O contexto, o tempo de mudana. Ainda que o no fosse, falar de gesto de recursos humanos, falar de pessoas, falar em mudana (ou mudanas). A economia mundial que dita o presente e o futuro das organizaes, privadas ou pblicas, com ou sem fins lucrativos, pequenas, mdias e grandes. Quando, em 2011, foi chumbado o quarto projeto do Programa de Estabilidade e Crescimento, vivia-se em Portugal um perodo crtico, ao qual no era alheia a conjuntura internacional de recesso econmica. No domnio da Administrao Pblica, procurava-se redesenhar as organizaes, imprimir-lhes uma gesto mais privatstica, de otimizao de recursos e controlo de custos. Hoje, sabe-se que aquela rejeio do programa poltico governamental teria outras consequncias, as que atualmente os portugueses vm sentindo. um perodo de mudanas radicais, sem precedentes. Como lideram ou como administram os responsveis pelas organizaes, no contexto atual? Quais as qualidades de liderana que imperam em situaes de crise e de austeridade? Como reagem lderes e liderados em perodos de recesso ou adversidade? E, sobretudo, como falham uns e so bem-sucedidos outros? Desde logo, h que reconhecer a importncia e valorizar o capital humano: atrair, reter e desenvolver. Neste trabalho, procuramos responder aos crescentes interesse e preocupao em redesenhar, reformar e melhorar a gesto na administrao pblica. Da o interesse pela motivao e a sua relao com o estilo de liderana adotado nas organizaes deste setor, fator determinante para o comprometimento, a eficcia e a produtividade no trabalho. Mais concretamente, o objetivo deste estudo compreender a relao entre o sistema de gesto que predomina nas entidades responsveis pela recolha e gesto de resduos do concelho da Maia e a motivao dos seus colaboradores, assim como a satisfao dos mesmos com a sua chefia. A metodologia de investigao utilizada orienta-se para a abordagem quantitativa, recorrendo-se a tcnicas e instrumentos de natureza quantitativa, tais como o questionrio de escala de resposta tipo Likert, por considerarmos ser a mais ajustada s pretenses desta investigao.

Cover of medium and large defects of the dorsum of the hand remains a substantial surgical challenge that often requires free tissue transfer. We report the case of a 28-year-old male who presented with necrosis of most of the dorsum of his dominant hand after an iatrogenic injury. A large Becker flap was raised to cover the entire defect. However, venous insufficiency was noted intraoperatively. The flap was turbocharged by performing a venous anastomosis between the flap and the recipient site, resulting in complete survival of the flap. The authors conclude that the turbocharged Becker flap can be a good alternative for expeditiously covering large defects of the dorsum of the hand without having to resort to free tissue transfer.

This paper is a joined publication of the Depts. of Genetics and of Technology, of the E. S. A. "Luiz de Queiroz", Universidade de So Paulo, and deals with the variation of the percentage oil content in the whole seeds, the embryos and the seed-coat of 28 varieties of castor-beans (Ricinus communis, L.). Primarily, the authors, as a justification of this paper, make reference to the applications which castor-oil has in industry, medicine, etc. In accordance with the weight of 100 seeds, the varieties of castor-beans were classified into 3 classes : small seeds (100 seeds less than 30 g), medium seeds (100 seeds between 30 g and 60) and large seeds (100 seeds more than 60 g). The percentage of oil in the seed, embryo and seed-coat, the dimensions of the seeds and the weight of 100 seeds are given for every variety in table 1. In order to obtain an estimate of the variability for the methods of determination of the oil percentage, in the 3 differents parts of the seeds and also in the 3 groups of seeds, the coefficient of variability was calculate (table 2). It is showed that the variation in the seed and embryo is low and that in the seed-coat is very high. The analysis of variance, with regard to the difference among the 3 types of seeds (small, medium and large), among the 3 parts of the seed (whole seed, embryo and seed-coat) and residual error, is given in table 3. Only, the oil content of whole seeds among types of seeds was significant at the 5% level. The t test among the correspondent means is not significant for the difference between medium and large seeds is significant between both these types (medium and large) and small seeds. The fiducial limits in relation to the mean of the oil percentage in the 3 differents types of seed, show that there is one variety (n. 1013-2), which has a percentage of oil, in the medium type of seed, significantly at the 5% level (table 4), higher than the general mean. Since the distribution of the percentage of oil in the seedcoat is discontinuous, 5 groups were established (table 5). All the differences between groups are significant (table 6). For practical purposes, when we have to remove the seed coat, one should eliminate those varieties which loose at least 3% of oil by this procedure. There is a significant linear correlation at 5% level between the percentage of oil in the seed and in the embryo, of the smali and medium type of seeds (table 7), and also, when taking the 3 types together (lower part of table 7), one finds that the same is true. Also, the correlation between the percentages of oil in the embryo and in the seed-coat of the 3 types together is significant at 5% level. According to the results obtained in relation to the percentage in 28 varieties studied, it can be recommended, for breeding purposes, to work only with those varieties which belong to the medium and the large types of seeds.

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) (or Horton's disease) is a systemic disease affecting the vessels of medium and large sizes. The incidence increases with age (the disease develops rarely before age 50) and the etiology remains unknown. Clinical manifestations may vary (including asthenia, temporal headache, visual disturbances, etc.) and GCA can potentially lead to dramatic consequences (permanent loss of vision). Although some anomalies in the investigations may help in the diagnosis of GCA, research and confirmation of the diagnosis of GCA may be difficult, especially when the symptoms presented by patients are spread out in time and appear to be nonspecific at first.

Background: Endothelial progenitor-derived cells (EPC) are a cell therapy tool in peripheral arterial disease and for re-endothelialization of bypasses and stents. Objective: To assess EPC behavior under flow conditions normally found in vivo. Results: EPC were isolated from human cord blood, cultured on compliant tubes and exposed in an in vitro flow system mimicking hemodynamic environments normally found in medium and large arteries. EPC exposed for 24 h to unidirectional (0.3 0.1 or 6 3 dynes/cm(2)) shear stress oriented along flow direction, while those exposed to bidirectional shear stress (0.3 3 dynes/cm(2)) or static conditions had random orientation. Under bidirectional flow, tissue factor (TF) activity and mRNA expression were significantly increased (2.5- and 7.0-fold) compared to static conditions. Under low shear unidirectional flow TF mRNA increased 4.9 0.5-fold. Similar flow-induced increases were observed for TF in mature umbilical vein-derived endothelial cells. Expression of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA), urokinase (u-PA) and monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP1) were reduced by 40-60% in late outgrowth endothelial progenitor-derived cells (LO-EPC) exposed to any flow environment, while MCP1, but not t-PA or u-PA, was decreased in HUVEC. Conclusions: Flow, in particular bidirectional, modifies the hemostatic balance in LO-EPC with increased TF and decreased plasminogen activator expression.

The theme of the research is the development of the domain of marketing knowledge in the design of agricultural machinery. It is developed throughout the design of agricultural machinery in order to identify the corporate and customers needs and to develop strategies to satisfy these needs. The central problem of the research questions which marketing tools to apply on pre-development process of farm machinery, in order to increase the market value of the products and of the company and, consequently, generate competitive advantage to the manufacturers of agricultural machinery. As methodology, it was developed bibliographical research and multicase study of the development process of agricultural machinery developed by small, medium and large companies and the academy. As a result, a marketing reference model was elaborated for the pre-development stage of agricultural machinery, which outlines the activities, tasks, mechanisms and controls that can be used in strategic planning and in products planning of agricultural machinery manufacturers, contributing to explain the explicit knowledge in the marketing field.

Value-based selling is a salesperson behavioral mode which concentrates on generating superior customer value. Although service dominant logic emphasizes customer value as a central tenet for achieving strategic objectives, sales management literature has predominantly circumvented the subject matter of customer value. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the distinctiveness and positive sales performance outcomes of value-based selling. Additionally, performance outcomes of value-based selling are contrasted with other key sales behaviors, selling skills and motivational orientations. As a part of this thesis, large-scale survey of 730 respondents was collected. The survey was tailored for the needs of a value-based selling research group led by Ph.D. Harri Terho. The research group used convenience sampling to select the salespeople of 25 medium- and large-scale companies in Finland which currently either practice value-based selling or consider developing these activities. This thesis contains three key findings: value-based selling is established as a distinct sales behavior, it relates directly and positively to salesperson performance and it explains the link between customer-oriented selling and salesperson performance. Value-based selling relates to salesperson performance especially in the following GICS-sectors: energy, industrials and materials. However, relationship selling relates to performance strongest in the energy sector and adaptive selling in industrials sector. In sum, it is evident that actively crafting customer value is a successful sales behavior in many business-to-business marketing environments while other sales behaviors, excluding customer-oriented selling, still uphold their significance.

The use of bovine pericardium as a urethral patch to substitute a ventral segment of canine urethras was studied. Healing, epithelial growth, urethral permeability, fistulas, and calcification were analyzed. Thirty male mongrel dogs of medium and large size underwent resection of a ventral segment of the medial urethra measuring 2.0 x 0.5 cm, which was replaced with a bovine pericardium graft, treated with buffered glutaraldehyde and preserved in formaldehyde. Two running sutures of polygalactin 5-0 were applied, one on each side of the patch. The corpus spongiosum was closed with uninterrupted suture and the skin with interrupted suture of polygalactin 5-0. Six months later, the animals were examined and sacrificed under anesthesia. Retrograde urethrograms showed that the urethral healing was complete in six of the 30 animals, without stenosis, fistulas or dilations. Microscopic examination showed complete epithelization of these six urethras. The remaining 24 animals presented urethrocutaneous fistulas without stenosis, demonstrated by urethral catheterism using a 10-Fr plastic catheter. These data show that a successful urethral reconstruction of the penile urethra was possible in only 20% of the operated animals. Infection and leakage may be the cause of the urethrocutaneous fistulas present in 80% of cases. Further studies are necessary to determine whether such fistulas are avoidable. If they are, the bovine pericardium may well be an option in the treatment of urethral lesions in dogs.

Lorsque lanesthsie par inhalation ne peut tre utilise chez le rat, la combinaison de ktamine et de xylazine est lalternative la plus frquemment utilise. Les doses administres peuvent varier selon le protocole exprimental. En prsence de fivre, dinfections ou de processus tumoral accompagn de fivre, la pharmacocintique de ces drogues peut tre modifie. Ce projet porte sur lvaluation des changements physiologiques, hmatologiques, biochimiques et pharmacocintiques chez le rat Sprague Dawley lors danesthsie avec le mlange ktamine-xylazine suite ladministration de trois doses diffrentes de lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Aprs ladministration de LPS, une anesthsie la ktamine-xylazine fut induite chez des rats Sprague Dawley. Des prlvements sanguins priodiques ainsi que des mesures des paramtres physiologiques furent effectus afin dvaluer leffet du LPS sur la pharmacocintique des deux drogues ainsi que sur les paramtres biochimiques et hmatologiques. Les diffrentes doses de LPS ont caus certaines modifications notamment en produisant une baisse marque de la saturation en oxygne et de lalbumine srique, une augmentation de la dure danesthsie ainsi que des lsions hpatiques mineures. Les paramtres pharmacocintiques de la ktamine furent peu altrs par ladministration de LPS tandis quune diminution de la clairance et une augmentation de laire sous la courbe (AUC) furent observes pour la xylazine dans les groupes ayant reu les doses moyenne et leve de LPS. Ces rsultats montrent que les doses de xylazine doivent tre adaptes en prsence de LPS pour permettre une anesthsie de courte dure et des changements physiologiques et biochimiques moindres lorsquelle est administre avec de la ktamine.

The results of a detailed study of the propionylation of anisole over various medium and large pore zeolites such as H-ZSM-5, H-beta, H-Na-beta. H-mordenite. H-Y and H-RE- Y are presented and discussed. In addition, homogenous catalysts and amorphous Si02-Al2O3 are also included for comparison, The catalyst and process parameters are optimised to enhance the conversion of propionyl chloride(PC) and selectivity to 4-methoxypropiophenone(4-MOPP).

. The cotton mill industry is one of the important medium and large-scale industries in the State of Kerala. Due to the widespread development of the handloom industry in the State, there is an environment conducive to the growth of cotton spinning mills which produce yarn, the raw material required by the handloom industry. New spin ing mills are being commissioned. But the performance of the existing cotton spinning and weaving mills in the State is not quite satisfactory. Hence an analysis has been carried out into the profitability and financial position of the industry in Kerala. The objective of the study is to make a financial analysis of the industry covering various aspects such as cost structure, productivity, asset structure, financial structure and working capital management.

El proyecto que se quiere plantear es la creacin de una Plataforma electrnica a travs de la cual se pretende agrupar a los diferentes proveedores que intervienen en la cadena de abastecimiento de la comunidad logstica de San Antonio, abriendo la posibilidad de participacin de empresas grandes y pequeas y ms aun promoviendo la creacin de las mismas por parte de los ciudadanos de la regin, de esta manera, se eliminan las brechas asimtricas existentes entre la oferta y la demanda permitiendo que las empresas medianas y grandes accedan a ofertas y transacciones con empresas proveedoras medianas y pequeas. Dicho proyecto, tiene como objetivo general el consolidar los procesos de abastecimiento implementados por las empresas a travs de la organizacin y estandarizacin de los mismos mediante el uso del portal, planteado en el presente proyecto, como apoyo tecnolgico. Existen dos conceptos bsicos a analizar de manera terica dentro del proyecto, el primero de ellos es el de clster logstico-portuario, lo cuales son reconocidos como instrumentos importantes para el progreso del desarrollo industrial, innovacin, competitividad y crecimiento, tomando como ejemplos a los puertos de Valencia y Long Beach en la ciudad de Los ngeles. El segundo concepto es el de E-Procurement, el cual se desarrolla siguiendo los pasos bsicos de una cadena de abastecimiento tradicional, sin embargo, lo que genera un cambio real dentro de los procesos es el hecho que los procesos de cotizacin y seguimiento de proveedores se van a llevar a cabo a travs de una plataforma electrnica con base a las evaluaciones que se llevan a cabo por parte de las empresas demandantes de los productos o servicios ofrecidos por las compaas proveedoras. (Renko, 2011) De la misma manera, se tomaran varios proyectos de e-procurement desarrollados a nivel mundial como base comparativa y de apoyo para el presente proyecto tales como: HYDRA: Es un sistema que tiene su soporte en la web, el cual es orientado en el medio lo cual lo hace un sistema con una arquitectura hbrida, que posee tanto un diseo en capas como una estructura comprensiva para desarrollar integracin de negocios, colaboracin y monitoreo en la gestin de la cadena de suministro (Renko, 2011) IPT: BidNet ha proporcionado servicios de oferta de informacin a miles de proveedores y compradores de bienes en el mbito gubernamental por ms de 25 aos. (Bidnet, 2013) E-BUYPLACE: E-buyplace.com es el 1 especialista en SupplierRelationship Management que ha desarrollado un original y singular SRM 100% a travs de Internet. (e-buyplace, 2013) RosettaNet: La iniciativa RosettaNet anima a optimizar los procesos de la cadena de suministro mediante el establecimiento, implementacin y promocin de estndares abiertos en el mercado e-Business (AQS, Advance Quality Solutions, 2002)

El desarrollo del presente documento constituye una investigacin sobre las actitudes de los directivos frente a la adopcin del e-learning como herramienta de trabajo en las organizaciones de Bogot. Para ello se realiz una encuesta a 101 directivos, tomando como base el tipo de muestreo de conveniencia; esto con el objetivo de identificar sus actitudes frente al uso del e-learning y su influencia dentro de la organizacin. Como resultado se obtuvo que las actitudes de los directivos influencian en el uso de herramientas e-learning, as como tambin en las acciones que promueven su uso y en las actitudes de los empleados; por otro lado se identific que las creencias relacionadas con la apropiacin de herramientas e-learning y los factores facilitadores del uso de estas, influencian en las actitudes de los directivos. Lo anterior, corresponde a los anlisis llevados a cabo a partir de los resultados contrastados con los estudios empricos hallados y el marco terico desarrollado.
