Los sistemas sanitarios y sus profesionales se justifican en la medida que están al servicio de las personas y son capaces de dar respuesta a las necesidades de salud y a las expectativas de la comunidad. El reconocimiento a las enfermeras como un valor humano y profesional de primera magnitud dentro del sistema de salud de cualquier país, y en general a las profesiones sanitarias, se caracteriza por el compromiso, la vocación y el espíritu de servicio, y el mayor activo del sistema son los recursos humanos.

Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) plantean una nueva perspectiva en la integración de la información sanitaria, y un ejemplo de esto son las historias clínicas informatizadas (HCI) que han de permitir la disponibilidad y el acceso a los datos de salud de los pacientes en cualquier momento, lugar geográfico y nivel asistencial, posibilitando que el profesional de enfermería ofrezca cuidados más eficientes. En este sentido, un aspecto clave es la percepción que tienen los profesionales de enfermería acerca de la utilidad de la HCI en la atención primaria de salud (APS) como agentes de salud que participan en el proceso asistencial a los ciudadanos.

This study explored ethnic identity among 662 students (326 mestizos and 336 indigenous) from the Intercultural University of Chiapas (IUCh). Scholars suggest that ethnicity is more salient for ethnic minority adolescents than for adolescents who are members of the ethnic majority. The aims for this study were: 1) to determine the structure and validity of ethnic identity as measured by the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure in a sample of majority and minority ethnic groups from Intercultural University in Chiapas, and 2) to examine the variability of ethnic identity across ethnic groups. Specifically, it was hypothesized that the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure would show two factors, and that ethnic groups would differ on ethnic identity. The results supported the hypotheses

In the last years, an increase of the interest to develop educational practices in higher education, based on the approach of the reflective learning, is observed. Nevertheless, we scarcely find in our context researches or experiences that allow knowing students’ perceptions about this teaching and learning approach. We have developed an experience in the bachelor of Social Education at the University of Girona with the aim to contribute to the personal and professional development of future social educators in their initial training, using reflective learning methodology. In this article we present an evaluation of the experience based on students’ perceptions. They assessed the usefulness they think the module has for their training, the methodology and the activities. This evaluation has been carried out through in-depth interviews to 17 students who participated in the module in 2010-11 academic year. The results show that students assess positively the experience, either its general usefulness or the methodology of reflective learning, although they acknowledge some difficulties to carry out such a process which involves a high degree of introspection and a difficulty to set the boundaries in the narration of personal questions. The study also shows some challenges related on the need, but also the difficulty, to include personal and professional development as a powerful axis in the higher education curriculum, as well as elements linked to reflective learning assessment

The general aim of this paper is to explore and illustrate the role of the physical and psychological surrounding in narrative making ofthe personal identity. A qualitative study is put forward. It consists of a reduced version of the autobiographical multi-methodology(Bagnoli, 2004). That has been applied to a sample of six students of the Universidad Intercultural de Chiapas. The specific goals are: a) to illustrate, through citations obtained from interviews and graphical material, the theoretical concepts of attachment to theplace (Pol, 2002; Vidal y colaboradores, 2004) and community sense (Kim y Kaplan, 2004); and b) to detect the most relevantfactors of such concepts manifested in the students. Data was analyzed through the Atlas.ti computer program, version 5.0 (Muñoz, 2005). The findings suggest that sense of connection and participation in the community (action - transformation) has been observed as the most significant factors in our studied sample

The aim of this study was to determine how adolescents construct their own identity during this important stage of their lifecycle.We evaluated the identity of a group of 42 adolescents between 11 and 12 years (early adolescence) and between 14 and 15 years (late adolescence), from EOMEIS-II (Extended Version of the Objective Mesure of Ego Identity Estatus created by Adams, Benion and Huh, 1989) which is part of an Ericksonian conceptualization of identity. In the results obtained we can see that students have higher scores on a global level, the most active and mature estatus (identity achieved and moratorium) in the passive and immature estatus (identity foreclosed and diffused). The boys have a higher score than girls in stating the identity moratorium on free time and political identity achieved

Catalan has drawn considerable attention given its impressive institutional support and increased usage since the restoration of the Generalitat of Catalonia. We report a study on 112 Catalan-speaking students who were administered the"subjective vitality questionnaire". Results show (and these are compared with reports 20 years ago) that it continues to gain momentum and status, even with the International stature of Spanish. The theoretical and pragmatic significance of these findings are discussed in terms of vitality"s role in shaping Language choices (Catalan vs. Castilian) in everyday communication as well as the societal level in forging Language policies for communicating in Catalan in business, political, educational, and media arenas

A spinal cord injury (SCI) is perceived as a source of biographical disruption, not only at a physical level but also in terms of people’s life stories, their motivation and their self-esteem. The aim of this study is to explore the factors that people with spinal cord injuries perceive as contributing to rebuilding their sense of self. Two focus groups were established from the SCIcommunity, one of which was made up of 14 people with paraplegia and the other of 9 people with tetraplegia. In addition, four individual interviews were conducted with the participants. The results of content analysis show that the two most prominent factors in the process of identity renegotiation are the partial transformation of the subject’s identity followed by a coming to terms with that new identity. To rebuild self-worth, the importance of finding a balance between change and continuity was identified. Renegotiation of identity after a spinal cord injury is a complex phenomenon that greatly influences the SCI individual’s quality of life perceptions. Reaching a balance between the changes experienced due to the injury and finding a sense of continuity can be either facilitated or obstructed by the economic, political, legal, architectural, and social context

El actual proceso de globalización de la sociedad ha supuesto, entre otros aspectos, la llegada de fuertes corrientes migratorias y la presencia en la escuela de niños y niñas de todo el mundo. Esta realidad implica una nueva orientación del currículo de conocimiento del medio que posibilite la comprensión de la diversidad y la pluriidentidad presente en todas las aulas de las escuelas de Cataluña y así conseguir educar para una nueva ciudadanía. Este artículo presenta los resultados de un proceso de investigación-acción que ha tenido como objetivo la innovación curricular en el conocimiento del medio natural, social y cultural en seis centros de educación infantil y primaria de las comarcas gerundenses. Se pretende describir y explicar una innovación o cambio curricular fundamentado teóricamente, del que se ha derivado una nueva forma de trabajo en el aula; y mostrar el proceso metodológico de elaboración e implementación con las resistencias y los cambios reales en el currículo

In this paper a brief outline of the origin and development of vocational guidance and career development during the 20thcentury is presented We elaborate a summary of the changes society has suffered during the last decades, and which affect career counselling either directly or indirectly, and which imply a need for modifications in the current approach to career counselling. Subsequently, we propose new perspectives that will be needed to face these changes, and which have been suggested by different authors. Also some competencies needed by career counselors while acting at different levels of intervention are suggested

Como toda categoría identitaria, transexual tiene una definición normativa —en este caso, muy marcada por su origen médico—, hay unos agentes sociales que controlan su uso y existe un conflicto alrededor de los límites que abarca. En este artículo, analizamos cómo el conflicto por la delimitación de esta categoría se articula a nivel individual y colectivo. En base al análisis de entrevistas, grupos de discusión y mensajes en foros de Internet, se ha observado que hay un choque entre dos concepciones de la transexualidad. La primera defiende, desde postulados biologistas, que los criterios para entrar dentro de esta categoría son el cambio corporal y una identificación normativa con el género reivindicado. La segunda propone una interpretación más inclusiva y estratégica de la categoría. El choque entre estas dos concepciones permite entender el trasfondo de este debate aparentemente terminológico e invita a repensar la forma de entender la conexión entre el género y el cuerpo.
