Estat actual de la normativa catalogràfica. Primera part: l'escenari internacional

Objectiu: Analitzar la situació actual de la normativa internacional de catalogació en els darrers anys per tal de determinar els motius que han provocat els canvis, els models i principis en què es fonamenten i les repercussions que poden tenir a curt o mitjà terminis en les eines de catalogació i també en els catàlegs.Metodologia: Anàlisi de contingut dels models FRBR, FRAD i FRSAR, dels Principis internacionals de catalogació, i de la reestructuració i actualització de la normativa ISBD. Resultats: Els motius que van iniciar la revisió i renovació de la normativa van ser bàsicament l'evolució de les tecnologies, el desenvolupament de noves formes de publicació i distribució electrònica i, també la necessitat d'abaratir els costos dels processos. Pel que fa a les tecnologies, s'anticipa que l'aplicació dels models FRBR, FRAD i FRSAR aportarà una flexibilitat als registres bibliogràfics i d'autoritats que els farà més adaptables a les tecnologies web. Respecte al desenvolupament de nous formats i de noves formes de publicació relacionades amb l'entorn digital i Internet, els documents de l¿IFLA no el tracten explícitament. Finalment, i pel que fa a la qüestió econòmica, la possibilitat d'abaratir costos amb l'aplicació de la normativa que es derivarà dels models i principis és més aviat migrada. S'acompanya d'una revisió bibliogràfica a l'entorn dels models i la normativa analitzats.

Patients' right to information: a review of the regulatory and ethical framework

[eng] Aim: The paper examines the current situation of recognition of patients' right to information in international standards and in the national laws of Belgium, France, Italy, Spain (and Catalonia), Switzerland and the United Kingdom.Methodology: International standards, laws and codes of ethics of physicians and librarians that are currently in force were identified and analyzed with regard to patients' right to information and the ownership of this right. The related subjects of access to clinical history, advance directives and informed consent were not taken into account.Results: All the standards, laws and codes analyzed deal with guaranteeing access to information. The codes of ethics of both physicians and librarians establish the duty to inform.Conclusions: Librarians must collaborate with physicians in the process of informing patients.

Els catàlegs i inventaris en la història del llibre i de les biblioteques

[eng] After first analysing the definitions of catalogue and inventory, the article highlights differences between the two and reviews the use of both terms throughout history. Likewise, it emphasises the importance of delving into the history of the book and of libraries from the perspectives of different disciplines, such as History of written culture. Taking as an example the inventory of the Convent library of the Order of Mercy of Barcelona, an outline of work is suggested based on the study of catalogues and inventories from the point of view of Library sciences

L'ús de la norma de qualitat ISO 9001 a les biblioteques d'institucions d'educació superior

[eng] ISO standard 9001 is one of a set of management tools that libraries have adopted in recent years. This article focuses on libraries in higher education institutions that have received ISO certification of their quality management systems (ISO standard 9001:2000). We examine their reasons for seeking certification and the advantages and difficulties they have encountered in applying this ISO standard. Finally, we consider the future prospects of ISO standard 9001 in university libraries.

L'ensenyament de la Biblioteconomia a Barcelona: de l'Escola a la Facultat de Biblioteconomia i Documentació

L'objectiu d'aquestes pàgines és reflectir l'evolució que ha seguit l'ensenyament de Biblioteconomia a l'Escola Superior de Bibliotecàries de Barcelona des de la seva creació el 1915 fins a l'actual Facultat de Biblioteconomia i Documentació de la Universitat de Barcelona.

El sistema de gestió documental de la Universitat de Barcelona en el marc de l'Administració electrònica: un element més per fomentar la millora contínua

[eng] We describe the project for the organization of the documentary management system at the University of Barcelona, which is inspired by the opportunities presented by the introduction of electronic administration. We stress the function of the documentary management system as an agent for promoting continuous innovation and improvement. We illustrate this vision with a description of the process of introducing the documentary management system in the area of research.

GenIsisWeb: l'eina per publicar a Internet les bases de dades CDS/ISIS

L'objectiu de la ressenya és presentar GenIsisWeb, un programa que assisteix en la publicació de bases de dades a Internet. Després d'una breu descripció tècnica i partint d'una base de dades prèviament creada amb CDS/ISIS, es mostra el procés complet per a la seva publicació al Web.

Tipologia documental citada en tesis doctorals d'informàtica: bases empíriques per a la gestió equilibrada de col·leccions

Anàlisi de citacions en tesis doctorals d'informàtica de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), presentades entre 1996-1998, per determinar l'ús d'informació segons la tipologia i el suport documental. Com a punt de partida per al disseny del projecte desenvolupat, s'analitzen els fonaments del mètode emprat en vista d'una revisió de la bibliografia sobre desenvolupament de col·leccions i estudis d'usuaris. Les dades obtingudes entre els doctorands de la UPC són consistents amb les característiques apuntades en la bibliografia sobre els investigadors de l'àrea de ciències de la computació: una elevada obsolescència de la bibliografia professional, el control de la bibliografia mitjançant les citacions en les lectures efectuades, la prioritat per les fonts més pròximes i accessibles, la consulta de cercadors de recursos web, la visita a llocs web d'investigadors i institucions de solvència en el seu terreny, i el contacte amb els col·legues mitjançant la comunicació electrònica, configuren un ús per tipus de documents que fa prevaler els congressos i la literatura grisa en més gran mesura que en altres àrees cientificotècniques.

Els programes de fonts i serveis d'informació a les escoles nord-americanes de biblioteconomia i documentació

S'estableix una relació entre els cursos bàsics de treball de referència, impartits en les escoles de Biblioteconomia i Documentació nord-americanes, i les assignatures Serveis d'informació i Serveis i fonts d'informació presents en els plans d'estudis de la Diplomatura en Biblioteconomia i Documentació de la Universitat de Barcelona durant la dècada dels noranta. Es presenta una revisió de la literatura recent sobre la naturalesa i les tendències del curs bàsic esmentat, i s'analitzen els programes corresponents a aquesta assignatura que s'imparteixen a les millors escoles dels Estats Units d'Amèrica

L'aplicació dels estudis de satisfacció d'usuaris a la biblioteca universitària: el cas de les universitats catalanes

L'objectiu del text és donar a conèixer l'aplicació dels estudis de satisfacció d'usuaris a les biblioteques universitàries catalanes. Es pretén establir, a més, quins factors influeixen en la seva elaboració,especialment els lligats a l'àmbit de la gestió dels centres. Es descriu el procés de la investigació ila metodologia del treball de camp utilitzada (una enquesta enviada perquè l'autoemplenessin els directors de lesbiblioteques). Finalment, s'analitzen els resultats de l'enquesta i es presenten les conclusions generals.

Bitàcoles i sindicació de continguts: dues eines per difondre informació

The article describes blogs and content syndication as tools for disseminating information in libraries and other information centres, as well as in educational and research environments. The authors begin by defining each of these tools, followed by a review of their history and a discussion of how they have been used. Finally, possible applications are suggested for library environments and research spaces, while offering considerations about what activities the library community might carry out in order to convert these tools into an effective means of communication

Sistemes de gestió de continguts en la gestió del coneixement

Since the second half of the 1990s, knowledge management has taken shape and has been firmly consolidated as a new discipline within the realm of organisations. The principal objective of this work is to determine whether content management systems (CMS) can become the most appropriate technological standard for consolidating this field. The article describes and analyses the major functions (publishing and exploitation) of these new systems. It then examines the field of knowledge management ¿what are the different types of knowledge that we can find within an organisational context¿ and then identifies and analyses the operations critical to managing it appropriately. The article concludes by evaluating the extent to which technological solutions provided by CMS can assist in properly implementing these critical operations.
