Estudio de las conductas motrices de base, perceptivomotrices y neuromotrices que integran el desarrollo psicomotor en niños con síndrome de Down en la Región de Murcia, comparándolo con otros dos grupos de individuos: deficientes mentales y normales. Total de sujetos 255, 92 con SD, 73 con deficiencia mental y 90 sin ningún tipo de minusvalía. Las edades eran de 6 a 12 años para los dos primeros grupos (3-9 de edad de desarrollo intelectual) y de 3-9 para el grupo sin deficiencia. El estudio se llevó a cabo durante los cursos 1995-96 y 1996-97. Una vez seleccionada la muestra se pasó el instrumento a los diferentes sujetos en las mismas condiciones espacio-temporales y materiales, en los centros a los que acudían habitualmente los alumnos y de acuerdo con los profesores de educación física. Durante el curso 1997/98 se llevó a cabo la corrección y análisis de las pruebas y se valoró y redactó el trabajo. Balance Psicomotor de Vayer (1977) que mide el desarrollo psicomotor de niños de 2 a 11 años (coordinación óculo-manual, coordinación dinámica general, equilibrio, control del cuerpo y segmentario, organización perceptiva y orientación espacial, estructuración espacio-temporal y lateralidad). Medidas de las distintas conductas que integran el desarrollo psicomotor en los intervalos de edad de 6-8, de 8-10 y 10-12 para los grupos con SD y deficientes y de 3-5, 5-7 y 7-9 en los normales. Se realizó un análisis de varianza inter e intra sujeto en las distintas subpruebas que componen el Balance Psicomotor para comprobar si existían diferencias significativas entre los diferentes déficit y las distintas edades. Nivel de confianza 0.05. Los resultados se obtuvieron utilizando los paquetes SPSS ver 8.01 y BMDP (1985). Características de desarrollo similares en SD y normales en el grupo menor de edad, en los grupos siguientes las diferencias son muy significativas entre los SD con relación a los deficientes y los normales en todas las conductas analizadas. Es importante que los niños con SD tengan muchas oportunidades de jugar y relacionarse con niños normales. Los adultos pueden intervenir en los juegos, ayudando al niño a participar realmente en lugar de mantenerse como un observador pasivo desarrollando estrategias concretas, arbitrando relaciones personales dentro del grupo para integrar mejor al niño y solucionar cualquier problema de conducta que surja.

Entender el proceso educativo que realizan los padres y el derecho que tienen a elegir la educación que se vaya a impartir a sus hijos, contemplando todas las dimensiones y etapas madurativas en las cuales y a través de las cuales el ser humano es susceptible de recibir una acción progresivamente perfectiva. Entender el derecho de los padres a dirigir e intervenir activamente en la educación de sus hijos. La primera parte trata de abordar lo que podría denominarse reflexión descriptiva de la dimensión educativa inherente a la familia. Con una fundamentación se hace referencia a la dimensión de base de elementalidad que supone la familia en el fenómeno educativo globalmente considerado. Esta primera parte viene complementada con un recorrido histórico con la intención de encontrar relaciones participativas entre familia y escuela, junto con un acercamiento a la consideración del fenómeno asociativo que congrega a los padres en torno a la institución escolar. Se trata la familia y la escuela ante la educación, la fundamentación filosófica, el traspaso de funciones educativas desde el ámbito familiar a la institución escolar. Se muestra la relación entre familia y escuela a través de la historia, hasta la década de los 80, y se analiza la finalidad de la entrada en acción de los padres en la escuela. En la segunda parte del trabajo se explica la participación asociativa de los padres en la escuela. Se desarrolla el concepto de las Asociaciones de Padres de Alumnos (APA), las relaciones entre padres y maestros, las dificultades que surgen en las relaciones, su finalidad, y las opiniones de algunas instituciones en torno a la participación en el centro educativo. Por último, se muestra el estudio legal de las APA: precedentes, la legislación española, la participación en los centros educativos de APAS en la Ley general de Educación de 1970. Junto con las APAS en la LOECE y LOEDE. 1) La colaboración entre familia y centro educativo no logrará su éxito si se conciben las dos entidades como conjuntos separados, paralelos. 2) Familia y centro educativo no deben ser considerados como dos instituciones, sino como una sola distribuida. 3) Las APAS están llamadas a protagonizar un capítulo fundamental en el panorama educativo. 4) Constatar que existe una cierta insuficiencia en el nivel de participación. Este dato era achacado a la escasa o nula atención que a esta perentoria necesidad se venía prestando por parte de las instancias rectoras de la vida social. 5) La participación de los padres en la gestión y el control de los centros escolares donde sus hijos son educados, es una extensión legítima del derecho de todo hombre a la educación. 6) La participación de la familia en los centros puede ser diferenciada de dos formas desde las posibilidades establecidas a este respecto en la legislación española. 7) Las APAS habrán de recibir todo tipo de ayudas y estímulos por parte de quienes albergan intereses y confianza en que es posible mejorar las condiciones generales de vida de personas y grupos gracias a un modelo educativo presidido por un decidido talante participativo, donde se haga efectiva y auténtica una continuidad entre familia y escuela en el marco de una verdadera comunidad.

Com o aumento acelerado da oferta de cursos na modalidade a distância nas instituições privadas de ensino superior brasileiras e com a ampliação de serviços e produtos para atender a demanda de produção dessa modalidade de ensino. Surgem, consequentemente, novos desafios e referenciais teórico-metodológicas para produção de materiais didáticos em espaços virtuais de aprendizagem. Para tanto, esta pesquisa visa investigar elementos que potencializem o uso de aplicações computacionais que são disponibilizados em ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem, na tentativa de fornecer contribuições para indicação de parâmetros de qualidade para a construção de recursos de aprendizagem para o ensino e aprendizagem no ensino online. Com isso, as condições que podem propiciar a ressignificação dos processos de mediação pedagógica e construção de material didático em AVAs passam a ser elementos importantes a se considerar. Além de contemplar os recursos computacionais, surge a necessidade de identificar o perfil dos profissionais (professor conteudista e designer instrucional) envolvidos diretamente com o processo de elaboração de materiais, sem desconsiderar as ferramentas ágeis de produção (rapid learning) como possíveis elementos facilitadores para aprimorar a qualidade de aula e ainda, constatar por meio de um mapeamento a experiência dos alunos diante do preparo das aulas. Com base nas contribuições e nos achados referenciados nessa investigação, sob o olhar de autores consagrados na escolha da temática em questão, vislumbram-se os conceitos norteadores das teorias da aprendizagem, da motivação, do perfil formador na visão docente e discente, dos estilos de ensino e aprendizagem online, dos processos cognitivos, do planejamento e produção de um curso, dos recursos e interfaces educacionais e, por conseguinte, dos aspectos interacionais promovidos no ensino online. Os temas sobre educação e sociedade foram embasados em textos de Delors (1996), Santos (2002) e Castells (1999). Foi estudada, ainda, a relação docente com as novas tecnologias nas visões de Moran (2007), Lévy (1999) e Demo (1993) e por último as contribuições de Filatro (2007, 2008) sobre as competências necessárias para atuação e participação do trabalho do Designer Instrucional no processo de elaboração de material para facilitar aspectos inerentes à cognição e facilitação do ensino e aprendizagem. A escolha metodológica aplicada na pesquisa pode ser considerada qualiquantitativa, por preocupar-se não apenas em quantificar as opiniões, mas também fornecer elementos que possam gerar contribuições para ampliar a qualidade de serviços nesse cenário. O percurso escolhido para análise dos dados se deu a partir da criação de um curso gratuito de extensão acadêmica a distância, onde foi adicionado um questionário para os alunos participantes que tinham perfil de idade de 18 a 35 anos (gerações de 70', 80' e 90') com intuito de investigar as contribuições dos aplicativos utilizados para contextualizar o material teórico disponibilizado no AVA.

Les concepts, les notions, les langages qui en découlent, sont intimement lies aux systèmes et aux contextes qui alimentent la forme et la vie du musée. Depuis que la question se pose, où va la muséologie qui a emprunté la voie du changement dans les années 70, 80 et 90, une réflexion sur les principaux vecteurs de transformation de l’institution dex fois séculaire s’impose. Bien que la plupart des musées et de ses dérivatifs (60%) possédant une crédibilité dans le monde occidental , malgré les réformes de modernisation introduites ( attention aux publics, presentation améliorée ) demeurent attachés à la tradition qui en determine l’image, on peut affirmer, sans se tromper, qu’un pan considerable de la muséologie de la période post-moderne (20% en terme de volume d’activité ) est à peine reconnaissable, si on se réfère à la periode antérieure à la deuxième moitié du 20ème siècle. Le concept de MUSEE, dans deux champs antagonistes ou complémentaires, selon l’angle d’analyse, soit la muséologie entrée de plein pied dans les industries culturelles de l ‘ère des communications, et la muséologie (ou l’anti-musée) ayant adopté le parti-pris de l’intervention sociale, véhicules de systèmes idéologiques et organisationnels rompant radicalement avec un passé recent, se partageant entre la mondialisation globalisante et les aspirations du mouvement alter-mondialiste puissant dans la tradition associative. Tributaires d’une part des luttes libératrices (60/70), de la contestation des valeurs, d’autre part des technologies (80/90), de la globalisation (90. ), ces musólogies ( systéme binaire ) prennent la vedette à l’aide de changements irréversibles dans l’ordre des functions du musée.

Desde su aparición pública en 1994, el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) ha sido percibido por su discurso-práctica como una opción en la transformación de las relaciones sociales de poder imperantes. Es justamente esta posibilidad real de transformación actual lo que me interesa poner en relieve en el presente texto, y cómo ésta se debe, entre muchas otras cosas, a un toma y daca narrativo (como lo he denominado) en la práctica zapatista, el mismo que se da entre una diversidad de historias que confluyen formando urdimbres y que se expresan posteriormente en una realidad concreta y en la generación de conocimiento crítico. Este planteamiento, aún germinal, se encuentra de manera clara en el proceso de conformación del EZLN en la década de los 80, y en el proceso emprendido en 2005 con la Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona, conocido como “la otra campaña”.

The Greenland ice sheet will decline in volume in a warmer climate. If a sufficiently warm climate is maintained for a few thousand years, the ice sheet will be completely melted. This raises the question of whether the decline would be reversible: would the ice sheet regrow if the climate cooled down? To address this question, we conduct a number of experiments using a climate model and a high-resolution ice-sheet model. The experiments are initialised with ice sheet states obtained from various points during its decline as simulated in a high-CO2 scenario, and they are then forced with a climate simulated for pre-industrial greenhouse gas concentrations, to determine the possible trajectories of subsequent ice sheet evolution. These trajectories are not the reverse of the trajectory during decline. They converge on three different steady states. The original ice-sheet volume can be regained only if the volume has not fallen below a threshold of irreversibility, which lies between 80 and 90% of the original value. Depending on the degree of warming and the sensitivity of the climate and the ice-sheet, this point of no return could be reached within a few hundred years, sooner than CO2 and global climate could revert to a pre-industrial state, and in that case global sea level rise of at least 1.3 m would be irreversible. An even larger irreversible change to sea level rise of 5 m may occur if ice sheet volume drops below half of its current size. The set of steady states depends on the CO2 concentration. Since we expect the results to be quantitatively affected by resolution and other aspects of model formulation, we would encourage similar investigations with other models.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate relationships between body fat and its distribution and carbohydrate and lipid tolerance using statistical comparisons in post-menopausal women. DESIGN: Sequential meal, postprandial study (600 min) which included a mixed standard breakfast (30 g fat) and lunch (44 g fat) given at 0 and 270 min, respectively, after an overnight fast. SUBJECTS: Twenty-eight post-menopausal women with a diverse range of body weight (body mass index (BMI), mean 27.2, range 20.5-38.8 kg/m2) and abdominal fat deposition (waist, mean 86.4, range 63.5-124.0 cm). Women with BMI <18 or >37 kg/m2, age>80 y and taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) were excluded. MEASUREMENTS: Anthropometric measurements were performed to assess total and regional fat deposits. The concentrations of plasma total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, triacylglycerol (TAG), glucose, insulin (ins), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) and apolipoprotein (apo) B-48 were analysed in plasma collected at baseline (fasted state) and at 13 postprandial time points for a 600 min period. RESULTS: Insulin concentrations in the fasted and fed state were significantly correlated with all measures of adiposity (BMI, waist, waist-hip ratio (W/H), waist-height ratio (W/Ht) and sum of skinfold thickness (SSk)). After controlling for BMI, waist remained significantly and positively associated with fasted insulin (r=0.559) with waist contributing 53% to the variability after multiple regression analysis. After controlling for waist, BMI remained significantly correlated with postprandial (IAUC) insulin (r=0.535) contributing 66% of the variability of this measurement. No association was found between any measures of adiposity and glucose concentrations, although insulin concentration in relation to glucose concentration (glucose-insulin ratio) was significantly negatively correlated with all measures of adiposity. A significant positive correlation was found between fasted TAG and BMI (r=0.416), waist (r=0.393) and Ssk (r=0.457) and postprandial (AUC) TAG with BMI (r=0.385) and Ssk (r=0.406). A significantly higher postprandial apolipoprotein (apo) B-48 response was observed in those women with high BMI (>27 kg/m2). Fasting levels of NEFA were significantly and positively correlated with all measures of adiposity (except W/H). No association was found between cholesterol containing particles and any measure of adiposity. CONCLUSION: Hyperinsulinaemia associated with increasing body fat and central fat distribution is associated with normal glucose but not TAG or NEFA concentrations in postmenopausal women.

Class microspheres containing the radioisotope (32)P, a beta(-) particle emitter, and half-life of 14.3 days, can be easily introduced in specific human organs such as liver, pancreas. and uterus to kill cancer cells. In the present work phosphate glass microspheres were produced with different compositions and particle size distribution in the range of 20- 30 mu m. Two different thermal processes were used to spherodize glass particles originally with irregular shapes. Samples were characterized by X-rays diffraction to check the amorphous structure, energy dispersive X-rays fluorescence spectroscopy to determine the final glass composition, and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy to determine the structural groups in the glass structure. The dissolution rate of glass samples in water was determined at 90 degrees C, and in simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 degrees C. Classes with dissolution rates close to 10(-5) g/(cm(2) day) were obtained, which make them suitable for the present application. Scanning electron microscopy was used to evaluate the shape of the microspheres before and after the dissolution tests. The cytotoxicity tests showed that these microspheres can be used for biological applications. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Background: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a soft-tissue disease of unknown origin. It causes soft-tissue pain and stiffness, often with chronic fatigue, disrupted sleep, headaches and irritable bowel. Fibromyalgia affects an estimated six million Americans of which 80 to 90 percent are female.

Objective: To determine whether dietary intake of protein, Tryptophan, and Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) meet Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) recommendations, and whether there is a difference in animal and vegetable protein intake in subjects with FM compared to healthy controls.

Methods: Thirty subjects with FM and an equal number of controls completed a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) regarding dietary intake over the previous month. The FFQs were then computer analyzed to determine dietary intake.

Results: Protein intake of all subjects was more than adequate to meet DRI recommendations and there was no significant difference in intake of protein, BCAA, Tryptophan, animal or vegetable protein. Subjects with FM had significantly higher body weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) than controls, and reported having a higher incidence of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms than controls.

Conclusion
: There was no significant difference in dietary intake of protein, Tryptophan, BCAA, or amounts of animal or vegetable protein in FM subjects compared to healthy controls. Significant differences in body weight and BMI in FM subjects might be related to less physical activity or possibly to malabsorption problems associated with IBS. Malabsorption related to IBS might increase the potential for protein malnutrition, FM, and associated symptoms like chronic fatigue.

Pollen allergy has been found in 8090% of childhood asthmatics and 40–50% of adult-onset asthmatics. Despite the high prevalence of atopy in asthmatics, a causal relationship between the allergic response and asthma has not been clearly established. Pollen grains are too large to penetrate the small airways where asthma occurs. Yet pollen cytoplasmic fragments are respirable and are likely correlated with the asthmatic response in allergic asthmatics. In this review, we outline the mechanism of pollen fragmentation and possible pathophysiology of pollen fragment-induced asthma. Pollen grains rupture within the male flowers and emit cytoplasmic debris when winds or other disturbances disperse the pollen. Peak levels of grass and birch pollen allergens in the atmosphere correlated with the occurrence of moist weather conditions during the flowering period. Thunderstorm asthma epidemics may be triggered by grass pollen rupture in the atmosphere and the entrainment of respirable-sized particles in the outflows of air masses at ground level. Pollen contains nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (reduced) oxidases and bioactive lipid mediators which likely contribute to the inflammatory response. Several studies have examined synergistic effects and enhanced immune response from interaction in the atmosphere, or from co-deposition in the airways, of pollen allergens, endogenous pro-inflammatory agents, and the particulate and gaseous fraction of combustion products. Pollen and fungal fragments also contain compounds that can suppress reactive oxidants and quench free radicals. It is important to know more about how these substances interact to potentially enhance, or even ameliorate, allergic asthma.

Investigating on-site building performance in architectural science is increasing. However, the simplest forms of measurement often lack any analytical support other than presentation on a time-series plot. Here, we present instrumentation and analytical tools to assist in reporting building performance. The intention is to explore formats for observing performance of buildings based on collected data. Sometimes data are presented directly, but more often, information is revealed by calculation. We introduce examples of tools pertaining to interior-exterior climatic comparisons, occupant comfort and thermal performance, such as weather data plotted against a neutral temperature so that adaptive model comfort tolerances can be illustrated. We plot the interior and exterior air condition on the ASHRAE psychrometric chart to understand conditioning requirements. Other tools calculate the ISO 7730 (Fanger) comfort model, and an adaptive model of comfort is provided for the interior measurements alongside an 8090% comfort band. These tools add value to reporting data by displaying in several formats, so the researcher can observe and report quickly and clearly on the potential of various conditioning periods within a building.A case study is presented for a house in Darwin during the wet-season.
