La Radula de Loligo gahi (Cephalopoda; Teuthoidea) del litoral peruano

En los años 1985 y 1987 se colectaron 30 ejemplares de Loligo gahi de 12.3-20.5 cm de longitud del manto y 33-100 g de peso húmedo total de la Bahía de Ancón y de Chimbote. Se determinaron los longitudes de los dientes radulares sus interrelaciones, proponiendo usarlas como características para la identificación de la especie.

Construção de Bibliotecas Digitais em Contextos de info-exclusão: O caso da Universidade Jean Piaget de Cabo Verde

Com a falha dos mecanismos tradicionais de distribuição de recursos bibliográficos em países em desenvolvimento, as bibliotecas digitais apresentam-se como alternativa, não obstante os problemas da info-exclusão. Este artigo apresenta os desafios de construção de uma biblioteca digital (BD) num país em desenvolvimento. O caso de Cabo Verde é analisado em termos de utilização de bibliotecas digitais e suas potencialidades de combater as dificuldades de acesso a recursos bibliográficos no país. Este artigo apresenta igualmente um projecto em desenvolvimento, de construção de uma biblioteca digital na Universidade Jean Piaget de Cabo Verde.

Evolving olfactory systems on the fly.

The detection of odour stimuli in the environment is universally important for primal behaviours such as feeding, mating, kin interactions and escape responses. Given the ubiquity of many airborne chemical signals and the similar organisation of animal olfactory circuits, a fundamental question in our understanding of the sense of smell is how species-specific behavioural responses to odorants can evolve. Recent comparative genomic, developmental and physiological studies are shedding light on this problem by providing insights into the genetic mechanisms that underlie anatomical and functional evolution of the olfactory system. Here we synthesise these data, with a particular focus on insect olfaction, to address how new olfactory receptors and circuits might arise and diverge, offering glimpses into how odour-evoked behaviours could adapt to an ever-changing chemosensory world.

Diferenças de Género e Ano Lectivo na Manifestação de Stress em Alunos Universitários: Estudo de Caso na Universidade Jean Piaget

O trabalho apresenta sintomas de stress em universitários da Unipiaget, relacionando-os com a questão de géneros e ano lectivo em curso. Participaram 259 estudantes na faixa etária de 22 anos, sendo, 138 mulheres e 121 homens de um universo de 735 alunos, O estudo evidenciou que grande parte das mulheres sofrem de stress, o que se deve a mudanças ocorridas na família e na sociedade, deixando as funções de dona de casa para se competir no mercado de trabalho, o que vem gerando stress nessa categoria.

Oesophagite a eosinophiles: mise a jour 2011 [Eosinophilic esophagitis: update 2011].

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) shows an increasing incidence and prevalence in western countries and is currently the main cause of dysphagia in adults. This disease is more prevalent in males and is frequently associated with allergies. Diagnosis is based on the presence of esophageal symptoms, dense eosinophilic esophageal infiltration, and the exclusion of other conditions associated with esophageal eosinophilia. Topical corticosteroids lead to a rapid clinical and histological improvement of active EoE. Especially in children, elimination diets can have similar efficacy as topical corticosteroids. Esophageal dilation of EoE-induced strictures can also be effective in improving symptoms, but this therapy has no effect on the underlying inflammation. Long-term therapeutic strategies have yet to be defined.

New perspective on the study of the authority relationship: Integrating individual and societal level research.

The concept of authority crosses many social sciences, but there is a lack of common taxonomy and definitions on this topic. The aims of this review are: (1) to define the basic characteristics of the authority relationship, reaching a definition suitable for the different domains of social psychology and social sciences; (2) to bridge the gap between individual and societal levels of explanation concerning the authority relationship, by proposing an interpretation within the framework of social representations. The authority relationship can be conceived as a negotiation of meanings and it is closely linked to shared value orientation and the attribution of meanings negotiated within a society. We assume that the authority relationship is socially constructed and represents both a shared representation of society and a normative principle of social life. A multidisciplinary approach is adopted, crossing definitions and studies provided in sociology, political science, law and social psychology.
