managerial implications, and offers suggestions for where more research could elaborate the conceptual model developed through this study, as well as suggestions for additional research in areas where managerial implications were outlined. References and Appendices are included at the end. This dissertation results in the construction and description of a conceptual model, grounded in the empirical data and tied to existing literature, which portrays a set of elements and relationships deemed important for understanding the impact of stakeholder engagement for firms in terms of organisational learning and change. This model suggests that corporate perceptions about the nature of stakeholder influence the perceived value of stakeholder contributions. When stakeholders are primarily viewed as a source of pressure or threat, firms tend to adopt a reactive/defensive posture in an effort to manage stakeholders and protect the firm from sources of outside pressure -behaviour consistent with Resource Dependence Theory, which suggests that firms try to get control over extemal threats by focussing on the relevant stakeholders on whom they depend for critical resources, and try to reverse the control potentially exerted by extemal constituencies by trying to influence and manipulate these valuable stakeholders. In situations where stakeholders are viewed as a current strategic asset, firms tend to adopt a proactive/offensive posture in an effort to tap stakeholder contributions and connect the organisation to its environment - behaviour consistent with Institutional Theory, which suggests that firms try to ensure the continuing license to operate by internalising external expectations. In instances where stakeholders are viewed as a source of future value, firms tend to adopt an interactive/innovative posture in an effort to reduce or widen the embedded system and bring stakeholders into systems of innovation and feedback -behaviour consistent with the literature on Organisational Learning, which suggests that firms can learn how to optimize their performance as they develop systems and structures that are more adaptable and responsive to change The conceptual model moreover suggests that the perceived value of stakeholder contribution drives corporate aims for engagement, which can be usefully categorised as dialogue intentions spanning a continuum running from low-level to high-level to very-high level. This study suggests that activities aimed at disarming critical stakeholders (`manipulation') providing guidance and correcting misinformation (`education'), being transparent about corporate activities and policies (`information'), alleviating stakeholder concerns (`placation'), and accessing stakeholder opinion ('consultation') represent low-level dialogue intentions and are experienced by stakeholders as asymmetrical, persuasive, compliance-gaining activities that are not in line with `true' dialogue. This study also finds evidence that activities aimed at redistributing power ('partnership'), involving stakeholders in internal corporate processes (`participation'), and demonstrating corporate responsibility (`stewardship') reflect high-level dialogue intentions. This study additionally finds evidence that building and sustaining high-quality, trusted relationships which can meaningfully influence organisational policies incline a firm towards the type of interactive, proactive processes that underpin the development of sustainable corporate strategies. Dialogue intentions are related to type of corporate response: low-level intentions can lead to buffering strategies; high-level intentions can underpin bridging strategies; very high-level intentions can incline a firm towards boundary redefinition. The nature of corporate response (which encapsulates a firm's posture towards stakeholders, demonstrated by the level of dialogue intention and the firm's strategy for dealing with stakeholders) favours the type of learning and change experienced by the organisation. This study indicates that buffering strategies, where the firm attempts to protect itself against external influences and cant' out its existing strategy, typically lead to single-loop learning, whereby the firm teams how to perform better within its existing paradigm and at most, improves the performance of the established system - an outcome associated with first-order change. Bridging responses, where the firm adapts organisational activities to meet external expectations, typically leads a firm to acquire new behavioural capacities characteristic of double-loop learning, whereby insights and understanding are uncovered that are fundamentally different from existing knowledge and where stakeholders are brought into problem-solving conversations that enable them to influence corporate decision-making to address shortcomings in the system - an outcome associated with second-order change. Boundary redefinition suggests that the firm engages in triple-loop learning, where the firm changes relations with stakeholders in profound ways, considers problems from a whole-system perspective, examining the deep structures that sustain the system, producing innovation to address chronic problems and develop new opportunities - an outcome associated with third-order change. This study supports earlier theoretical and empirical studies {e.g. Weick's (1979, 1985) work on self-enactment; Maitlis & Lawrence's (2007) and Maitlis' (2005) work and Weick et al's (2005) work on sensegiving and sensemaking in organisations; Brickson's (2005, 2007) and Scott & Lane's (2000) work on organisational identity orientation}, which indicate that corporate self-perception is a key underlying factor driving the dynamics of organisational teaming and change. Such theorizing has important implications for managerial practice; namely, that a company which perceives itself as a 'victim' may be highly inclined to view stakeholders as a source of negative influence, and would therefore be potentially unable to benefit from the positive influence of engagement. Such a selfperception can blind the firm from seeing stakeholders in a more positive, contributing light, which suggests that such firms may not be inclined to embrace external sources of innovation and teaming, as they are focussed on protecting the firm against disturbing environmental influences (through buffering), and remain more likely to perform better within an existing paradigm (single-loop teaming). By contrast, a company that perceives itself as a 'leader' may be highly inclined to view stakeholders as a source of positive influence. On the downside, such a firm might have difficulty distinguishing when stakeholder contributions are less pertinent as it is deliberately more open to elements in operating environment (including stakeholders) as potential sources of learning and change, as the firm is oriented towards creating space for fundamental change (through boundary redefinition), opening issues to entirely new ways of thinking and addressing issues from whole-system perspective. A significant implication of this study is that potentially only those companies who see themselves as a leader are ultimately able to tap the innovation potential of stakeholder dialogue.

Project No. 369 (''Comparative Evolution of PeriTethyan Rift Basins'') of the International Geological Correlation Program produced a new palaeotectonic-palaeo-geographic atlas of the western PeriTethyan domain. The atlas contains more than two hundred new maps and documents grouped in nine regional sets (Iberia, Polish Trough, Eastern European and Scythian Platforms, Moesian Platform, Levant, Arabian Platform,, Northern Africa, NE Africa-NW Arabia, Libya-Pelagian Shelf plus a set of reconstructions for the whole western Tethys. The area, considered in the atlas stretches. from west to east, from the eastern Atlantic shores to the Urals and, from north to south, from the Baltic shield to equatorial Africa; the time span covered extends from the Late. Carboniferous to the Present. The dataset, resulting from an extensive cooperation between industrial and academic sources, is accessible interactively on a CD-ROM (Stampfli et al., 2001a) and includes legend, timetable, short explanatory notes, full references and additional supporting data. This dataset provides information on the development of the Tethyan realm in space and time. In particular, the relation between the Variscan and Cimmerian cycles in the Mediterranean realm is illustrated by numerous palaeogeographic and palaeotectonic maps.

Tässä työssä tutkittiin natriumsilikaatin (vesilasi) liuotukseen ja suodatukseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Työssä pyrittiin optimoimaan natriumsilikaatin liuotus- ja suodatuskapasiteetti J. M. Huber Finland Oy:n Haminan tehtaan liuotuslaitoksella. Kirjallisuusosassa perehdyttiin kiinteän natriumsilikaatin ja natriumsilikaatin vesiliuoksen ominaisuuksiin, sekä käsiteltiin soveltuvin osin liuotuksen ja suodatuksen teoriaa. Kokeellisessa osassa vertailtiin kahden eri valmistajan natriumsilikaatteja toisiinsa, sekä pyrittiin löytämään molemmille laseille optimaalisimmat prosessiparametrit liuotus- ja suodatuskokeiden avulla. Erilaisia prosessiparametreja ja ajotapoja testattiin tehdasmittakaavan koeajoilla todellisilla prosessilaitteilla. Eri natriumsilikaattien vertailu tehtiin tehdasmittakaavan koeajojen sekä laboratorioanalyysien avulla. Koeajojen tulosten perusteella Taavetista toimitettu vesilasi liukenee nopeammin kuin Puolasta toimitettu ostolasi, mutta puolalaisesta lasista liuotettu silikaatti suodattuu helpommin kuin Taavetin lasista liuotettu silikaatti. Liukenemisnopeuden eroon selitettävissä Taavetin lasin suuremmalla ominaispinta-alalla sekä hauraammalla rakenteella. Suodatuseroon ei löytynyt yksiselitteistä syytä, joten sen löytämiseksi vaadittaisiin jatkotutkimuksia. Kokeiden perusteellaparas keino puolalaisen lasin liuotuksen nopeuttamiseen olisi pitää liuotussäiliön lasiylimäärä mahdollisimman korkeana jokaisessa panoksessa ja nopeuttaa liuotussäiliön panostusta lasin ja veden yhtäaikaisella annostelulla. Tulosten perusteella paras keino Taavetin lasista liuotetun silikaatin suodatuksen helpottamiseen olisi laskea liuoksen tavoitetiheyttä nykyisestä arvostaan, jolloin viskositeetti pienenee merkittävästi ja suodatus onnistuu liuotuslaitoksen kapasiteetin kannalta paremmin. Edellä mainituilla ajotavoilla tehtyjen koeajojen perusteella, molemmilla laseilla on mahdollista päästä 150 MT/d tavoitekapasiteettiin, mutta varmin tapa kyseisen kapasiteetin saavuttamiseksi olisi lisätä suodatuskapasiteettia investoimalla toiseen silikaattisuodattimeen.

Työn tarkoituksena on tutkia prosessinosturiliiketoiminnan rajatun arvoketjun ja - verkoston kustannuksia. Tavoitteena on selvittää valittujen vaihtoehtoisten valmistuspaikkojen toimintojen pohjalta yleinen arvoketju kustannuskertymineen. Lisäksi tavoitteena on kehittää taulukkolaskentaohjelmistoon perustuva laskentamalli tai perustyökalu kustannusten kasautumisen arviointiin. Edelleen pyrkimyksenä on löytää rakennetusta mallin avulla kehitys- ja jatkotoimenpiteiden kohteita. Työssä perehdytään aluksi arvoketju -viitekehykseen ja niihin seikkoihin joista se muodostuu kirjallisuudesta löytyvän tiedon pohjalta. Arvoketjuajattelu on yksinkertaisimmillaan yrityksen toimintojen tarkastelua kilpailukyvyn ja -edun näkökulmasta. Liiketoiminnan kehittyminen verkostomaiseksi vaatii kuitenkin laajemman ¿ arvoverkosto - tarkastelunäkökulman. Toisaalta liiketoiminnan pidemmän aikavälin kilpailukyvyn suunnittelu edellyttää syvällisempää arvoketjujen ja toimintojen tarkastelua ja hallintaa, jolloin tarvitaan kehittyneempiä laskentatoimen menetelmiä ja kustannuslaskentajärjestelmiä. Tutkimuksen empiirisessä osiossa arvoketjuajattelua ja arvoverkostoviitekehystä sekä kustannuslaskentamenetelmiä sovelletaan käytännön tapauksiin. Tulokset osoittavat tutkimukseen valittujen neljän valmistuspaikan kustannuskertymän ja -rakenteen. Kustannuskertymältään alhaisimmaksi osoittautui tuotantolaitos Saudi-Arabiassa, kunloppuasiakkaan sijainti on Qatarissa. Puolalainen tehdas osoittautui puolestaankilpailukykyisimmäksi, kun nosturin toimitusosoite on Italian pohjoisosaan. Tulosten perusteella kustannusrakenteiden suurimmat kustannuserät ovat kuljetus-, teräsrakenteen valmistus- ja suunnittelutoiminnot.

Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää Venäjän, Slovakian, Tsekin, Romanian, Bulgarian, Unkarin ja Puolan osakemarkkinoiden heikkojen ehtojen tehokkuutta. Tämä tutkielma on kvantitatiivinen tutkimus ja päiväkohtaiset indeksin sulkemisarvot kerättiin Datastreamin tietokannasta. Data kerättiin pörssien ensimmäisestä kaupankäyntipäivästä aina vuoden 2006 elokuun loppuun saakka. Analysoinnin tehostamiseksi dataa tutkittiin koko aineistolla, sekä kahdella aliperiodilla. Osakemarkkinoiden tehokkuutta on testattu neljällä tilastollisella metodilla, mukaan lukien autokorrelaatiotesti ja epäparametrinen runs-testi. Tavoitteena on myös selvittääesiintyykö kyseisillä markkinoilla viikonpäiväanomalia. Viikonpäiväanomalian esiintymistä tutkitaan käyttämällä pienimmän neliösumman menetelmää (OLS). Viikonpäiväanomalia on löydettävissä kaikilta edellä mainituilta osakemarkkinoilta paitsi Tsekin markkinoilta. Merkittävää, positiivista tai negatiivista autokorrelaatiota, on löydettävissä kaikilta osakemarkkinoilta, myös Ljung-Box testi osoittaa kaikkien markkinoiden tehottomuutta täydellä periodilla. Osakemarkkinoiden satunnaiskulku hylätään runs-testin perusteella kaikilta muilta paitsi Slovakian osakemarkkinoilla, ainakin tarkastellessa koko aineistoa tai ensimmäistä aliperiodia. Aineisto ei myöskään ole normaalijakautunut minkään indeksin tai aikajakson kohdalla. Nämä havainnot osoittavat, että kyseessä olevat markkinat eivät ole heikkojen ehtojen mukaan tehokkaita

Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan julkisesti noteerattujen pankkien riskienhallintaraportoinnin nykykäytäntöä Puolassa. Tutkimus jakaantuu kahteen osaan: Tutkimuksen ensimmäisessä osassa esitellään pankkitoimintaa, pankkitoiminnan riskejä ja riskienhallintaa. Pankkitoiminnan riskejä ovat luotto- ja markkinariskit, lisäksi puhutaan operatiivisista ja ympäristöriskeistä. Tutkimuksen toisessa osassa selvitetään ja kuvataan sitä, millaista on tutkimuksen kohdeyritysten riskienhallinta ja riskienhallintaraportointi, tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on myös verrata pankkien riskienhallintaraportointia keskenään. Tutkimuksen kohteena on 13 Varsovan pörssissä listattua pankkia. Tutkimusaineistona käytetään näiden pankkien vuoden 2005 vuosikertomuksia. Kysymyksessä on laadullinen tapaustutkimus, jolle on tyypillistä kuvaileva ja selittävä tutkimusote. Aineiston analyysimenetelmänä on käytetty pattern matchingiä, jonka avulla tutkitaan aineistosta löytyviä riskienhallintaraportoinnin osatekijöitä/indikaattoreita ja verrataan niitä oletettuihin malleihin. Tutkittujen riskienhallintaraporttien perusteella voidaan todeta, että pankkitoiminnan ydinriskeistä: luotto-, korko-, valuutta- ja likviditeettiriskeistä raportoidaan hyvin. Sen sijaan puutteita löytyy operatiivisten ja ympäristöriskien raportoinnista. Suurin osa pankeista raportoi operatiivisista riskeistä, mutta raportointi on pintapuolista ja analysointi puuttuu. Ympäristöriskeistä raportointi ei ole yleistä. Raportoinnin laajuus ja informatiivisuus vaihtelevat pankkien kesken: Suuret, kansainväliset pankkikonsernit raportoivat riskeistään laajasti ja informatiivisesti, kun taas pienemmillä, kansallisilla pankeilla raportointi jää usean pankin kohdalla suppeaksi. Syitä raportoinnin eroille on monia: Yksi syistä on IFRS-standardien vakiintumaton käyttö pienimmillä, kansallisilla pankeilla verrattuna kansainvälisiin pankkikonserneihin. Kansainvälisillä pankkikonserneilla on paremmat valmiudet raportoida riskienhallinnastaan verrattuna pienimpiin pankkeihin, jotka julkaisivat tilinpäätöksensä ensimmäistä kertaa IFRS-standardien mukaisesti vuonna 2005. Yhtenä selittävänä tekijänäraportoinnin eroille voidaan myös mainita omistuspohja: sijoittajainformaation merkitys on korostunut erityisesti organisaatioissa, joissa on laaja, kansainvälinen omistuspohja. Sen sijaan valtio-omisteisessa yrityksessä sijoittajainformaation merkitys on vähäisempi. Myös yrityskulttuuri vaikuttaa siihen, missä laajuudessa, ja mitä tietoa yritys antaa julkisuuteen. Solitary fibrous tumors are rare neoplasms of mesenchymal origin that have been reported in various other extrathoracic sites, including the liver. We present a case series of three malignant solitary fibrous tumors of the liver, occurring in two women 74 and 80 years old and one 65-year-old man. No clinical features were predictive of malignancy except the large sizes and synchronous presence of lung metastases in two of the three cases. Histological examinations revealed the presence of high pleomorphic cellularity with nuclear atypia, necrosis and high mitotic ratios. All patients died of disease progression.

This paper presents the results of a survey of academics affiliated to the universities that are members of the Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia (CBUC) and an analysis of the availability in the libraries of these universities of the references cited in a sample of articles published by these academics. The results reflect the major importance that researchers assign to scholarly journals as the main source of scientific information. Most state that they use electronic journals either exclusively or in any case more than print journals, a preference that is higher among younger scholars. With regard to frequency of reading, four out of ten researchers state that they read journals virtually every day, while nine out of ten report that they do so at least once a week. Scholars claim that the obstacles they face when trying to download an article are related to the lack of subscriptions. However, the availability study showed that most of the articles cited in their publications are available at least at one of the CBUC libraries. Though most researchers keep a copy of the articles they consult, just over a third of them use some kind of reference management software.
