Nasal fractures are extremely frequent. The nasal bones are the third most frequently fractured bones in the human skeleton. This is due to their prominent position on the face and to the diminished bone thickness. As a result, weak forces can cause nasal fractures, while stronger forces can comminute the nasal bones. In general, assaults, falls and sports injuries are the etiologies most commonly involved in nasal trauma. The diagnosis of such fractures is basically clinical and their treatment is usually by closed reduction with good results reported in all the relevant literature. Thus, the aim of this paper is to report a modification of the closed reduction technique for the treatment of these fractures.

For some time, oral surgeons have tried several surgical procedures to improve the alveolar ridge for prosthetic appliance construction. The techniques used for this purpose are divided into four groups: submucosal vestibuloplasty; secondary epithelization; soft tissue grafting and transpositional flaps. Twenty patients who had problems to wear dentures due to unsatisfactory retention and stability were selected at the Oral and MaxilloFacial Surgery and Traumatology Clinic of Dental School of So Jos dos Campos. They were divided in two groups and operated by submucosal vestibuloplasty using stents and secondary epithelization vestibuloplasty by Clark's technique and were evaluated twelve months after operations in relationship of the sulcus depth. The results were obtained by clinical and radiological examination before and after surgery, and they are similar to those found in the literature reaching satisfactory functional judgement

The identification and treatment of peri-implant infections are an essential stage in the maintenance of dental implants, reflecting the longevity of rehabilitation. Therefore, the aim of the study was to conduct a literature review addressing peri-implantitis in dental implants in order to guide planning for the longevity of oral rehabilitation. It was conducted a detailed search strategy by the PubMed / Medline Dentistry and Oral Science, it was used as descriptors: peri-implantitis and Dental Implant, until July 2013. From 566 articles, after a review, according to the inclusion criteria, 34 articles were selected. The results were grouped together in topics (concept, etiology, diagnosis, surgical and nonsurgical, and aspects of oral rehabilitation) for further discussion and conclusions. Conclusions: The accumulation of plaque has been associated with a higher propensity to peri-implantitis. There is a higher incidence of the peri-implantitis disease among patients with previous history of periodontal disease. The local administration of antibiotics and association with mouthwashes / topical use are indicated as suitable for the treatment of moderate peri-implantitis.

Maintenance of agricultural diversity in rural settlements a case study in Moji-Mirim, So Paulo, Brazil. This paper investigated whether farmers, when established in rural settlements, keep some traditional features with regard to crops diversity and circulation of planting material. Its aims were to make an ethnobotanical survey of species and varieties and analyze the dinamics of seeds and propagules circulation. A total of 139 varieties of food crops (55 species/28 families) were found, being 87% of them intended for self-consumption; 54% of varieties come from Minas Gerais, home state of most respondents. The number of varieties grown per household ranged from 17 to 54. The informal and free circulation of planting material is the most important way of acquisition. The circulation network is very active, showing a potential for the management of crops diversity, with emphasis on the contribution of settlers to the maintenance and valorization of traditional varieties.

The availability of the electrical energy, in sufficient quantities and in competitive prices is a crucial factor to the economic development. The trade-in of the excess electrical energy produced in a system of cogeneration can be seen as an alternative to the creation of an additional source of revenues for ethanol power plants sector, besides contributing to the complementation of the Brazilian electrical headquarter with renewable sources. The objective of this study was to evaluate the economic feasibility of the implementation of a cogeneration electrical central using the excess of sugar cane bagasse and selling the excess of electrical energy with prices of the market. An ethanol power plant located in the state of Sao Paulo was used to this study. It was used the case study methodology, evaluating the potential of the investment under the viewpoint of the Net Present Value (NPV), Payback and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and complementing the results of the Accounting Results (AC). It was created three alternative scenarios to reflect the level of the risk of every studied situation: the most likely, an optimistic and a pessimistic, each one with its assumptions. The Monte Carlo Simulations was used to insert the elements of risk to each scenario. The results showed that the project is feasible in all NPV scenarios. And the Payback and IRR analysis confirmed these evidences. The valuation with the AR showed that the project is most risky at the pessimistic scenario, but is feasibly in the most likely and the optimistic scenarios. It was concluded that the project is economic viable. However, the economic viability shown in the results is based on the maintenance of the future prices on the levels of the historical prices used in the analysis.
