Mortalidade materna na perspectiva do familiar

A mortalidade materna é um dos indicadores do desenvolvimento de saúde e social de um país. É uma tragédia para a família, pois a morte da mãe priva a criança da amamentação e do contato materno, e pelo fato de caber à mulher manter a unidade da família. Este estudo teve como objetivo compreender o significado da morte atribuído por familiares das mulheres falecidas por causas maternas. A população foi constituída por dez familiares de sete mulheres que morreram durante o ciclo grávido-puerperal no município de Ribeirão Preto. Realizamos visitas domiciliares e a coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista dada pelo familiar da mulher. Para a análise dos dados, utilizamos a análise temática, em que depreendemos três categorias temáticas: significado da morte materna, vivenciando a mortalidade materna na família e vivenciando a mortalidade materna na instituição de saúde. As visitas domiciliares confirmaram que existem fatores coadjuvantes que influenciaram na ocorrência das mortes maternas.

Incidència de l’entorn educatiu, familiar i social en les actituds lingüístiques i identità ries dels joves d’origen xinès i llatinoamericà a Catalunya

From an interdisciplinary perspective, the present investigation undertaken by the GREILI-UPF research group has expanded a previous study aiming at explaining how young secondary school students of Latin American and Chinese origin in Catalonia construct their linguistic and cultural identity. Here we analyze the relationship between these youngsters and their social environment in order to determine how these relationships and the socialization process that derives from them influence language attitudes and practices. We focus on two spaces of socialization: (1) the school, where youngsters from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds coexist and interact, and (2) the neighborhood, a geographic and symbolic space where social identity is constructed and, consequently, where young newcomers construct their perceptions regarding the host society, including its linguistic reality. We have collected several sets of data in three public secondary schools and three neighborhoods from Barcelona’s metropolitan area with a high index of immigrant population: (1) interviews with secondary school students, (2) interviews with teachers, (3) social discourses in newspapers that consolidate the social image of the neighborhood, (4) narratives from immigrant families in relation to their neighborhood, (5) participant observation in schools, and (5) observation in the neighborhood. The results of the thematic and, when appropriate, discursive analysis of the data allow us to reach conclusions regarding: (a) the social image of the neighborhoods, (b) the socialization of young newcomers in the schools and the neighborhoods, (c) the identity games, and (d) the language and cultural practices and attitudes of young people, in relation to their countries and languages of origin as well as the school and the neighborhood investigated.

Hospitalização na óptica do acidentado de trânsito e de seu familiar-acompanhante

O trabalho descreve o contexto da hospitalização vivenciado pelo acidentado no trânsito e por seu familiar-acompanhante. Com abordagem qualitativa e norteada pela pesquisa convergente assistencial, a investigação realizou-se em um hospital de emergência em Fortaleza, Ceará, em 2004, com 14 pessoas - sete pacientes com trauma musculoesquelético e sete familiares acompanhantes. Na visão dos participantes, o momento da hospitalização é permeado pela depressão, ansiedade, tristeza, medo, preocupação, desinformação, destrato da equipe de saúde ao paciente e família, sendo exacerbado pelo trauma físico, dificuldades econômicas, sociais e implicações legais. De acordo com o princípio da integralidade, o cuidado ao vitimado no trânsito deve ser ampliado aos familiares, pois esses também sofrem danos quando deparam com morte súbita, traumas graves e seqüelas em pessoas significativas.
